A short film I did about an Italian goat who wants to be a great inventor instead of the lowly dishwasher he is. This was part of the Random Cartoons Show which aired on Jan 24th 2009 on Nicktoons Network.
To the maker of this. I hope you know someone still remembers this cartoon you made. I was a kid when I watched this and as an adult I still remember it vividly and loved the quirkiness of flavio and pasta on a stick
I want to know why you have that nutsack physics cat as your profile. The dog in those cartoons also looks fu ckin stupid and the cat is a fat pot bellied loser.
I love it. The characters are intriguing and funny without having to be stupid, and they can still be relatable even if their adventures can get crazy. Wonderful animation; clean AND effective humor; Flavio's a nice and likeable guy with dreams like the rest of us; I can go on. Wish you all the best with working on TV, and please try to find some way to give us more Flavio, even if he can just be on the internet. With a lot of today's shows, we need stuff like yours if kids are going to keep watching TV at all.
just watching this show, makes me wish it had more episodes of it as I enjoyed the whole thing as I could get behind this show bit more, than the other one.
Thanks! Funny that you say that as I am actually trying to repitch it to Nickelodeon soon. Just went over the other scripts I wrote and I feel they're better that this one so... here's to hoping! If I could figure out how to get a ton more hits on this maybe they'll listen.
+Greatdictator Well yes I actually agree but I've currently GOT something going with CN at the moment and they won't develop two properties of mine at once so I gotta see this first one through first! Nick's reason for passing the first time? It was too much like Sponge Bob.
Yea i can see it , though i honestly think they'd get it simply cause its like spongebob XD . Though i think the fact that he wants to get out of his current job kinda makes a big difference.
Its so weird because I thought this was all made up in my head but seeing the thumbnail brought back the memories of watching this at Nicktoons at like 2 in the morning
I saw this cartoon while I was at the hospital, it reminded me so much of the earlier times where cartoons weren't just random things put together. It didn't take more than a few seconds that I got attached to the set of characters and their short backgrounds. I wish it were a series!
Dammit a lot of good ideas here. Like, Flavio's inventing makes the food a big fad, and gets a rival who tries to steal their secrets! That'd be awesome.
So let me get this straight Rob Paulsen had a choice with Nick with either a Italien invented goat in a pizza shop or a mutant pizza eating karate turtle?
awwwww a cute little goat! Good lesson for this cartoon. Remember kids, always follow your dreams even when times are rough. Even when people make fun of you and think you can't do it. Follow them.
My oath to this cartoon: First, I would pledge this cartoon for being funny. It gives me a warm smile on my face, but sometimes it is crazily amusing. I would request you to give me as many love as you like. Second, I have no doubt that this cartoon is created by love. All this cartoon had, was a friend. Crazy characters, funny climax, doesn't matter. It makes me feel warm in the inside. Finally, I love this cartoon. I hope it gives me strength, and that the universe will not be closed for good. P.S. I left you a robot emoji. ->🤖
Thanks! Greetings form Los Angeles! To answer your question, it was done with hand drawings. The storyboard was done digitally in a program called Sketchbook Pro and the coloring was done in ToonBoom but the animation was hand drawn. The backgrounds were done in Flash.
Oh darn! This is a wonderful series, truth to be told; I had never seen it! You've just got me inspired to keep up with my pitch for a series. Darn; great job on Flavio! Here's to hoping we could talk sometime!
Do I hear Dimaggio? I cant quite get whom Flavio is- it's in the back of my mind though. I personally loved that- Flavio is such an adorable and likable character
Well the short answer is that I heard they were wanting to do 3d animated series and Fanboy fit the bill. They also said it was too much like Sponge Bob which I disagree with. I'm gonna keep trying to get it made though.
"Well, no. Actually, if you try to completely suppress your undesirable feelings, they'll build and build and eventually explode." #psychonauts "Why don't we go back to my place and play house? You be the door and I'll slam ya." #mafia2
And after viewing your site and seeing some of the Flavio extras, I'm finding it an even greater shame this didn't turn into a series. I would've loved to see where these adventures were going to go. Especially with an invention like "chainsaw shoes."
Thank you VERY much! It was a ton of fun to make. I am hoping one day Nickelodeon will see the light and redevelop it into a series. I guess we'll see!
Saw this short now, and I have to say, this is a delight to see! It's a shame that Nickelodeon decided to give this the boot and instead air reruns of SpongeBob SquarePants (in which is a good show, but the way that Nickelodeon airs it...), but I can help on making the final show to continue Flavio's adventures. But still, that was a good short. Sad that all Nickelodeon does nowadays is bring back their old properties and leave the good, potential ones shown on all of their incubators in the dust and shown as one-offs.
Yeah I don't have the Nicktoons Network either. I guess it's a small network. glad you got to see it here though. I believe there are other Random Cartoons online as well.
i love this i cant wait to see this show on Nicktoons. im glad its A 2D Cartoon not 3D But i have to admit that Fanboy and chum chum is a great and funny 3D Cartoon
This short was just awsome. The animation was fluid, the characters are all creative and likeable, and the voice acting was awsome too. Great job dude. ;)
@stephenstudios Thanks for the kind comments Stephen! I'm glad you like it! It's my favorite cartoon I've done so far. I'd love to do more episodes, but unless I can get funding to do it, I don't think it will ever happen as I just don't have the time. I have tons of stories written revolving around flavio's home life as well as at the restaurant, but I doubt Iwill get the time to animate them.
Nice cartoon, I see your distinctive style, especially the way you draw the eyes. And on a side-note, the pig boss reminds me of Peter Griffin a little.
You definately still have the animation magic running through your veins, Mike. ;) Astounding, especially for a post-1999 cartoon. Such life! AND you got to work with recorded material from Rob Paulsen himself!
Hey, Mike! Did you ever get around to re-pitching this like you mentioned before? (On the side, I've loved this short since it first hit TV back in '09 and still firmly believe it could really be successful as a full series!)
seriously if i was a director of a broadcasting cartoon themed channel station i would pay you LARGE sums of money for a piece of this genius, but thats my opinion
Aw man this is an awesome cartoon, how I wish this was turned into a series, I actually loved it's simplicity.@milowerx aww too bad :( well you have to consider reality that once a cartoon show is sold to a network, they become the owners now, so that's quite unfair. I'm also an aspiring animator like you and I hope to be one someday too, good luck with your career :)
mighty parents. He didn't show any iniciative as a warrior but was a highly creative. He builded machines, just like in your cartoon. And lived a completly normal life. One day the robot race found the planet and is ready to attack it. And the little goat prince finds out that he is the chosen one and is the saviour of the cosmos. So he has a long road of strugling becoming a true leader and warrior to protect his homeland and revenge his parents.
That was really good! I think my favorite part was where Flavio freaked out and curled up in a fetal position. I also enjoy the way he announces his inventions.
ha its cool! this could totally become a show!! the reason i think people might like it because its not the spitting image of EVERY cartoon show out there: ppl being chased by one speciifc antagonist and they try to beat that antagonist. Its unique keep up the good work.. i wish i was as good !! :)
@NashiNashii Thanks for your kind comments! Flavio was voiced by Rob Paulsen... and Bossman was voiced by Bobby Costanzo who played Joey's dad on Friends.
