same! roosters was another great one, unfortunately didn't survive covid lockdown though. graywhale is also pretty awesome, for all retro media and there's a few locations in utah.
When I was a kid my mom would take my brother and me to the grocery store after school on Friday where there was a small rental section that had Nintendo games and VHS cassettes. We were allowed to rent two things- either two games, two movies, or one of each. It was the early 90s and life was good. Watching this video, I can almost smell the air in that small rental section of our grocery store. I can still hear the sound of the telephone ringing there as well.
Same here, getting Little Caesar's "Pizza Pizza" in the long box with the white paper and getting to rent a video game from the grocery was if I was lucky was the best thing
THANK YOU! You found a diamond in the rough. Hands down the best gaming store I've encountered in my home state, a little bit of a drive but well worth it. I got a genesis and have already gotten five games, only one of them loose, and all very well priced. They also don't put the stickers on the cartridges or the box, they put them on an outer seal - which is a huge win for me because I hate stickers!
I really loved this, you can seriously tell the tremendous amount of passion that went into this store, despite not physically collecting, this store really makes me want to start! ❤❤❤
Hello John, I really like your channel and your personality, u are calm and happy all the time. And its great to see u living out your childhood. Love from swedish gamer :)
I drove by this place once when I didn't have time to stop and then forgot about it. I need to come check it out! I live like 3 stone throws from this place!
ET is one game , I can remember watching a friend play on a big floor model television. So, early 80’s that store had soo many amazing games n thank you for this great tour
I love this store great pricing, amazing selection, and a fantastic owner. I go there about once a week to grab PS2 titles I still need for my collection.
So sad I missed the swap meet and missed ya in town! Minus World is probably my favorite retro store. If you're ever back in town, I know a couple others you can visit as well.
It does good to the heart to see these retro stores as I have none here. Thanks for showing your adventures there for us that can't go. Cool video John!👉😃👈
Minus World is an excellent game store! I live down in West Bountiful so it's not too far from me. I may not go there too often but occasionally i might hit it up and snag a game or two. Also, Tracy(the owner) is a great guy. He's really cool, super nice, helpful, humble, and willing to chat a bit. He also tries to be fair and understanding when it comes to pricing. I've gotten quite a few games from this place and i highly recommended that people check it out local or not.
Yeah, Minus World is the best place to shop within an hour's drive or so. It's the only one with any sort of Sega CD, Saturn, 3DO, Jaguar and even Neo Geo (no Metal Slugs). Problem with 3DO games is that whenever I look through them, I'm thinking, "got that one, got that one, that one too". I bought a boxes Aces collection for the PC there. It's just a show piece since I can't actually play them on computers any longer. I think the only thing that I've never seen there were Wonderswan games. Fun fact about Minus World; it's in the flight path for training flights out of Hill AFB. A couple of times I heard Lightning IIs roaring overhead.
Why can't these types of games stores be near me! The very first thing I noticed is most things were in bags that were loose and the prices on the bags. And what was not in bags had the price tags on the back and not on the freaking game label! I am so envious of you finding this game store I think I was also a kid in a candy store and or game store. ;)
I always enjoy when even the moderately priced games are not locked away. Most stores will just have the stack of Anticipation out only. They are a smash and grab deterrent.
I go here all the time. I've been to most retro stores in Salt lake city and Northern Utah. Minus and Numbskull are definitely my favorite. I've almost bought the wally bear game twice 😂
You have got to watch Porkys John. 20 years ago my wife watched it in the middle of the night for the first time. She woke me up laughing at least 3 times she was laughing so hard. She likes that movie more than I ever had but it is a great laugh to watch once.
Ah, John. Forgot to mention. You once reviewed Jessie Jaeger in Cleopatra's Curse for the Turbo Grafx. If you load that game up again, you will see the Minus World store logo. I was shopping there a few years ago and the owner told me about that game as his friend was about to release it. About to go up to Ogden now and I'm purposely waiting till the store opens so I can shop before having to see my parents. I haven't seen the video yet.
Some of those prices were OK, I guess. I got my Kid Chameleon for way less than 30 bucks though. And I live in Il where everything within 50 miles of Chit-cago is overpriced as hell.
It's okay, I was fooled by their non-glass case myself. I remember when they moved locations; I came to their old store and it was all shut down and I was so bummed out... Then I remeber that to get there I just had to slide through the wall before the screen scrolls over.
I spied Caesar 2 big box on those glorious shelves. That would have been straight in my basket 😮 The Warriors is a myst play Rockstar game 👌 You should've grabbed that SNES Cannon Fodder 😎 what a store!
John you were literally 3 blocks from me 🤣🤣🤣. Also I hope you hit up sills café for a scone and crown burger 😉. This just blew my mind that you were so close.
Camerica, an unlicensed producer of NES games, put the switch on the back of their games due to the "10-NES" lock-out chip. Basically, if the game wasn't working if the switch is position "A" switch it to position "B."
The M.U.S.C.L.E. game was a let down on NES but the GBA game isn't bad. I collected them when I was a kid. Blueprint on Atari is definitely a must. Great Arcade Hit!!!
I thought it was a glass case as well when i went there. When i saw my wife just reach in and grab a game I thought she might be part witch or something. 😂
