hear that riff at about 2mins, I read that the producer asked after recording if they could add a little something extra so johnny reluctantly added that later. he was mind blowing and could have done so much more but liked to keep it simple and didn't give a shit...I awoke one night and heard that entire riff go off in my mind and thought "what was that?" then laughed and said "well guess I been affected"
Am i the only one who thinks it sounds like Joey is singing: "because i am a FAT KID!! a FAT KID!!" instead of singing: "i am Affected!, Affected!".... Lolz!!!! Maybe it's just me!! Hahahaha!!!! 😆😂👍👍
Phil Spector did a terrible job producing this track. "We Want the Airwaves" is basically the same song off their follow-up album, but with significantly better production by Graham Gouldman. It makes you wonder whether the band also hated the production on this song.
I think he did a great job. The problem is a subpar vocal performance from Joey in certain parts and also weak lyrics in certain parts but the production is one of the redeeming qualities of this track in my opinion but I love Spector’s work so there is that.
Yeah Joey apparently is on record saying that he was shocked at just how bad this particular song sounded. It’s hard not to agree when you hear how powerful the live version sounds when compared to this.
@@willsaenz6320It doesn’t sound remotely bad though, not everything needs to sound like a live recording on a studio album. Listen to it in mono and turn the volume up.
@@j.c7719 I mean it's in the eye (or ear) of the beholder. You think it sounds good and that's fine, I think it sounded muffled and oversaturated and Joey seemed to agree, and that's fine too.
