I haven’t posted a vid in a long time...too many home projects right now. I want to do an update on the Ranger and get get back to work on my Mustang. Good luck with your projects!
I'm gonna do a carb setup 351w and hei distributor with front and back swaybars and wilood brakes Monroe suspension in the back and skyjacker shocks in the front edelbrock stickers etc.
I too used the v8 ranger swap group for mine and for my steering shaft I used an xj cherokee shaft to get rid of the rag joint and free up a little more room. I also am using a 92 f150 351w
The 351has a deck height of .900 higher than the 302 and it fits better than the 351,that deck height becomes a problem also your motor mounts have to be sitting very low
Gosh, I don't remember for sure. I'd have to look at the truck. If I remember right, they are oriented up and down? I want to say we used the highest one to get clearance for the oil pan. The next time I'm home and remember, I will take a look.
i have the same exact truck color in all. did yall use the stock transmission or get a new one i was thinking of engine swapping mine with a ls2 but im a bit of a newbie i still know things but this will be my first engine swap.
Not sure about parts for making the ls2 swap easier. Not sure if Rickz Rangerz has mounts made up for that swap. Maybe check our the Ranger V8 Swap Facebook page. We found some useful info on there.
They didn’t work with the heads. I think the Explorer heads are GT40P heads and the plugs don’t angle as much. The plugs/spark plug boots angled right into the exhaust manifold on a couple of cylinders. The headers provided better clearance to the spark plugs. Plus, the long tube headers did make it nicer for mating up the exhaust.
@@puzzlefox5.076 that makes a lot of sense I was asking because I wanna 5.0 swap my ranger with the explorer motor I have a 91 and wanna get everything that works thanks for the feedback!
I just bought a 92 that was 302 swapped and it used to be 4wheel but was swapped with some big 5spd. How would I go about making an exhaust for as cheap as possible that doesnt sound like shit?
Hey, Jerry. Sorry for taking a couple days to respond. There is quite a bit to know. Just like anything else, it takes some time, patience, and trial and error. And, of course, there is more than one way to do things. I'm sure not everyone will do things the same way that we did. Is there any specific advice you are looking for?
No I forgot the brand I think they are Scott Drake or something like that. But they are 65 through 70 Mustang Tri-Y long tubes. They were pretty reasonably priced.
@@puzzlefox5.076 thanks,I've got a 2000, ranger, 302, carbureted, donor motor and t5, are from an 84 ft. Ran shorty headers for a while, minimal mods, really just a steering rod mod. Would be nice to run a full length, just trying to research which brand or style would be the most installer friendly,if there is such a thing. Lol, have a great day. Any responses are welcome. Thanks
What size header you go with? 1 inch primaries or 1.5 primaries? Also which oil filter relocator did ya go with? Scott Drake facility is down the street from me, see if I can stop by
I want to say they are 1.5 primaries. 1 inch seems small. I don't remember the brand of the filter relocator...but I think we ordered it off of Summit....or maybe Amazon.
Why didn't you just pound the headers to fit, or is there that big of gap difference? Exhaust doesn't care which way it goes whether it's round or oblong...your not changing the internal volume
Just the tactic we took. There was a lot of material there in the frame and we thought that was a better choice. I don't remember now how much clearance we needed.
