This is my school!! My theatre department opened for him with excerpts of our show of Legally Blonde, and we got to have a great workshop with Ramin beforehand. He is SO nice and really chill. He and I had a long talk about his tattoos :)
Usually, I'd agree with you. But since this was in a concert setting, I don't think they were sticking to the strictness of the characters. A lot of people (believe it or not) had never heard that song. So, the story line is obviously lost on them. I think they both put in enough emotion for the audience to connect. It's clearly a tender moment between the two of them. The crowd loved the performance and in the end, that's what matters.
@ohmylitan You are very welcome! I'm glad I could share my concert experience with all of his fans. And I love reading all the wonderful comments these videos get. He's an amazing performer.
every time I decide which song of les mis is my favourite, I stumble upon some Ramin version and fall in love with a new song... well, even Marius whom I find most annoying in almost every production sounds perfect from Ramin Karimloo!!!
I think these two should be in the next le mis anniv, theyre both great... Her voice is as crystal clear as Lea's(but ofcourse Lea is exeptional) just wow.. :)
Thank you @jennaveeve for saying what I wanted to. How terrible to start the new year insulting a sweet talented girl who sang the song exactly as it was rehearsed - and sang it beautifully. I have seen it performed both ways in concert style - one is not more correct than the other. She also performs a song from "Millie" called Jimmy that breaks off at the end due to her seeing him with another woman - however, concert style i- you sing it through because it would be out of context .
Tony Arroyo Yup, pretty much. When my roommate convinced me to watch The Phantom of the Opera. I jump into my obsessions pretty quickly. I've already seen almost everything RU-vid has on him.... :)
Ramin would be perfect for any male part of Les Mis. In a perfect world, there would be a Les Miserables production where Ramin plays all the male characters. I would get a heart attack out of that perfectness. Just... can't *turns away in phyiscal pain of Ramin's singing*
This is my favorite song from Les Mis so maybe i'm the only picked up on the fact that Maddy sang "Grow" at the very end... She is supposed to be dead at that moment and every other version it's just Marius singing it, it takes away from the emotion of him holding his dead best friend, they also made this song too pretty, it's supposed to be a very emotional song and you don't feel the pain in their voices.
She sings it too beuatiful, I mean in this song she's dying, so weird version. But I do like her voice. So don't take it the wrong way. And he would be perfect for this part in Les Mis!
Yeah, it seemed that way, yeah I suppose, I guess I just assume anyone watching this would know Les Mis so they would want them like in character. True the audience is the most important part, without them none of this would exist.
why insult her?? That's how the song was written in the first place. They altered the performance for the musical, but in the end the song was written for both of them to say 'grow' at the end. Maddie's performance was amazing, why can't you be nice and say something positive. Also she is not a twat at all. Considering the song has a female singing more than a male she isn't hogging it. Also the nasty thing/person here is you. Everyone is entitled to their opinions, but yours was just nasty.
They have great voices for sure, but for me this version (the guitar and how they sang it) sounded more like a pop song. In my opinion they could have sang it a bit more emotional.
Maddy is a joke. *saying this after endlessly listening to Lea's rendition* Sorry, Maddy has no depth. She addresses the hurt/pain the character feels by making her damn high voice louder... While she does meet the notes, her lack of control and presence in the character is telling of her singing ability.
She sings with too much power... she is supposed to die here... And Ramin seems too self-centered. He's not a single moment really with her but more occupied with his own voice.. Pity
