I love your videos. I’m from Aotearoa New Zealand 🇳🇿 and I run and operate my own trucking company as well. I do only off highway log cartage in excess of 100 tonnes with multiple trailers - Road train work. I used to own and operate a highway logging truck, an American 1996 Peterbilt 362 cabover I bought it off my brother when he passed away, he bought it off a guy we both knew who imported it from the States. I really like the old school trucks you have, the A model Kenworth and the K100 and semi the one your Dad did up ,, I watched your video on the blown hub seal on the rear driver ,,, I’m wondering, where are the breather valves located on your new truck ,,? If they’re on the actual diff housing you may need to regularly turn the top of the breather caps, as they can sometimes clog especially if you’re in a lot of dust or mud. Or you can run ordinary black rubber brake hose from the breather on the diff housing up inside the chassis rail towards the back of the cab where there is less dust and mud plus it’s higher up and mount the breather there. It’s quite a simple task, plus if you’re forwarding river or stream crossings it prevents water from getting into your differentials and mixing with your diff oil ,, you probably already know this and you’re correct about the seals blowing out so soon. In my experience that’s the only way they will fail or if they get damaged during installation or grit or dirt. Also, Disc brakes are heavier than drum brakes. They have their pros and cons like everything else. Disc brakes are better than drum brakes when it comes to equilibrium testing on brake machines at a testing station. How long does it take you to get to China and does logs help you float. That wrapper box to clean. A working man box has bark and dirt in it. I have more wrappers to add to the box and much more logging equipment. Got you name on it.
Yes, it was, we have had a couple muddy days so far. We are getting lucky we are moving closer to blacktop as it gets closer to winter. Yeah, trying to sell the truck but I'm not going anywhere, got a surprise coming soon, I hope. Thanks for watching and hope you had a great Thanksgiving.
