That's because it was meant to be a reference to Morphling, not a part of a full cycle, but Magic players are obsessed with cycles, so.

My favorite mega cycle is the "rare creature with choose 1 of 3 etb effects" started with charming prince, then we got the black in STX, blue in DMU, and red in WOE. (Technically we got a green creature that fits this description in WOE too, but all 3 of its effects care about adventures and the rest were theme agnostic)

People used to say that Stoneforge Mystic, Snapcaster Mage, Dark Confidant, and Tarmogoyf were an unfinished cycle of flexible constructed staples. Young Pyromancer was the closest to completing it before they fell out of playability.

Wow, people really will see patterns all over the place, especially when it's just noise. The idea that Goyf and Stoneforge have anything in common besides being 2-drop creatures is wild to me.

love magmatic force, you can punch someone for 12 damage every turn cycle if you want

Sometimes it's actually kinda hard to just gain a ton of life using one card, and Celestial Force does alright. Still got it in Horde of Notions, as there's not a ton of elemental related stuff you can do to just gain a bunch of life. Celestial Force is pretty low-threat for your opponents so it's generally gonna gain you a lot of life and not provoke a boardwipe by itself.

A few effects trigger off having gained 3+ life specifically too, though those might mostly check at the end of your turn. Still.

Maybe the problem is, what the white one would do? A token each turn was already in the green one. Tap something was added later to the blue one. +1/+1 counters? exile something?
