If the pierce with punches is too overpowered they could make the damage drop depending on how many targets it travels through. A shield could also be considered a target so it doesn’t make shields useless. Or not.

I think just slightly less range would be fair, so it would retain the piercing nature but wouldn't feel like it just goes through the whole team. That, or they could leave it strong but increase the cooldown/decrease duration on alt form, so alt form is still strong but just available less often.

Im more worried about the primary fire of the base form, fast reload with insane dps while also being decently tanky with good util. (And his ult is crazy)

I think the "increased damage from headshots" thing is just to differentiate from certain other projectile weapons, like Pharah's, which don't do critical damage.

Your correct but so wrong. Ana has projectile and hitscan, and she doesn't headshot becuase it's damage over time. Projectiles do headshot, torb, zen, baby Dvas, lots of them. It's weird to say 'becuase projectiles dont headshot' the majority do

I didn't mean that projectile weapons don't do critical damage, I meant that certain projectile weapons, such as Ana's, don't do critical damage. And the damage over time thing is a good point. I'll edit the comment so that it's clearer.

important to note that his shield has a 15 second cooldown, so depending on it's duration it may not be up nearly as often as other barriers like sigma's or winston's

So basically you have to Shield, Rush and go into Nemsis when Shield goes on cooldown. So for 8 Seconds you can block. When you come out of Nemsis you'll have 7 seconds left before you can barrier again unless you go into nemesis with ~8 seconds left on Barrier cooldown.

But his nanites only deal 5 damage, or 10 for a critical. And he will have to reload much more often than zenyatta. Also guys, keep in mind that none of these targets are even attempting to move out of the stream of fire. They could have at least made a bot use A/D strafe every other second to simulate battle.

On Zen, it took 7 nanites before it reached him, so firing for 27 means 20 hit. 10 damage per crit would be the magic number

It seems like it would do 5 damage per nanite for a body. If you look at Cassidy, 22 got him to around half hp (113). If it were 5 damage then the 22 shots would deal 112 so 10 damage for a crit makes a lot of sense. Also, his nemesis pummel does 60 as it needed 12 pummels to kill hog.

At the beginning of the video, Ramattra was very close to Roadhog and took approximately half of his health with "85" nanites, dividing 350Hp by 85 gave an extremely broken number, but I rounded it up to 4. I don't think it's 5 damage, as 5x85 did 425 damage, well over half. I rewind the video to see how long it took to reach it, it took 3 or 4 nanites to deal the first damage, so 4x81 = 405. That remains well over half. If he actually does 4 damage, a 2.5x crit would do 10 damage. (Most do 2x, they might be exploring new multipliers considering Kiriko does 3x) About his Punch, it took 4 punches for Kiriko and Ashe, so it's really 60 damage.

Damage reduction caps out. He isn't going to have 100% damage reduction and there is a hero called Ana who exists. He has shown zero immunity to CC, so it won't be hard to deal with.

It's like mercy damage boost and Zen discord: two different mechanics. Block (and his armor health!) reduce damage he takes, and his ultimate reduces the damage enemies deal. Aka stuff very much stacks.

@@peterpan4038 Yes, damage reduction stacks. But case in point, Nano Orisa. Orisa Fortify = 50% reduction. Nano = 50% reduction. Does she have 100% reduction? No. Above 50 it gets halved. They have a cap on damage reduction. And like Doom blocking, you will likely be able to sleep him out of it and kill the CD. There is always a hard limit to this stuff, so that you can't hit certain reduction breakpoints.

​@@SumGai I don't think you understand how percentages work. You don't add them together. If something does 100 damage and gets reduced by 50%, it does 50, and if it gets reduced by another 50% it does 25. Which is 75% damage reduction

@@SamuraiPipotchi You are one of the lost ones I guess. A tempo character by definition is one that transforms, and the whole kit changes. Only Bastion and Ramattra are true Tempo heroes since they have transformations, in which on a FIXED time they alter how they play completely. Their gameplay is about tempo. The community using the word Tempo for for all tanks instead of a proper one like adaptive or reactive, doesnt change this fact. There is nothing fixed about ''tempo tanks'' as the rhythm they use change constantly and they are not limited by a fixed cool down. You don't see Rein using the shield and then waiting a fixed amount of time to then swap into offensive hammer wacking tank. It all happens fluidly without restrictions.

@@oKenshinHimura You absolutely do see Reinhardts doing that. It's a core element of his gameplay. The swing of his hammer is akin to a metronome. I don't know if other MOBA's use the word differently, but the word Tempo is normally defined by pacing or a change in pacing - not by the length of time itself. When you play tank you mostly play to either set and maintain a rhythm of pushing and pulling against your opponents. After that, you win by identifying your opponents' tempo and utilising it to break rhythm at an opportune moment. If Ramattra is being defined as a tempo tank because he can't break rhythm, then he's going to struggle as a tank.

ah yes an ult to use when ever the game enters overtime. using that ult during overtime means that they have no choice to run away from his ult, bc its literally overtime they have to kill him. which is kinda hard especially when you combine the 50% less damage with the block. meaning you have to look at him as his whole team kills you and hes just sitting there blocking. i actually cant wait for this this sounds so funny. (also people saying that others can win OT, i forgot to mention that too. its just funny to me that the ult is literally infinite as long as you are next to the enemy, adding on to the list of ways to tilt the enemy.) edit: lol overwatch stated that the 50% thing was a mistake on there part.

This seems pretty straightforward to me. 5 damage per bullet, 2x damage headshots, kills zenyatta in 20 headshot bullets. There's a number of characters that can't crit and they just saying he can. Meanwhile nemesis form looks to be doing 65-70 damage per punch to knock most heroes out in 3 punches and the block looks to be blocking like 80% damage but since he's holding his arms in front of his head there go the headshots. Looks ludicrously unbalanced. Don't forget to pick up your premium battle pass.

He's totally right about the developers here. Every hero is 'vulnerable' at the spot where they are not looking, that's why they can simply turn around. In the developers' view, any other hero is vulnerable whether they are being shot from the front or the back or both at the same time, because they aren't in creative god mode. Rammattra is even less vulnerable than every other hero since he can choose if and when to block at any angle he chooses.

People are overestimating how much damage that ult does and what Ram has to do in order to keep it up. If the opposing team scatters, some will remain in the field and others will be out of it. Those out of it can do full damage, which can force Ram to block, which then allows players caught in the field to get out. It’s great when players are standing still or they’re all moving in the same Direction, but otherwise, Ram will still need to prioritise who to chase. And because he has to chase to keep his ult up, he has to give up the space he was holding. Can it still be strong? Sure, but again, it’s not as overpowered as people think. Lacking any mobility buttons also lowers his overall strength without a Lucio, his nemesis form (and ult) especially.

Block damage reduction is 80%. One shot from Hog is 175. If you assume it’s an 80% damage reduction then it becomes 35 per shot before you factor in armor (30% damage reduction). That brings it down to 24.5 per shot, which is what we see here.

Tempo Tank is being correctly used by them. Only Bastion and Ramattra are transforming heroes that have true fixed tempo in their kit. Many aspects of their kit change once they use that ability. They go into a passive mode and then into an aggressive one. Meanwhile for the rest of the tanks its not so fixed as they do it out of rhythm. It is more of an adaptive/reaction thing, and not a fixed tempo. I don't see Rein putting up his shield and waiting on a cd to run out to then drop the shield. Its fluid and depends on the fight.

Yes I agree with this. Arguably Wrecking Ball is already this 'tempo tank' as when done optimally, there's a context for one form as there is for the other, but he isn't limited by cooldown, while Bastion and Rammattra are. Rammattra is loaded in either form, so it's about deciding which is best, but for Bastion, he's a gimp in recon and needs to be in tank, but the timing to do it is where the 'tempo' comes from.

Doomfist and Rammatra are completely different. I keep seeing this come back up as if they fill the same niche when they absolutely do not. Of course Doom needs touching up, but just because Ramattra has powerblock and can punch people doesn't mean he plays the same.

Observation I've made thanks to the trailer and dev updates: Hog (700 HP) died in 12 punches, meaning a pummel probably does 60 damage. In the clip with rein holding his shield with Kiriko and Ashe behind him we can pretty much see the range since the first fist doesn't hit kiriko. It's quite good but not outrageous. In a clip in the gameplay trailer where he unleashes his ULT, rein holds up his shield and doesn't seem to have the lil beam connected, so it seems to be blockable by shields.

Snare is worrying because with sojourn it basically cuts off a huge amount of distance if done well together. Basically massive area denial, so I hope something comes to push through that more than just Kiriko's invuln and baps invuln and heal.

Sojourn 15 seconds. Ramattra 12 second. The cooldown is not only shorter, it encourages use before or after Sojourns similar move. To me seems open to overuse or abuse without too many consequences.

15 second cooldown on the shield is the only glimmering ray of hope I see in this in terms of balancing. With that long a cooldown you definitely need to think about its placement somewhat. And it's not so big that it could block a dva bomb from any angle for example. Nemesis form also looks huge with its hitbox so he's going to be very easy to hit at least. His head especially looks pretty easy to hit from both the front and the sides of him as seen at 4:20 He's probably still going to be broken as hell but I do look forward to hearing all the voice lines and interactions with other heroes. I especially hope that the "Suffer, as I have!" ult voiceline is delivered well.

Only in nemesis, and only if he up close. Besides, he deals low damage to the barrier, so if the people behind the barrier can spread out, he won't be able to hit them all at once. It looks really simple to counter, and you can just let the Rein, for example, tank his pummels

I think what they coulda meant by it does extraa damage with headshots is because other beam weapons dont do headshot dmg and this could be seen as a projectile like beam weapon so i think they were just clarifying its not like zarya or symm primary, after checking and it would probably be alot closer to mei primary so thats probably what they are clarifying that it can crit.

You don't have to spend anything for him. Just reach tier 55 and he's yours in qp and comp. Reaching tier 55 is not a grind. Just play 3-5 qp matches a day for two weeks

I believe that the distinction of his primary fire dealing more damage to headshots is to distinguish it from his melee primary fire which does not seem to be able to headshot, and it is worded that way to prevent confusion when viewed in isolation. In the broader context of overwatch it doesnt quite read that way, but i think that was the intention behind that particular distinction

based on my back of the hand estimation: Staff: 150-160dps body w 2x hs multiplier Punch - 1 punch every 0.6s at 60dmg per Ult - not really sure bc they didnt show health bars but the dmg seems low, ~30dps maybe **edit - his E ability does damage, the killfeed (which you can't see in this bc of the facecam) credits the kill on the mercy at 5:13 to that ability

Zen seems like the best counter to ramattra, discord orb with the damaged recieved increase will make his Nemesis block form quite weak and he can just dink and poke from a distance, the barrier is only temporary and so won't protect ramattra for long, and it will be difficult for ramattra to track a zen hit ox from across the map. Ramattra seems like an anti dive/sniper tank.

okay so i looked closer zenyatta starts taking damage when the ammo count reaches 40 and dies when it reaches 20. 20 shots means 10 dmg per headshot (so the 5 per bodyshot estimate from cassidy seems to be accurate) hope this helps edit: the "more damage per headshot" means you can hit headshot, unlike heros like ana with basically have a 1x multiplier on headshots.

They either make it so that piercing damage is greatly reduced for every enemy/shield it goes through or the piarcing only activate at very close range making it a melee hero in that form like rein

We do already have unblockable damage in Winston. The only thing that makes you safe is a Zarya bubble. Ramattra punch may also get blocked by deflect like most other melee attacks, though it probably wouldn't protect the other people hit by it. It also looks like Winston has a wider cleave, though Ramattra seems to do more damage. It really comes down to the numbers. The fact that nemesis form is on a cooldown also helps keep it more balanced.

So it's just melee damage. It works like rein hammer, blade, brig flail, Winston primal and gun. But unlike all of those it trade a sweeping arc with a straight line of slightly more range. As a general tank player this isn't really anything new.

Void Accelerator has a "pattern" so the beam is made up of smaller projectiles. I think of shotguns when I hear the word "pattern." It's not like Zarya or Symm. It has a "fixed pattern" so there's no spread angle. It seems to be a tight spread shotgun beam. Projectile not hitscan.

The "hold w" comp with this is mad in my mind. Lucio speed boosting you in behind a 1000hp barrier, with a Reaper along with you in Nemesis form with the Vortex, Swarm plus Soujorn snare, seems scary. Classic design issue for hero/legend based games, you want to be creative for new additions so you give them everything.

8 seconds is a long time in a team fight though and he only needs to get one pick to essentially make the fight a winnable proposition. The reason I say this is because inorder to survive his pummel attack their is a high chance the enemy supports will have to invest resources to keep their teammates up. Anas nade as a example is on a higher cool down than Rams block/pummel. Even if she gets max value and snags the anti plus health boost for the team its unlikely he is gunna die

So I don't think the piercing punch is gonna be as much of a problem as it seems, it seems to be about 60 damage and attacks once per second making it on par with Winston Tesla which is also 60 DPS.. so if anything it's just like a burst damage version of Winston's primary fire, ofc we don't know the exact damage numbers now but considering it took 12 punches to kill a full health roadhog it's around 60 damage.. and they shown a scenario of 3 people directly lined up behind a rein shield and even missed the kiriko on the first couple swings, so the range isn't that crazy, tbh I think from what I've seen his nemesis form is the most balanced of the forms cause the skill ceiling of the staff's primary fire is gonna be insane with no fall off, and like I said the nemesis form punches just seem like a aimable burst damage similar to Winston.

Symetras teleport has a great use against that ult though, teleport the team away from his ultimate, let it expire within the 4 sec or whatever, then go back. Possibly difficult to pull off, but a viable option I think.

The issue is that, in quite a few situations you can't just run away and let it expire e.g. in overtime, or when the enemy team is pushing you e.g. on point like king's row or something. So that's the issue. Cause in overtime you can easily run away from it, but you will insta lose the round/game.

@@jedidiahdriscoll4963 yes, that might be effective IF you had a 5man party with discord etc, because in random party it is going to be borderline impossible to do + most of the games end in an overtime (im in diamond-master ranks and like 70% of the games end in an overtime, so yeah). Also depending on exactly how long the ult last without anyone in radius (if it is 3-4 sec, good luck with that if ramattra has lucio with speed boost next to him, because he most likely will catch up)

i think how it works is that the damage stacks the longer you hold it on a headshot. so if you hold it on someone’s head it will do more damage based on how long you’re continuously hitting headshots

He has no way to defend against CC than his barrier, which has a long cooldown. I reckon that tanks with strong CC, like Orisa, Sigma, and Hog, are effective against him

I did some quick math based off the content in his ability reveal video, his is dmg is as follows: Void Accelerator Staff Body shot: 5 dmg per bullet Void Accelerator Staff Headshot: 7.4 dmg per bullet (possibly 7.5 if rounded) Nemesis Mode Punches: 60 dmg each (takes 12 hits to elim a full health roadhog) Ravenous Vortex: 10 dmg per full second (deals roughly 22.22 dmg to Sojourn in just over 2 seconds prior to being Nemesis punched in reveal video) Ult Annihilation: 37.5 dmg per second (elims full health Tracer in 4 seconds) Keep in mind they could adjust this upon release and community feedback (plus I'm realistically estimating without full details,) but he could absolutely be a force to be reckoned with.

barrier is 1khp but has around 15secs cooldown snare/anti air has around 12secs cd the increased damage on headshot might just be to differentiate from punches since those cant headshot

The headshot thing is just to distinguish it from other beam effects like Mei and sym primary fire, I think.

It's not about changing forms. It's about swapping the tempo of the battle. He can swap from ranged/defensive mode to melee/offensive mode on a dime swapping the "tempo" of the battle at a moments notice. Lucio is similar in his kit.

Flats compares the short range attack to firestrike but it's more like Rein's melee. Short range left click with the "swing" going long instead of wide.

He's too strong. I've not said this before, he's just flat too strong. What we have here is literally an Orisa, Sigma, Rein with DPS capabilities nearly on par with 76's left click and since his ult lasts for such a short period unless there are people in it just slap on a Lucio and watch Ramattra take teams basically alone. You will be able to press Q and win fights with just that, forcing the other team to also have Ramattra or lose every other team fight automatically. Blizzard, you have a whole damn community with very strong, knowledgeable, and passionate streamers. FUCKING ASK. I sincerely hope this comment ages poorly and I'm proved wrong.

I think the unblockable damage is a really bad move & self block mechanics usually are so fking boring I'm sorry. I'm hoping that it isn't that bad since you do need to be close range and like in a straight line for the nemesis form to do THAT damage but I dunnoooo I think this is a bad idea. He has so much utility too lol man has a shield AND cc? Isn't that what they were trying to remove? Idk like these things directly counter Reinhardt, Brigitte, Mercy, and so on when they are already weak characters.

The instant block with no cooldown makes sense if he was restricted to melee. But he can shoot unblockable projectiles in that form? Reinhardt is useless then, his shield means nothing, and Rammattra has the upperhand on him and his teammates behind him in Reinhardt's domain.
