Ramcharger Revival 360 Build Series: Final Assembly!

The 360 small block Mopar gets it's final assembly. This engine gets the heads installed that were machined by Ed at ‪@edsmachine93‬. This engine will soon go into the 1986 Dodge Ramcharger project. You can see more of it in the playlist called, "Ramcharger Revival"

I really like this engine and here's why: It should be very mild mannered on the street, would be great in Vans, Trucks, RC, and in a Duster with just 3.23's and a stock converter would run 12's if tuned properly. This is my kind of engine! Well done, Joe!!

Like a lot! The value covers were on this! You are a lucky man Joe . I have been trying to get them. One place wants me to give them around 500 . That’s not shipping or taxes. I wanted the old Crome ones on the 360 red truck but was told they don’t have them anymore. So a can of paint it is. Nice looking motor though. Was really surprised you put the single plane on it.

Thanks brother. The other option was try to find a LD 340 that isn’t $500, or to run a basic performer intake, that has 318 ports. I could go air gap and spend a little while making new A/C brackets for the ramcharger, but I like the torker 2. She should live tomorrow 🫡

Looks sweet and should run well as well and 360's are known for their low-end grunt, I have one in my 84 dually with Edelbrock performer intake, cam, lifters, springs and retainers, smog heads and KB pistons and another in my 84 Ram Charger with crower torque beast cam, lifters, springs and retainers, performer intake. Will be building one more performance oriented this fall as I have the parts and want a little more power in my dually.

You must have misread my comment, not swapping out a 318, just a more powerful 360. Better heads w/2.02 intakes, bigger cam, crane adjustable rockers, higher compression etc, etc. 360's are thirsty anyway so gas mileage shouldn't suffer or may even improve.@@JustMoparJoe

If you would have stated that you were quoting your dad, I guess I would have understood, sorry for the misunderstanding. Now can you explain why 340's are good on gas and 360's drink like a fish. I personally wish Chrysler would have raise the deck height on the 360 and went with a longer rod. That would have made it a more efficient engine I believe. Your thoughts?@@JustMoparJoe

I know exactly what you’re talking about with that rear rubber oil pan seal. I just put a deep oil pan on my 360. I tried 3 different ones, all the same. Almost like they are too long. Hopefully I don’t get a leak.

Hi Joe I noticed that the rocker arms are ground at the valve retainers and springs... you are the one who made this modification to eliminate friction! I would like to know more because I am currently having problems with my COMP CAM 901-16 springs and my rocker arms TANKS YOU!

I’m sorry buddy, these were used rockers. Any sheen that you see is from previous wear on the parts. They inspected well and were reused. This was an original mopar crate engine. Perhaps it was a factory deal. This one had the springs and retainers when I purchased it. Shoot me an email if you think I can help. justmoparjoe@gmail.comb

@@JustMoparJoe Naw, when you do a net search it will pop that 99 places have them but none of them have any stock. Its always sold out. Been trying off and on for about 3 years and no lucky sadly.

Im running a similar setup, same block and heads with 2.02s and 1.62s, a comp XE284H and about 10.5:1 with a balanced crank. I have not started the engine to do the break in yet as I'm looking to get my 74 D100 reinforced a bit more first. I want to see what this engine you got does 🔥

I’m running the same intake on my 318 and I had to set the rev limiter to 6500 to keep from inadvertently revving over 7000. I have stock rods in it with ARP bolt and I would hate to brake a rod lol

Thansk for asking. I would think it'd be a solid 350 horse and over 400 foot pounds of torque from 2,500-4,000 rpm. Perfect for a street driven heavy ramcharger without an overdrive.

Hi Joe. What size in inches are the bolts connecting the engine to the clutch housing on a 318 engine? In Poland we have the metric system (Pulp Fiction)😁 I'not have oryginal bolts...

They are 3/8” bolts that are usually 1 1/2 inches long. My great grandmother came off the boat from Poland. 🫡

Just noticed the crank sensor mount and motor mount holes indicating a Magnum block. It does have the oiling for the LA heads. What year is that casting?

This one is a 93 model. I believe it was commando crate engine from that year

Crate engines were contracted to Cummins during that time. It may have been a crate engine. Mopar used their own pistons without any logos in the crate engine program. The crate engine program used warranty return or surplus production parts where possible. The blocks were either standard or .020 over

@@johnroberts837 interesting! The only info I could find on these kb pistons were that guys found them in their crate engines. It gives it around 9/1 compression and they have the asymmetrical valve reliefs. The crank was also stamped with a full date code and 93 on the end. I don’t recall seeing that on any LA engine I’ve been inside

Talked to a retired Mopar parts rep. He told me you have a very early crate engine built by Cummins Reman in Memphis. Cranks were balanced @ Southern Performance (closed/retired) under contract to Cummins in Southaven, MS.

Greetings! I like the mad blaster coil, but the one that is vibration resistant. All coils can’t be side mounted anymore. Cheers!
