The Mag Four crossfader tension can be adjusted by removing the fader plate and adjusting the flat head screen on the fader body. Turning the adjustment screw to the right adds more resistance, and turning to the left makes the crossfader lighter.
I might be the only DJ on earth that Djs on turntables 4 times a week but was underwhelmed with the Rane One. I have large hands so the small moving platters didn’t do much for me. Mobile gigs I use the SRT but dropped it last week. Long story. Ended up picking this up yesterday and haven’t even plugged in yet but the jogs feel a lot more sturdy and less plasticey than the SRT. Can’t wait to play with it. As always, great follow up CT
Honestly I'm quite happy because having an alternative to the 1000SRT that feels as good and reliable is great, specially on my side of the world where the SRT is just almost impossible to find and purchase without waiting several months so having something I can look at as a same level (if not better) option is a great benefit
Now it’s the right time for Rane to make the 4 channel mixer only (like the rane 68) with the same fx and steams capabilities of the Four for the dj’s that don’t want to buy a controller and prefers just the mixer … by the way excellent review 👏👏👏
its great but i cant stand static jogs and i have the Rane 12s mk 2 and Rane 72mk2.Make this with spinning platters and i will get it and never mind the weight.
Issues I’ve heard: button(s) stop working. Plater(s) become non-responsive, weird buzzing noise while using the mic. Are these common? Have the been fixed/patched?
Rane one user here…good solid controller just not for me. Rane had to do this to capture the majority of the people who use controller that don’t care for moving platters. I have a feeling a Rane One MKII with some of the improvements you mentioned will be in line Thanks for the upload

To be honest as a Dj of 25+ years that grew up getting 12inch vinly with instrumentals and acapella’s. I don’t see using stems on the fly as a game changer. Yes I know it’s not the popular opinion but I just feel like it’s more gimmick and will be overused by people who are tone deaf. Everything record doesn’t need to be broken up. Only a few records are great on production and vocals to use and enjoy
I have always used Rane products, I like their quality and sound. Before having my first controller, I always used turntables with an interface and a real metal Rane mixer. When l did the transition to a controller (Pioneer 1000SRT) l was disappointed! Cheap recycle coke bottle made controller, it was like a toy for me! So l have been waiting for Rane to come out with a 4 channel metal controller and l guess my prayers were answered ! I will get mine next month
My thing is , it would be so cool if rekordbox had these capabilities to stems songs on the fly like Serato.. c'mon pioneer, I'm real close to grabbing this R4 & switch over to Serato, IDK 🤷♂️ 😅
yup, agreed. Although I hear they are coming out with an app where you can DJ off your phone or iPad on the controller. As a mobile DJ that would be a very useful feature especially as a backup.
@@klausmogensen8691 maybe. But it looks so cheap. Pioneer can built much better products than what I’ve seen of the FLX10. The Rane four feels more like a solid competitor to the 1000SRT than the FLX10 with its cheap bedroom dj build quality. Sure, if you’re gonna only use it at home it’s fine, but not out on the road every day.
So much on this beauty, I feel like it would take a solid month to learn and get used to it , to be efficient on stage. But very nice , I'm definitely interested in picking one up
For a person like me who likes to remix and mash-up this was the PERFECT buy for me. Have had my rane four since late march and i freaking LOVE it!!! I'm STILL learning stuff on it. Once i saw the specs on this i knew this was the one i had to have. Went from a numark party mix II (yeah i know... laugh it up) to a mixstream platinum to an NS4FX to the rane four.

I've watched this review and Mojaxx's review of the Rane Four several times. I've been looking for an upgrade from the Numark NS6II, and I'm leaning toward the Rane Four if I can't find a 1000SRT
I don’t mobile DJ anymore I’m now and on air personality country radio DJ but having my own studio I love this controller. I can’t tell you how long I’ve looked for controllers with the talk over feature and I can’t find any this controller is a win-win evidently my fans, love it. Split stems is a great feature The great part is that it's a fairly simply feature in itself - but it then opens up so much on a lot of the other features
CT....Im in the group that wanted this to have moving jogs..its the biggest box.. I want to buy it but still want the moving jogs..lol. You mentioned other options RE moving jogs, what are they, which have the level of stem control that R4 offers? I started to look at Rev 7, but then I saw the R4..... I have been using ns73 since 2018 but its reached the end of its life cycle.
I need some assistance. When I press the STEMS button to make the volume controllers split between the vocal and the instrument, it's not working for me. Moving the Channel 3 knob does nothing. Am I missing something or a step?
hello like the video a lot, very clear and all, I am a home dj some times I have a gig here and there. I was a dj back in the late 80s and 90s I had a numark mixer with 1200's turn tables the best I had to stop dj I had to go to college when I got back everything was different dj people was using cd's. so I got me a dual cd player with a new mixer EQ and all. then I found a job far away from home 20 plus years later I find my self dj again hahahah I got me a unmark 4 channel controller then I sold it to buy a pioneer ddd sz gold I loved it I had so much fun but then I sold that one to buy a denon x1800 with 2 sc6000. such a headache. pads weren't responsive enough slow and some how had a cheap feeling had it for about a year and sold it. was never happy with it..... I want to get back to dj for fun only. I am debating between rane 4 and ddj fxl10 Both with stems. how u feel about the pioneer???? also I like the pads to be very responsive to the touch I don't like to be pounding on them. thanks.
Geez -good review - Nick Spinelli trashed this controller and dont get me wrong i love his channel too he is funny and informative . Just probably need to go see both this and the Flx-10 in person cause i am a serato dj user .
CT you are really talking me in to replacing my beloved dj707m. Does the booth/zone allow for a deck assign? Like if your playing a wedding reception in one room and background in another on deck 4.

Hey Terry! Love your channel man! Liked and subbed! I recently got the Rane One and really enjoy it along with Algoriddim DJAY Pro AI. It would be cool to add this to the collection at some point in the future.
As usual, a truly great and insightful review. Although I want to put all the blame on the lack of moving platters, I got to be honest. I kinda promised my wife I wouldn't but another mixer in this price range after the NS7III. However, if it had the motorized platters, I'd be willing to break out the knee pads once more :D
The Pioneer rev 7 is perfect fader tightening knob and all the built in fx only issue with it was pvc jogs but I've been having a look at this controller to see whats up, thanks for ur time Cleveland.
I'd oddly love this as an alternative to my Rev7 for different types of gigs. I'd actually probably take the Rane out and keep the rev7 at home for scratch sessions

Thanks for the update and review, I really don’t use effects when I spin, could probably use one or two here and there, now I have to make a choice once NAMM hits with the new gear, I just invested in a Mesa Facade Table which the table seems too big and wide for my Rev-1 and Mixstream Pro lol soooo this Rane Four can look good in it…we’ll see soon. Rane one had no built in effects that was a big let down in my opinion other than that it was good my friend has had his for almost 1 year no issues at all .This four is a just great controller it has more control and effects than any other controller out from what I can see from the videos I have watched. I can’t wait till mine arrives next week .

I just purchased this straight from Rane since it's out of stock in stores, and I'm also moving from Traktor S4 MK3 that I bought in 2020 and learned on. I was reluctant to switch, which I'll still keep the Traktor because I'm a Maschine user as well and enjoy the link feature. I definitely have enjoyed toggling back and forth with the motorized platters on S4 MK3, but I'm no professional or turntablist so I'll get over it. Like you, I'm very excited to finally get to some stems and join the Serato gang! I honestly gravitated toward Rane due to what looks like a similar layout to Traktor. What do you think so far with your Rane? Has it been an easy transition? Pros/Cons? I'm nervous!😂
@@dillagence2 Nice! I love using maschine as well. The Rane 4 and Serato has taken a little bit to get used to, but I LOVE this controller. Being able to use stems on some songs has been really amazing. One thing I'm not crazy about is Serato's Bin feature. I've been trying to organize my music and Traktor felt more intuitive, but I've been using it for 10+ years, so I'm sure that's a big part of it. There's probably some trick/tip that I'm missing, but the layout itself is very close to Traktor, so that transition has been easy in that regard. I'm VERY happy with the controller so far. It's solid and a total beast. It can be a little overwhelming at first, but once you start playing with it, you'll get used to it. Let me know how you dig it when you get a chance to mess around with it :)

Why does the scratching audio sound so faint and like a low bitrate mp3 file? Have seen many clips and the scratching just doesn’t really match the music…almost like scratching with stems except not using stems…very odd
