I'm a Mercedes fan but I believe as far as design is concerned the Velar is the best looking SUV in the market. Expect Mercedes to be superior when it comes to technology, performance when the 63 comes out, and reliability. Nice review , all the best.
Heily - no I have had zero problems, I had that fear before I bought it because of what people say about Range Rovers. the only thing you have to get used to is the touch control screens, but once you get the hang of it it’s great
If you exclude the looks inside and out and the driving fun, the GLE comes out on top, it has more tech, more interior space, better ride comfort, better cabin isolation, and better quality even though it is no Toyota
But so laggy. I have tested two today. I have also tried the Mercedes and it’s impressive, fast, bright, clear and doesn’t leave fingerprints unlike the Velar. Like the guy said, it looks way dated. Don’t get me wrong, the Velar is the one I’d take
It is slow, it often bug, especially the Apple-car play...I hate the metal ring on the steering wheel. It burns in summer and it is f#### cold in winter. I will go for the GLE 350 de for next car. By the way, you should not compare the Velar to the GLE. GLC would be more realistic. Let the GLE compare to the RR Sport.
Looks like for you It's much more important to have space to place your 2L Coke botle next to you when drive your fency GLE, instead to realy see what a great car it's RR. By the way i drove a Evoque 5 years without any problem and now i own a RR Velar wich It's a fucking great car. 🤘
I'm merging from my Evoque to a Velar, I'm so comfortable with the size of my Evoque, that I cannot tell, can you help? Or can you share which is the most you like from your Velar? TY.
@@alonsopicharra9947 I am very pleased about Velar, although it is bigger than the Evoque you get used very quickly with its size, I have the 240hp model and it moves very well.
I had the Velar R-Dynamic P380, and it was one of the most enjoyable vehicles I have ever driven. Also an eye-catcher (though I see other manufacturers are starting to copy some of the RR "trademarks" - angles, even the shape of the wrap-around headlights and tail lights). I only parted ways with mine because it was about to go out of warranty. In Dynamic mode, what a fun ride, and a wonderful supercharger spool sound from under the hood! I would say that the seats are quite firm, which is nice in cornering but can make a long trip a little uncomfortable. Additionally, vision out the rear window is limited. Exhaust signature is muted, even in Dynamic - if you want exhaust pop, go for its cousin, the Jaguar F-Pace. I now have the AMG GLE 53. It took me a week to figure out how multiple-redundant it was - perhaps a tad overcomplex. Put into Sport+ mode (the only way I think someone should drive an AMG), and it is a fun car as well, with pleasing muffler pop. The electric motor alows you to take off from a dead stop as if the turbo were fully spooled. Overall the interior is much more refined vs. the almost racecar feel in the Velar - almost captian's chairs vs. the Velar's bucket seats. The seats are comfy enough to take a long drive in and the rear vision provides a much bigger picture. On the "meh" side, you see a lot of GLEs - enough that they really don't stand out (even the AMG). Additionally, for a car this nice, they should have hidden the rear wiper under the spoiler - ain't that difficult. Bottom line - I'll take either one if offered - but only in the turbo (AMG) or supercharged (Velar) V6 or V8 (GLE 63 S and Velar SVR, respectively). Leave the four cylinders for the GLAs and Evoques.
Verry tough choise. At first when I saw the GLE I tought it looked too feminine, but after seeing it more and more I start too like it. I think style wise I choose the Velar. But Quality wise I choose the Merc.
I just click on the video... no clue who will win... but i was choosing my new car this summer and i tryed both of them... ... GLE won in almost all ways... main different is luxurious interier in GLE and SPACE... VELAR is soooo tinny car... so small so i would compare it with GLC ... GLE is much much bigger, i got 3 childern and VELAR is absolutely no able to drive with 5 passangers... GLE has plenty of space... VELAR is i piece of very beauty optic trick... on pictures look big but in reality is tinny
Ive owned both. The velar looks the part, nobody can deny it’s looks. BUT, the Mercedes is just better in every other department. Which is why I’ve just traded in my velar for another GLE. It’s also a flip of a coin with landrover as to whether you get a goodun or a Badun….my velar was a shit show. Door handle covers always falling off, CarPlay constantly failing. All kinds of mechanical faults resulting in endless trips to guy salmon (my local dealership). All in the span of three months ownership. Sat in my new GLE that I picked up today right now as I’m typing this, feeling like I’ve just managed to get rid of a ticking time bomb (my velar). I personally would never go near a Range Rover again.
LAND ROVER IS THE LAST IN THE FIABILITY LIST! TERRIBLE QUALITY CARS. MINE 7 TIMES TO THE WORKSHOP IN YEAR A HALF! ! AND THE ARE FULL OF CARS WITH PROBLEMS
The first time I saw the velar was 3 years ago and honestly I couldn't take my eyes off it, is so attractive and the design is magnificent, I like range rover sport and the evoque but this one looks incredible
My husband and I just got a 2021 velar p340s r dynamic and absolutely love it. It’s a very sporty, quick SUV that is capable for what we need. (Snow driving) However the Mercedes looks badass. Beautiful aggressive looking vehicle.
If I buy new, which I can only dream living in Serbia(only criminals and politision can buy this cars over here) I would buy Range Rover it is more stylish imo. But if you buy used one, Mercedes is better option.
Yall just want the looks but the merc is much better overall, and range rovers are unreliable besides u would rather wanna get a rr sport than a velar but the merc is still better lol
@@tramany7 have u tried the merc it has better tech it has better safety it has better performance. I think your just salty because u have an rr its ok.🤷♂️well not salty but you are just saying that "the velar blows the mercedes away" because you have one try other cars before you say there bad or your car blows it away even tho u have not tried it ,and besides the velar is not even in the league of the gle. The gle is one league above thats why its 'BETTER'
Merc is no doubt a better car in almost every respect.. but I’d still chose the Range Rover every time. Not really sure why - it just has so much more appeal. Much smarter looking compared to the fussy looking Merc and just seems to have more class about it.
@Realist 1801 i sold my 04 rrs clock 163000km not long ago , best car that i ever hd, love it n no issues at all, driven the G now.most of keyboard warrior and salty idiots never owned it , just bra bra bra👎👎
@Realist 1801 both land rover products you just mentioned is entry level the range rover velar and sport is a more better vehicle than both vehicles you hade despite the fact I hade the disco sport when it first came out ot made me buy a full size range rover 2019 and I love people In benz products look at my vehicle. Honestly if it isn't a g wagon or any type of S class benz products aren't really that good at this point your buying based off the symbol
@@occupy_mars7560 Leasing and owning are pretty much the same thing man when it comes to what people say lol. Most people want to lease these cars anyways. Who really cares what the term is, hes driving a sweet ride, thats all that matters
@@occupy_mars7560 Dude I can turn it into a car note at anytime. Just don't want to cos I was advice by the dealership the ride has a bunch of issues. Only drive it while it's under factory warranty.
@@occupy_mars7560 I will still recommend the car bro. I have the black-on-black R-Dynamic v6 version. I have girls taking pictures with the car when I stop to get gas.
You want one no matter what the price, because after you lock it, you’ll never tire of turning round for one last look before you go through the front door. - Jeremy Clarkson on the Velar
soo you telling me a 2020 GLE is 100k being compared to a 40k Velar.... and the Velar is actually competing ? seems like a obvious winner..... you can buy the velar Autobiography which is insane for 87k.....
Yeah, but neither this GLE costs a 100k, nor this Velar costs 40k. In fact this Velar is more expensive than this GLE, which you will see in the video description. Also I said something to this effect at the end of the video. The Range Rover is grossly overpriced in Europe.
Our family own RR velar, Vogue, Mercedes, and BMW..I always love the onpoint drive acceleration of BMW, the infotainment of Mercedes.. but Range Rovers are always sturdier, classy and more refined..
No doubt, LR is a car of choice for personality, identity. Off-road capabilities won't be used, but they characterize the car on every other route anyway. And by mechanical sophistication it's better value.
@@fsan5382 Ahh, my friend. Brutal. 4k the water pump went, 6.5k the fuel pump went. Pano sunroof leaked, sunshade rattled, drive door pillar was not aligned properly, so there was constant road noise, sounded as if the window was cracked open. Infotainment center went black all the time and would default to high heat, you'd be unable to adjust any functions, exhaust pipes rattled. Fuel pump went for a second time around the 14k mile mark, lost power on the highway and had to have it towed back to the dealership. Had it fixed and a few days later I traded it in for a GLE 53. Best car I've owned.
@@sperrin198787 Wow, that sounds horrible. You would expect a luxury vehicle to have little to no problems. I Appreciate your reply mate, you just convinced me to not buy one. Cheers
This is the first review I write on RU-vid, but it can't be any other way. I bought a Velar D275 black edition. After 3 months I can say that you cannot buy a better car. The Velar has a few small flaws, such as slow entertainment, opening the rear doors with the movement of the foot or pull-out handles that cause problems in the winter. However, the positives outweigh these shortcomings. Every morning when you go to your car you feel like a work of art is standing in front of you. Ladies and gentlemen, this is the most beautiful car in the world. Elegant lines, design for gentlemen. I have the classic version. Personally, I think it's nicer than Rline because of the clean lines (that's a matter of taste). When you press the button to open the door and the lights come on, you feel like you're getting into a spaceship. We don't have to talk about comfort inside at all - that's a dream. The air suspension is brilliant. The driving modes do exactly what you expect. If you go off-road with the Velar, you will find out that cars like BMW X4/5/6, Audi Q series, Mercedes GLA, GLC, GLS are only for laughs. Don't believe that there is a better sound system than Meridian - there isn't. This car has a couple of technological shortcomings, which you will not notice at all if you buy it. I personally have to state that I have fallen in love with these little things and they make this car unique and different for me. As much as you love a freckle on your wife's face, you will love these little things too. This car is different, unique and perfectly designed, I can't imagine a design that can beat this. This car has a unique character! Ladies and gentlemen this is the Velar! God, masterpiece!
Mercedes makes the best hands free tailgate... part of the reason I chose it - plus I really liked the mild hybrid EQ boosted power train, and as stated in the video, it is just about as quiet as a Rolls. That's what I want in my SUV, a luxury vehicle experience. I don't want my SUV trying to be a sports car... that's what my sports car is for. My wife preferred the Velar, but only because it was prettier. They're both gorgeous, but when you consider the fine details, build quality, materials, functionality, and dependability, the Mercedes is a class above the Velar.
Like your wife, I love the look of the Velar, but I'm finding a lot of negative reviews on it. The Mercedes has fantastic reviews and it really is a beautiful SUV. I'm torn! lol I want both! :)
It's the Mercedes that fall apart and break down.. Also b4 you pass comment think!! He's probably not used to it and also its no good just being able to open it by waving your foot.. Or a bird /rodent could open it!! Plus did he have the key? Try it and practice b4 taking a video
The Velar is a larger alternative to the Evoque and not so plush and its cheaper than other models but fits the needs of the middle RR buyer.. Careful on comparisons
Ill take the Land Rover. Mercs are no longer the status cars they use to be and honestly its like theyre no longer relevant. Tesla is the new luxury cars of choice. Just like Land Rovers are now for SUVs
I was dreaming about the velar but this changes my perspective a bit. If I'll pay almost $100 K I deserve all the goods, every detail matters. I still have to work for it. But I'll buy it. That's why I'm choosing already 🤣 I don't know. GLE? COUPE? seems cool. I like the Lamborghini Urus. I just can't find another SUV less expensive to dream with. Rolls royce cullinam has all the goods. I need more option cars to choose. Less expensive 🤣
