Hey Jacob, love your vids!! I’m about to do the same to my raptor, but unsure about how to angle the intake, noise wise... I love the noise but is it annoying when sitting on the freeway or any other time? I’m thinking about angling it over the roof a bit but I still want to hear it lol.. thoughts??
Brian it’s just one of those things when working on a car.... you’re going to have to make holes eventually. It’s just easier for me because I do it on the daily with brand new cars of the show room floor
Hi! nice video, I watch all your videos about Ford ranger Raptor because I woud like to buy one. I'm from Italy and I woud ask you if you could make a video about how replace rotors brakes and pads. Thank you.
Bon Vincent Agbisit it was installed before I went too Cape York through the Old Telegraph track that has some deep river crossings like Nolan’s or Cockatoo. Unfortunately our trip never got that far because my mates car broke down 2min south of Cooktown
Grimm i personally like the Jmax and the platinum mechanical snorkels but then again I’m not too sure if there are many other companies doing snorkels for the raptors yet
does the raptor ORIGINAL airbox is ready for snorkel or do you have to sort out aftermarket/customize airbox? and what bolt is best suited for the Support pillar of the snorkel the one you have to drill in the pillar side? RIVET or the screw that comes with the snorkel? got a snorkel installed on my Triton and we used the screws that comes with it for the pillar BUT after a year it got loose and was so damn LOUD when my triton is on idle that i have to return it to the shop and they used a Rivet this time. My concern is what happens if that occurs again this time what should i do?
Gareth Walker sometimes if you want things done you gotta do it yourself. Especially to save money. But I’ve been working on cars and rebuilding engines since I was 13 and have been in the industry for the past 10years
@@jacobsgarage5458 hahaha ive been working on them for atleast 10 years but still not really keen on chopping into one of those fenders, one of those oem fenders here in the uk is £1200. how you liking the truck? i got a 2014 lux in latin america and looking at a raptor once lockdown ends here in the uk
Gareth Walker I’m not overly fussed about chopping into cars sometimes it has to be done. I love my Ute mate I was planning on only having it until the Jeep gladiator comes out but now I don’t think I can live without it, it’s soo good even my dad is getting one, literally picks it up tomorrow
@@jacobsgarage5458 awesome, well hopefully once this covid thing is over ill take one for a drive the mrs is sold on it so thats good hahaha. my mate used to have a gen 1 f150 raptor, but it was still a harsh ride and the triton 5.4 was crap
Now that you replaced the air box, it is possible to change the size of that reservoir behind it something smaller and then move the airbox farther back, then install a second battery, or will there still not be enough room?
Great job mate but no way would I have the guts to drill into the guard like that let alone cut a hole like that in it. Just one thing I would like to have cleared up about snorkels. I have heard that some snorkels can rob a car (4WD) of power at high speed because the snorkel is facing backwards can create a vacuum while driving at high speed (Highway Etc) and starve the engine of air and that's why some have a head on them facing forwards to scoop up air at high speed. Is there any truth in that. Looking at how this one is setup on the Raptor I thought it would create a vacuum at high speed and starve the engine of air.
Robert Garland the amount of speed you would need to be driving at to show any noticeable difference in power loss i.e more that 1hp loss you would need to be at a speed that raptors can’t even reach. The free airflow way outways the possible loss from a negative pressure situation. I prefer rear facing snorkels because they suck up less dust, bugs and water and also allow branches to glance off instead of getting caught and breaking the snorkel
Jemuel fishing no platinum just brought out a version where you can use your factory air box but it just needs to be modified to make it water proof and accept a different inlet poin
Pasindu Lakshan if water gets high enough to get in the snorkel I’m pretty sure you have bigger problems on your hands. Like can I swim, are the crocs in this water?
Great video Jacob and thanks for creating the channel. Noticed that you have changed the brackets used for the light bar from the original video. What was the reason and are they a Rhino bracket?
REO Group Sydney I didn’t like how far the light bar sat out front of the roof rack. It was better for glare but the position it is now is better for wind noise and appearance
@@jacobsgarage5458 Yes, I knew that it was made of a special compound. But in the case of any unforseen damage. Would it be fixable, or a matter of expensive replacement? Also shock replacement might become an expensive issue.
henri wolbrink well I’ve already hit a tree on the passenger side and the plastics fared worse then the fender, if it was made out of steel it would have looked like a crushed can but it looks perfect besides a few scuff marks that I buffed out, looks like it never happened, plus I’ve always found fibreglass a lot easier to repair then steel.
