Today we're revisiting two scenes from earlier videos and using a material editor trick called PerInstanceRandom to randomize material instances in Hierarchical Instanced Static Meshes. We can use this to generate random colors for our boxes, or random wing flapping rhythms for our flies. This will maintain the performance benefits of using instanced meshes, while allowing you to add variations to the materials to make the scene look more natural.
