Tom Joyner interviewing Randy Jackson before The Victory Tour Show in 1984. Clip I re-edited. Credit to Original Owner. #RandyJackson #StevenRandallJackson #TheJacksons
Wow thank you I never saw this before. Every Jackson, even the parents, have this soft spoken, shy, sweet spirit about themselves which is appealing. That's part of the reason I love them so much. Thanks for sharing.
this man is a really talented brother , he is a drummer , keyboard player , songwriter and producer ; he wrote the bass line and the main keyboard melody to "shake your body down " also let's get something staight here , randy was a member of the jackson5 before jermaine left when he was a little kid they were basically the jackson6 ; he was'nt brought in to replace jermaine he was already in the group . we've got to learn to give props where they are do and get the facts straight . one iove .
Randy appeared on stage with the J 5 starting in 1972. But never appeared on an album cover during there time with Motown. And wasn't an official member until after Jermaine left.
Randy performed with the Jackson 5 from 72 on ,but was never signed to Motown as a member of the Jackson 5. Randy was not officially in the group until the group left Motown and Jermaine remained and the group was renamed the Jacksons in 76.
He looks like his mother and he doesn't sound like Michael. You all act like everything started with Michael...haha. Michael didn't give birth to Randy...haha.
My sister and I met and talked Randy at the airport in LA back after his accident before "Triumph" was released. He was there with his girlfriend, but took time to talk with us and gave us his autograph before we left to catch our plane. He still walked with a limp at that time.
@@robertgraves8881 i’ve never really known anything about him as an adult except that it was on Waze 98 ladies he abused his wife and she fled to Tina turner‘s house because she knew Tina turner because she used to date Tina turner son and she felt like she had a safe refuge with Tina because Tina had been abused by her spouse too. And that Randy broke into the house and Tina shop him. What do you know about his accident? That’s the first time I’ve ever heard of. I don
@@3rdGenerationCancer this man even writes songs for his sister Janet Jackson he knows how to play every single instrument known to man Michael Jackson has even said how talented he was with writing music
@@nathanlopez5667 dont know where the last comment went. I was typing to it and it disappeared but yeah,he did help with the last song she put out. Randy is listed as songwriter on it
@@davidhi8873 no he did not, and did he serve time no. You need to do some research because on all counts he was found not guilty and numerous times? I guess twice counts as numerous, come back when you find the truth
He doesn’t look like Michael and he certainly doesn’t smile like Michael. He looked more like Tito and Marlon. I guess he sounded like Michael and they do have very similar mannerism.
@@jamie5363L o l actually, he looks more like Jackie and Jermaine than he does, like Tito and Marlon.. Michael and Janet are the two siblings that look the most alike of all of them.. As far as the brother's Jackie is the one that looks the most like Michael .. However the two brothers that resemble the most are Jackie and Jermaine
@@Dahverin-kk4on Jermaine is an a-hole and he did quit The Jackson 5 at one point. Randy should take the lead vocals because he’s often compared to young Michael when he first joined the band.
Randy was extremely talented. It's hard to imagine that he didn't achieve greater success. He was a great performer and singer. I guess we can only wonder what happened. He could easily have rivaled Michael. Randy was absolutely great in his own right.
Siento que a los hermanos Jackson les faltó confianza para poder seguir carreras por separado o como grupo sin Michael, tengo entendido que algunos sí lanzaron discos en solistas pero pasaron desapercibidos, también la sombra de Michael era imposible de ignorar.
Randy is very talented as you all know, but if you haven't listened to his entire album "Perpetrators" by Randy and The Gypsy's I would encourage you to do so, it is a solid album with good songs from start to finish!
I think Marlon, Tito & Randy looked like they took more after Joe. Jermaine & Jackie looked like they took more of Katherine. As for Michael & Janet you could see both Joe & Katherine.
Yes, i thought they were twins when they were lttle yet. But suddenly randy went solo i think. All of the jacksons are very talented, sweet, sof-spoken and a little bit shy 😍😘
Oh, no not even close. Micheal and Janet definitely look alike and not to sound mean or rude but out of all the Jackson Brothers Micheal, is the only handsome one, the other are average but Micheal, was the handsomest.
I saw this entire interview it was very long, very classic and interesting this seems like just a clip. But I appreciate it. The brothers after Rand finally grew up to them. They looked like 6 tuppets on stage with the Victory tour. I was surprised when they took the hood off the Creaton chusher it was Randy that was under the hood. 😂 SUPER composer and Musican. Marlon always talk about his brother Randy Shoveling the Funk. He did have a terrible accident and they did say he might not walk again. BUT the Triumph woooow and the Victory tour. He Jumped right in there. I loved so much to see them all together at the 25th Motown and Michael says My Brother Randy!! And the last I saw them together was the Anniversary special. They all had their original spot on that show. Now they are back and No Michael but no Randy neither. I saw he was hanging out with Janet now as she tours. I wonder will they do anything together later? People miss him he was a great backbone. Let alone all of those family problems and stories. He still have 4 beautiful children. Looking like little Randys.... Well now younger Randys. And Stevanna is not Janet's daughter where a lot of people used to mistake her as her secret. She was named after her daddy. Steven Randall Jackson. Thanks for the video. He was so fine with hair. That was the Jackson's legacy that hair. Their children have gorgeous hair now. 2021
Randy Randall Jackson is the most beautiful amazing adorable gorgeous handsome and the most talented entertainers singers songs writers and dancers and Randy can play alot of instruments the most amazing genuinely talented and very precious to all of us thankyou for posting love from Perth Western Australia cheri xxxxooo and all of my family and friends we love all the Jackson's brothers and sisters and all of their families xxxxooo
Happy New Year. The Jacksons did record an album together around 1999 but it still remains unreleased. They had also planned on reuniting in 2009 but Michael got the offer to perform solo for This Is It. The brothers had planned on joining him on the show's last dates and they planned to do a full reunion tour in 2011
Michael left the group in '84 when all six brothers were together for the Victory tour after Jermaine reunited with them. Michael then went super solo. Only 17 years later in 2001 were they all back together for Michael's 30th solo anniversary. In truth, Michael was as much self centred as Jermaine was and cared only for himself and his public image. But when Michael ran into legal problems with child molestation allegations that were later proven false, it was Randy who was coordinating Michael's legal team with the support of his family as they all camped at Michael's Neverland ranch. Michael surrounded himself with yes men and paid a heavy price. With his brother's they would not hesitate to tell him the truth, which he didn't always want to hear.
Lmfao its crazy funny to me how all of them talk the same from the father to the son. All of them sort of have the same kind of cadence and rhythm to their voices as well as the softness
They get their tone and their ability to sing from their mother. All of them, the girls included. Mama had some strong genes, and Joe had strong genes. Good breeders!
Michael Jackson should have continued to make albums with his brothers as the Jacksons. Solo album then jacksons album, solo then jacksons and so forth. No one is bigger than the group which happens to be his own family. Jermaine was stupid too leaving the jacksons to stay at Motown. The victory album was the definition of a complete group. Although, throughout the jackson 5 era Randy was around playing instruments but nit yet officially part of the group until they moved to Epic.
Jackie, Michael, and Randy looked the most alike, they were sooo hot! If Michael were still alive and had never had surgery, he would look like them today, probably more Jackie as Michael would never be heavy, and Randy's put on some weight..
it's kind of sad that the guys, minus Michael, couldn't have had more success, i've been watching a lot of Jackson family videos on RU-vid and it has reminded me of what I always thought, that they deserved to have just as much success as Michael, because they were all highly talented in their own right and not to mention they all had the look to do anything or they should have! I am a Jackson fan from back in 1983, with Michaels Thriller album, though I have studied EVERYTHING about them from before Thriller and The Victory Tour 1984, I even got my hands on old fan magazines from 1970s 1980s, though since I lived in an all white suburb, the only fan mags I found in garage sales were aimed at white kids, but they were very popular in those magazines too, but I always wanted to find some Right On Magazines with them, because I knew they wouldn't have had to share the magazine with the Osmonds! Early today I saw one with Marlon, and I felt sad for him, because he was not only talking about putting out solo album one day, he said he wanted to act, this was in 1984, and he like all the brothers, was really cute, I noticed that ALL the brothers have these kind eyes and smile a lot, and all but Tito has a soft voice when talking, I think they all would have been good in movies or tv shows, but considering how right wing media mostly, started even that far back, trying to destroy Michael, though also his brothers as well, but in a lesser way, mostly claiming the brothers were jealous and resentful towards Michael, also that they needed money and were making Michael do the Victory Tour, that his mom Katherine had to beg him to do it! Which wasn't true, they had plenty money, in the interview I saw with Marlon he and his wife had just did some renovations to their family home, some REALLY fancy renovations too, not cheap stuff, so that was bullshit! I just think it's a shame that the other brothers didn't have as much success, especially when there were so many wannabe Jacksons around from those times, right up into the 1990s, who were nowhere near as talented or looked as good as any of them did, when they were young, but heck even now they all don't look that bad, and they're all in their 50s and 60s now! Oh and when I was talking about the Jackson men all looked good back then, I was kind of including Michael, but not so much from 84 on up, but 83 on back instead! I mean if he wanted to be kind of pretty, he should have stopped with the way he looked on the cover of Thriller at least, I mean the album sold 25-30 million, so I don't think anyone had a problem with his looks, I mean I noticed him when I saw Billie Jean, and that was it, I was hooked, but at the time I didn't know he had changed his looks, I thought that was his look, lol! But later when I found out what he really had once looked like, it didn't matter to me, I thought then and I still do think, that he was cute and handsome back in the late 70s, if he wanted or needed to change his nose, ( it's said his first nose job was because he had broke it during an accident ) then he should have stuck with the first one! I frankly think Michael should have stayed with his brothers, instead of leaving them, but I feel that he had been planning to leave them as far back as the late 70s, I think without his brothers around Michael lost himself, and let his success go to his head too much, I mean I ALWAYS enjoyed him WITH his brothers better, once I got to see them or hear them together! I mean with Off The Wall and Thriller he was great, but he would have been better if he still did solo albums, but still worked with his brothers on new The Jacksons albums, while they too did solo albums or whatever they might want to do! And then tour together, and perform their solo stuff together! I mean when Michael went on tour with the Bad album and then the Dangerous tour, other then a few of Michaels new songs, the only thing different performance wize was that his brothers weren't with him, it looked weird, with a bunch of nobody dancers and back up singers, none of those people could hold a candle to his brothers, none of them! I frankly believe he would have had more success after Thriller/Victory, if he had stayed working with his brothers, off and on, not just totally walk away like they don't exist anymore! I frankly thought Michael really did let his success and how the media would always make more over him, then his brothers, go to his head, and that always bothered me about Michael, I think he would have benefited a lot himself, if he hadn't turned his back on his brothers, which like it or not he did, and they didn't deserve that either!
All the brothers had their chance in the 80's."As much success as Michael" !? Like being the solo performer of the biggest selling album off all time for a black artist the time of its release ("Off The Wall" in 1979), and later on, being downright the solo singer/ songwriter of the biggest selling album of history, regardless of race ? No. Michael was obviously a special piece, and the family, though talented as a whole was very much aware of it. It has been confirmed and documented that MJ wanted to leave the Jacksons during the beggining of the year 1980, after the release of the "Off The Wall" album and the end of the "Destiny" tour., but he did the "Triumph" album and the "Triumph" tour in 1980/1981, and a few years later, the "Victory" album and "Victory" tour, to help his brothers financially, it was not rumors, it was facts. Even that "Pepsi" commercial when his scalp was burnt to the third degree, was made to help his family in the beginning. Near the end of his life, the family was still trying to convince him to do a "Jackson Family Tour". Janet kinda admitted it in her doc, even though they were pretending it was "interventions" to help him. So you know that your male sibling has health or "addictions" issues, but you still want him to do an exhausting tour ? That doesn't make any sense, their real motive from the beginning was to persuade him to do a tour. Let's take Randy, he hardly performs with his brothers nowadays. Yet, you don't hear stories about Randy being harrassed by his siblings to do family projects, but if MJ was alive... MJ was among the youngest of the bunch, but his older siblings and parent would rely on him a lot, he felt locked so he wanted to leave, he was not the first nor the last to leave his original group. And when you mix family and showbusiness, it can be difficult. Janet was not in this situation, she didn't have to deal with her older siblings' professional requests. Also, don't just blame Michael for his plastic surgery, blame also his brothers and especially his father for poking fun at his looks, at his ethnic features when he was a kid/teenager, add to that the fact of growing up into the spothlight, while being the front man of a popular group. And don't forget that Michael had been dealing with huge fame since childhood, it is easy to say that "success went to his head" , "he should have done this or that" when you never experience it yourself
Michael Jackson did turn his back in his brothers for individual glory after the Victory tour, and he paid a heavy price for it. With many managers around Michael persuading him to drop his brother's they promised him untold fame and fortune. In truth, those manager's simply wanted to control him and shape his outlook on life in terms of his image and personal habits. The manager's knew that if Joe Jackson and the brother's were around they wouldn't have it so easy. The problem that Michael could never figure out is that the yes men, were first looking out for themselves and could hardly care with the damage that Michael endured with the tabloids. Have you ever seen those manager's coming out to consistently defend him, no. They would simply tell him, issue a press release to calm them down. But you will always see Michael's family defending him publically. Michael did let the fame and fortune get to his head while portraying a Peter Pan image and donating much to charity.
@@hitmaniaatlantic7314 Michael did not turn his back on his brothers. He’s not obligated to help them with anything out….Michael had his own life and his own dreams and he’s not gonna hold himself back
@@nakitawilliams4259 you're right, he had no obligation towards his brothers. I agree with you in your statement that had he stayed with them he would've been able to navigate his mental health much better than being surrounded by those hanger on managers. In truth, Joe Jackson was the grounding force that could repel negative attacks and protect Michael and his siblings. Joe did this as the group's founder amd manager, albeit with his strict and disciplinary methods. It worked during the Jackson 5 and The Jacksons era. Michael allowed the fame and fortune to get to him as wanted to be invincible. With yes men surrounding you, you'll eventually crash. Just like Mike Tyson when he let go of his long time trainer Kevin Rooney and forged ties with Don King. Luckily Tyson recovered, but sadly Jackson didn't. 😥
@@hitmaniaatlantic7314 Michael didn’t allow his fame and fortune to get to him. Is it wrong for him to want to create his own road? It’s obvious he was meant to be a solo artist. Same thing happen to Lionel, Smokey, diana and patti labelle….all of them started in groups and went to pursue their own dreams. You can’t hold it against Michael because he chose to create his own sucess, you can’t blame MJ because he had the “it factor” and had the most determination.

Here he kinda reminds me of michael in the mannerisms and his way of talking and the way he answers the questions it just reminds me of michael for some reason but only in this interview..am I exaggerating or in this interview Randy seems a little Mello and possibly on his pain medication due to his accident..and layer came out in 2009 when michael passed Randy in an interview reviled he had an addiction when the interviewer brought up Michael's drug use
He doesn't look like Michael at all maybe on this interview but not anymore now that he's grown. His voice on this interview also sound's a lot like Michael's . But I don't know about now because randy hasn't been doing to many interview's lately like the other brother's.
True Michael said that Randy was the most talented musician in the family, I also feel that The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame should have inducted all 6 brothers being that Randy co-wrote the group's biggest selling hit of all time. Randy was however inducted into the Vocal Group Hall of Fame with his brothers in 2001 and was honored by BMI in 2008
Is it me, but why does Randy keep licking his lips?? Looks like Marlon & Michael’s movies never went ahead! 😆 The interviewer incorrectly states that Randy is the youngest of the 9 Jackson children, when in fact he’s the 8th Jackson sibling (but the youngest Jackson brother), Janet Jackson is the 9th & the youngest Jackson sibling. Randy looked the most like MJ (among the brothers), talks & has the same mannerisms as MJ. Interestingly, Randy & Jermaine share the same baby momma! Today, Randy looks like his late father, Joe Jackson.
But.....what do you do about the HEAT? I jog But...what else do you do about the HEAT? UHHH, I walk That's great, so is anything else you do about the HEAT? Uhhhhh......uhhbbh.....I play basketball?
I’m still laughing becuz Tom thought Randy would be an interesting interview. If it was a pecking order for interviewing Jackson’s it would be Michael, Janet, Jermaine’s hair 😂, Tito, Joe, Marlon, Jackie, Mama Jackson, Rebbie, LaToya & then Randy
Randy had a lot going on back then...but it was concerning more with his personal life. He almost died and the news was everywhere. The dude was out of control back then. Randy IS interesting..he just knew too much to give Tom any information. He had been media trained enough to not run his mouth.
If he wants to be like he's in brother what right do people have to question that. Personally I don't see anything fake, just genes, that's how it works.
