1) Rankin of Orchardhead, Scotland - Walter Ranken of Orchardhead (c. 1635-1691) - Gules three boars’ heads erased argent between a lance issuing out of the dexter base, and a Lochaber axe issuing out of the sinister, both erect of the second. Crest-A lance argent. Motto-Fortiter et vecte.

2) Rankin of Perth, Scotland - Alexander Rankine of Perth (d. 1679), son of Alexander Ranken of Perth (d. 1698), baillie, son of Alexander Ranken of Perth (d. 1678), son of James Ranken of Kinross (d. 1667), son of Andrew Renkyn of Kinross (d. 1616) - Argent three boars’ heads couped between as many battle axes gules and in the centre a quatrefoil vert. Crest-A ship proper. Motto-Providentiâ et virtute.
3) Robert Ranken, Keeper of Lyon Records, appointed in 1773 - Gules three boars’ heads erased or, armed and langued argent on a chief of the third a chevron sable between three mullets of the first. Crest-The sun issuing from behind a cloud proper. Motto-Virtus prevalent.
4) Henry Rankine, merchant of Rochelle and Edinburgh (fl. 1679), said to descend from the Raneks of Sheill, co. Ayrshire, of whom Peter Ranken (fl. 1508) was the progenitor, and had son William Ranen of Sheill who had son Lawrence Ranken of Sheill - Argent a Lochaber axe erected in pale between three boars' heads couped Gules.
5) James Lancaster Ranking (1818-1897), surgeon general in Madras, son of Robert Ranking (1784-1867) - Party per pale indented Gules and Argent three boars' heads erased between two flaunches that on the dexter charged with a tilting spear and that on the sinister with a pole-axe all counter changed.
6) James Rankin Esq. of Bryngwyn, co. Herefordshire, J.P. and D.L., High Sheriff in 1873, Chief Steward of the city of Hereford, and Member of Parliament, created a baronet in 1898, only son of Robert Rankin Esq., of Bromborough Hall, Cheshire (1801-1870), timber merchant and shipowner, son of James Rankin and brother of Alexander Rankin (1788-1852), Scottish merchant - Or, a cinquefoil gules between in chief a hatchet between two boars’ heads erased, and in base a boar’s head erased between two hatchets all sable. Crest-In front of a cubit arm proper holding a hatchet sable and charged with a cinquefoil gules a boar’s head erased of the second. Motto-Prudentia et virtute.
7) William MacBean Rankine of Dudhope, Scotland (1848-1879) - Or a Lochaber axe fessways Sable between two boars' heads couped Gules. Crest - A dexter hand proper holding a spur or, the strap also proper. Motto - Forget not.
