Handbrake seized in a garage on my way to catch a flight. I was already late! Without this video there is no way I'd have made that flight. All the boards had said through the coffee cup holder. Your vid meant I made the flight and holiday. Thanks so much!
Fantastic advice. Jumped in my RRS 2008 today to go to work and then I hear that horrific whining sound while turning of the electronic park brake. It had well and truly seized. By following your instructions I manually disengaged it and have been able to drive it at least. So thank you for your video as it definitely got me out of a pickle. Cheers from West Oz.
Be a good idea to fit a large cable tie in to the pull cable to get a better grip on it anyway before you find you need it. Love your vids. Especially love how you show all the clips bolts etc. Good job.
Amazing! Just had my parking brake released, through your instructions. I called out a lad from the AA, and he went to your instructions, through me, and he wasn't quite sure where manual cable was. After showing hime your procedures, he was well impressed, as was me! MAny thanks Powerful UK Ltd! I am now a subscriber of your valuable channel!
Hey there, thank you for the video, it showed me a great deal, my brother and i was able to get the console paneling off, however, I got stuck there, couldn't find the brake pull pin to disengage the brakes. I have a 2010 Range Rover Sport.. thank you for you knowledge.
I had the parking brake get stuck on very recently. Range rover provide in were the Jack is, a hook for exactly the purpose of hooking the wire and yanking it. I have to tell you though, that I'm a big lad and a gym user and I COULDN'T pull it hard enough to get it off! My son, who is also a lump, had to tug it with me but it DID come off. The problem I have now is a flashing red parking light and I'm unsure whether having released it, if I can use the parking brake again or I have to seek qualified advice...any ideas?
i've had the same problem, when i engaged the parking brake it make this horrible whining noise, i quickly tried to release the brake but i got a warning message on the dash saying parking break malfunction, then i tried to start the car and all the dials just started flickering like crazy and the car wont turn on, then after a few hours it just magically started working... same thing with my transmission, when driven a little hard (as in going over 3500 RPM per gear) after about 10 minutes it will get stuck in a gear and hold at 3000 RPM but there will be no acceleration, you just stay at whatever speed you are at. I had the car brought to the dealership and they said the PB was because i had a bad battery (still have not tried the brake, dont want to have to go through the manual release process again) and they said "we disassembled the whole transmission and found nothing wrong". Im starting to think i have a bad fuse or something. BTW i have an 08 RR Sport Supercharged.
My brake is stuck on and this method didnt work for me. I got a screeching and now the park brake is fully locked on. Used my diag machine to reset it, mount it and recal it but the brake is locked. Any ideas what this could be?
Hi guys love your videos but I have a 2005 sport and the handbrake stuck and when I opened everything like you said there was nothing there to pull on. Do you know if the earlier model had this facility as it's most definitely not visible on mine 😢
Dear brother it worked with me and I drove my car back to home But I want to clarify one thing for left hand drive rrs I didn't found the wire loop in place where you showed and like other guy in forum It is placed under cup holders beside the gear knob which in middle small plastic cover just pop it out and you will find the wire loop clearly then with pull up press the e park brake button down then will release the brakes Thanks for your help brother
Hello good , I have a problem with electric handbrake my Range Rover Evoque 2012 and is not allowed to remove me in any way. It could take as it comes in their videos by pulling the ring ? Greetings and thank you.
Hi. I have a problem with the electronic hand brake with range rover sport 2.7 I have found the little cable I was pulling many times but unfortunatly I can’t unlock the hand brake. Can you sudgest me something please? Thanks
Say your EPB actually has no problem but u pull the loop to release the latch anyway just to see if it works. Then, when u set brake again, will it work? Or u need dealer to program to relatch it or something?
Man thank a lot really it happened to me today and I tried to figure it out from picture seen on some sort website they said to remove epb button and will find the loop but unfortunately I stayed for 1 hour beside the road then I left my car there to go back next day So I'll do it thanks brother
my parking brake light is on tires stuck when i push down light flashes and make a beeping,i pulled the wire about 3-4 inches out and still nothing car will not move. i put it on drive and it feels like it wants to ,move but tires and stuck . ive tried everything and im lost ...
People like you deserve to get good business for your efforts! Keep up the good work and thank you for the very useful tip, I hope I never have to use it!
I have a 2010 range rover sport and this worked a treat, thankyou so much, saved me today, can you then reset the flashing parking brake light on the dash do you know? X
nice video, me I add something, if you dont have the plastic zip tight to pull the wire u can use the hookbar that comes with your Jack its more effective
I drive a 2010 LR4, did remove the module, found the cable and pulled it hard. Did not do the job for me. My EPB is still stuck. Anything i should do different? Or should I apply a lever to pul the cable really hard? Thanks,
Pull it extremely hard it took 2 of us with a long cable and I thought we could not pull any harder or it might brake but then it just released, job done, good luck
I followed these instructions on my 2010 Sport, got the console part up at the back but it would not release the rest of the way as yours did, didn't want to force it, luckily I was able to see that cable loop and attach a coat hanger to it and pull up, but it wouldn't release the dam brake. Very informative none the less, thank you.
Thanks so much I know this thread is old but I had the same issue today. On the slightly newer models the loop is a little bit further down but same principle. It didn't work for a a few mins then I pulled so hard the cable tie snapped but it finally worked and I could move my car. :)
Hi there, I have a 2007MY L322 and I have a strange problem with my EPB. First of all I have no brake light on the cluster turning on...both park brake and brake warning light... Second I got a code U0128 (lost communication with the Park Brake Module) and third but more interesting, If i pull (and stay) the switch, the EPB stay engaged and working properly(no parking light at the cluster...) but as soon as I release the switch the EPB disengage. Would you know what it could be? tks!
Hi - if you get this error the best ( quick and cheap ) thing to try is to disconnect the battery for 10 minutes and then reconnect so the system does a reset and see if this helps. Let us know how you get on. This works for the L322 and all models !
same problem with my discovery, when this happens does anyone know how you re set it, the hand break system is only 14 months old , so surely not a new one needed ??????
Can you imagine you are stuck a few hundred of kms from the nearest town. How on earth someone work this out? If you are going to travel across Australia don't forget about your Toyota Landcruiser and leave your Land Rover at home.
For me works, but you have to pull with some tool and very, very hard, tehn you will hear a "click". The problem is that after free the EHB, the red ligth is blinking and the sahboard, I cant reset and the EHB is out of service. At least I can drive home.😊
Nice clear vid but why not show it using the gear provided with the car to pull the wire - there is a long hook in the back and screw driver that fits in a hole in the hook so forming a T piece and the hook end goes into the wire look and you pull on the T end (the screw driver) - just makes it a lot easier than maybe cutting your hands on a cable tie. Nice vid overall though.
Saved me too… Park brake sounded like a angry cockatoo then refused to release. Couldn’t release with finger had to get a puller in there. Owe you a beer…
can you remove the gear knob gaiter by pushing in at the base on each side ? does this give you enough room ? Or remove the cup holder with the sliding cover ?
powerfulukltd I managed to find the part that I pull under the cup holder and I pulled it but the handbrake sign blinking.. so I couldn't release it yet !
Wow. Making the parking brake release so simple and easily operated that even an unattended child could release it without leaving the passenger seat is BRILLIANT.
I detect a bit of cynicism - not sure that releasing the parking brake on an automatic is going to lead to much excitement. I keep my kids in the boot with the dogs... dont worry its a 7 seater !
@@L663.. well here's an update the breakdown guy came and within 5 mins he pulled the wire with a hook and it worked. So yes I must be weak it does take quite a bit of force. So thank you I'm on the road again. Excellent advice from yourselves. Cheers
