Nice range test. So many reviewers combine their range tests with acceleration, top speed, and hill-climbing, all in one ride.

Watching TailHappy before i got my ebike gave me a good idea what i wanted from a machine with regards to battery size, motor etc. to suit what i was going to use it for. Southern's rides are more like the trails i ride around where i live though.

LOL as I was doing testing on my Mars yesterday trying to run the battery dead. Last week it quit 3 times with the low bar on the voltmeter turned up around 44.5V. Found that turning everything off, waiting a couple minutes & back on & the eBike will make it a little further. Set the low bar at 41V & was surging a bit so lowered it to 39V & smooth again. Justin at Grin Technology claims draining Li-ion batteries doesn't hurt them but not fully charging except to balance the battery cells does more for longevity. I'm getting 20 miles a charge on 48V 12.5AH batteries throttle only on 80% (51.5V) & could push 30 out of them in a pinch maybe. Seems the biggest problem of running low voltage is then the amps increase to compensate & that generates more heat so cool the motor with a break every 15 to 30 minutes.

It's good to get real world data and not those wild manufacturer claims. i've got 50% more Ah and get around that more range than your 12Ah.

Thank you for watching Steve. I’m not worried about lowering the voltage to get any more. Remember I can go with the extra battery and have a bout a 100 mile range. My goal here was to find out what kind of mileage I would get on just a 17 amp hour. That way I can pretty much not worry about carrying the extra battery unless I’m planning on over about 40 miles. Good ride. I have a 14 ah battery that can only get 10 miles out of it with two bars left. I have some hills to get out to the main road, which takes 2 bars on fresh batteries.

That's good range. I'm getting average 30 miles on my 48v 18Ah cadence bike on a full tank of electrickery. I'm a bit overweight, but working on it. 😉

Thank you for watching. It does seem to get pretty good mileage. The torque sensor helps her mileage. Quite a bit. Keep rolling on, you can definitely use E bikes to work on losing weight. Enjoy your evening.

Even though your not a throttle user, how about a range test throttle only. Using cruise control. Might be useful if your chain breaks or your body has issues.

Thank you for watching Gary. I think probably a better video would be on how to fix a chain. I hear this all the time and honestly have never had one break and the vast majority of miles i have riden I’ve been on a Middrive. It only takes about three minutes to fix a broken chain so that would probably be a better video to do. What good would it do knowing what throttle range I could get if the chain were to break. I would not know how many miles I had already put on before that could theoretically happen, so I would have to maintain less mileage than the lowest mileage that I could get. Well, that was a mouthfull, I don’t even know if that made sense to me. Enjoy your evening, been a long Monday.

I had the exact same issue with my light to a bit to figure out, we were going on a road section and wanted a flasher so I plugged it into my portable power bank I keep fo our phones and in 10 minutes it was fully charged and working. I did order a new light Butt I didn’t throw out the light I thought was dead!
