My 12 year old son wore his Rancid shirt to school the other day and told me his science teacher hi fived him and said "That shirt brings back lots of memories!" 😃😂
Tim got confused when they said they were shooting the red hot moon video and thought they said Red hot chilli peppers video. That's why he came as Anthony Kiedis
And out come the wolves was the first album I heard from the fellows of Rancid. I was in high school back then. Now I'm 38 with a 12 year old daughter with a Punk attitude who does what she wants instead of a crowds wants, and plays a saxophone in a first chair position for her schools bands. Honour Roll is "eh" because she gets bored but she's a good kid, and I'm happy we share Punk together.
My dad ended his life a couple months ago he always used to play this song for me when i was little it brings back so many memories. Love you so much dad. Love rancid forever 🤟
If you listened to Rancid as a 10 year old and you are a full fledged adult I know you are a savage, and I mean that in best way possible! Don't ever let the haters stop you from doing your thang! That's what this band taught me, but always be safe, caring, and respectful of others autonomy. These guys are my chosen uncles haha. Love them for life!
Well, I didn't discover Rancid until '98 but I'm still punk AF at 63. My son gave me a Tim Armstrong figurine for Mother's Day cuz I said f**k flowers I want Tim! I wear my Punk Til I Die t-shirt all the time.
When I first heard this song I was like 14 and I fell in love with it instantly. Things were darker those days, I was in state custody and I thought I'd end up like Casey. Well, 11 years later I'm working as designer and doing a MSc in energy engineering. I'm getting my license in like 3 months so I won't even have to take the bus downtown... :)
My first impression of Rancid was WTF !! my son listened to them over and over again and this music grew on me so much that I brought him to a Rancid concert and loved it !! Im 42 and will listen to this until the day i die. Thanx Bret
I'm 40 and have been a Rancid fan since I was 16! I'll never stop listening to ska, punk & 2tone. Check out The Interrupters if you like the ska side of Rancid!
Rancid is from your childhood time. My boss is same age he grew up in late 90s early 2000’s. He is punk and also told me life was like American pie 1 and 2. Life was simple in those time. Now just phone zombies.
I'm 68 and I'm still seeing these guys whenever they play in the SF Bay Area. Hopping around the pit at a Rancid show takes 20 years off you! So I guess I'm really only about 14.
Under a red hot moon, take a bus downtown to the graveyard shift tonight Under a red hot moon, take a bus downtown to the graveyard shift tonight Casey's from Cali, California She's got a reputation that she didn't ask for She's waiting for an escape now, escape is called the one sixty four Now, Casey, she won't admit when she is wrong Now Casey, she wants to run, run, run She's a punk rocker, she don't trust no one On a south end bus all alone Under a red hot moon, take a bus downtown to the graveyard shift tonight Under a red hot moon, take a bus downtown to the graveyard shift tonight Casey was never caught up, like the rest of the rats in a fucking maze Check me out she said, I'm in a concrete jungle I'm an individual and you are stuck in a haze Oh hell no, she knows what the truth is Because she said so, she knows who her friends are So fuck you, don't get no closer It'll only make her run far away Under a red hot moon, take a bus downtown to the graveyard shift tonight Under a red hot moon, take a bus downtown to the graveyard shift tonight I know Casey's brother pretty well, you see We spent a lot of time hanging out I always thought for sure that she'd be the one To get out of here and make a life for herself But when we found her in the little league park In the dugout it was cold in the dark And no one knew why she wouldn't wake up I think she finally made it back home Under a red hot moon, take a bus downtown to the graveyard shift tonight Under a red hot moon, take a bus downtown to the graveyard shift tonight [Rob Aston:] One time for your mind, two times for your soul Three for the graveyards and the money I fold Dimmed out in the city where the sun burns slow No hope, it's a pity, I can't say no Not my time to go, it's not my time to die The last thing I want is for my mother to cry It was love at first light the very first night, things have never been the same since I took my first flight The way I live my life, I love; I live lavish Lost me from the start, you lose, you'll never have it Untouched, unleashed, back up, you don't want it Stick 'em for his cash, it's back, now he's fronting Take two and pass, I'll take two and blast Bust a motherfucker; I'm out on a flash Pimped out, high as fuck, I'm out of control Let's bounce, rock, skate, man I'm ready to roll Under the red hot moon Under the red hot moon Under the red hot moon Under the red hot moon Under the red hot moon
this song is what started my love of this band, complete random click, entirely by accident, best accident to date!👍 now im in love with Punk and most definitely LOVE THIS BAND- RANCID!
+deaderthendead041 Try listening to Operation Ivy if you haven't already, it's the same singer. Also The King Blues would probably be up your ally. They're a contemporary ska punk group. I'd reccomend ooking up Let's Hang the Landlord or Set The World on Fire
+Chris Seaby well not necessarily the same singer, as Jesse Michaels was the singer of op ivy, but yea Tim and Matt were in op ivy. check out common rider, Interrupters, mighty mighty bosstones...good ska-punk!
Jay O'Donnell i was surprised at how easy it is to enjoy the music, and i totally agree they so have that effect got me hooked for sure and probably many others, glad they are playing gigs again cant wait to see em live!
Rancid will always hold a special place in me for being in my to 3 favorite bands no matter if I'm going thru a rap phase, an 80's phase or emo shit. they and the other top 5 (which isn't ranked just my 5 favorite bands) will never switch up for some other shit. Big ups to my dad for introducing me to the good shit
I grew up with a girl who reminded me of Casey. We grew up in a small town, we were in the same classes from kindergarten all the way through high school. She had a rough home life and turned to alcohol and drugs in her late teens to cope with it I guess. When I left town for a better life, she was into crack and heroin. When this album came out I'd often shed a tear thinking about her. It's been 21 years since then and I'm happy to say my friend turned her life around, she's clean and has a beautiful family. Now I cant help but smile whenever I hear this song. Thanks for reading my story.
For those saying Brits invented Punk Rock, sorry but you're wrong! Americans invented Punk Rock. It originated in the US, in New York around the late '60s and become more known through the '70s 😊😇😏😎
Grew up in Los Angeles listening to this band. The past couple of years I spent living in Oakland and Alameda using the BART and my old Buick to get around, kinda surreal to roll around bumping this song, Rancid made me feel like I knew the area lol. I know this video is filmed at CBGB but they are a bay area band
I was 15 when I first heard of Rancid I got really into them fast! Saw them live when ever and could! Still listening today I love Rancid and will always love them! They bring back such memories and their music just rocks! Even my dad likes them! He has for years now!
0:41 "she's a punk rocka" you know she a punk rocka because instead of saying, "hello, how do you do" she instead snarles. You know, cause she's an edge punk rocker!
Why the fuck do peops inisist on fronting Rancid and calling them out as not being Punk! Who the hell cares!!! Tim's talent advanced punK for our new decade.
Love this,40 yrs old,I remember when this song, album came out ,still great in 2017.I grew up in Sactown Ca.,(basically upper bay area)listening to Rancid ( Op Ivy) ,early Greenday , NOFX,etc ,what a time to be alive in the 80's and early 90's. Punk Rock ,isn't dead ,its just underground again!!!
I don't get why she died in the video was there dope in the brown bag or was it booze or glue cus out of those dope is the most likely but who puts dope in a brown bag can anyone explain
I grew up going to cbgb's and I stood online to get in for this vid never made it story of my life stayed outside heard it all many ppl hanging it was more fun outside than inside haha
Under a red hot moon, take a bus downtown to the Grave yard shift tonight Under a red hot moon, take a bus downtown to the Grave yard shift tonight KC’s from Cali, California. She's got a reputation that she didn't ask for. She’s waiting for an escape now, escape is called the 164. Now, KC, she won’t admit when she’s wrong, now KC, she’s always run, run, run. She’s a punk rocker, she don’t trust no one on a south end bus all alone. Under a red hot moon, take a bus downtown to the Grave yard shift tonight Under a red hot moon, take a bus downtown to the Grave yard shift tonight KC was never caught up, like the rest of the rats in a fucking maze “Check me out” she said, “I’m in a concrete jungle, I’m an individual and you’re stuck in my waste” Oh hell no, she knows what the truth is. Because she said so She knows who her friends are so fuck you, don’t get no closer, it’ll only make her run far away Under a red hot moon, take a bus downtown to the Grave yard shift tonight Under a red hot moon, take a bus downtown to the Grave yard shift tonight I know KC’s brother pretty well, lets say we spent a lot of time hanging out I always thought for he said that she’d be the one to get out of here and make a life fore herself but when we found her in the little league park, in the dugout it was cold in the dark. No one knew why she wouldn’t wake up, I think she finally made it back home. Under a red hot moon, take a bus downtown to the Grave yard shift tonight Under a red hot moon, take a bus downtown to the Grave yard shift tonight [Rap verse by Rob Aston] One time for your mind, two times for your soul three for the graveyard and the money I fold. Dimmed out in the city where the sun burns slow, no hope it’s a pity I can’t say no. It’s not my time to go, it’s not my time to die, the last thing I wants for my mother to cry It was love at first light, since the very first night, things have never been the same since I took my first flight. The way I live my life, I love; I live lavish, lost me from the start. You lose, you’ll never have it! Untouched, unleashed, back up you don’t want it. Stick him for his cash. It’s back, now he’s fronting. Take two pass, I’ll take to blast. Bust a mother fucker; I’m out on the flash. Pimped out, high as fuck. I’m out of control. Let's bounce, rock, skate, Man I'm ready to roll. Under the red hot moon. Under the red hot moon. Under the red hot moon.
