@@forggstans I have a question. Do you think Karina would still be a main dancer if she was in a different group? I think she’s doing great, and I love her energy/presence but I feel like she isn’t the kind of dancer who would be a main dancer if she was in a group with dancers like Chaeyon, Chaeryoung, Eunbi, Lisa or Momo, yk what I mean? No hate though! I love her and I’m not a professional dancer or anything hahaha.
I feel like Ningning is the same with Jennie (from Blackpink), she's more of a performer than a dancer. Her facial expressions never falter, she has musicality, and her vocals.... my gosh her vocals!
You know what is funny? People were bringing seulgi down, saying she wasn’t a good main dancer comparing her to momo and Lisa. Now with Karina, people are using Yeji and seulgi to bring her down. Honestly, like kpop stans can’t be satisfied. Aespa seems to be a balanced group, which is rare these days.
Yep aespa is actually a well balanced group. They're not the best at dancing but their vocals make up for it. Also I see much more examples of kpop groups improving in dance (TWICE, RedVelvet, Exo, Some members of bts) than improving vocals. Idk why tho, maybe because vocals are harder to train?
I really found Karina's technique as similar to SinB. Clean, not flashy. She blends and does not really stands out in dance when looking at it as a group but when you focus, oh damn she's good.
All SM main dancers doesn't outshine their members when dancing as a group. Seulgi,Hyoyeon, Victoria all have beat awareness and matches their energy with the rest if the members. This proves that SM also have one of the best dancers.
Karina's dancing is very clean and pleasant to the eye, SM tends to push these kinds of dancers because they make formations look really good (Yoona, Seulgi)
@@forggstans Deeeeefintely recommend reaching out to 2nd gen & 3rd gen reaction channels and youtubers for that one!👍🏽 Idk about 1st gen but they should be able to help
@@claireclaire7986 i dont think they can make a vid abt that without people bashing at each other because their fav dancer isnt on there if yk what i mean
@@onion9486 yes all of em have potential. I am karina biased and I can tell all of the girls have amazing personality, talents and skills. I wouldn't be surprised if anyone of them r gonna be the 4th gen it girl of Korea :)
@@onion9486 Hmm, 'IT girl' kinda means like an allrounder female idol- Visuals, Vocals, Dance, Rap etc. Technically means like the more talent and skills you have, the more of an allrounder u r thus 'it girl'. I hope I explained it well >_
karina is obviously the best dancer (and i am a dancer myself) plus she is the group's main dancer so it's given. at least acknowledge her skills for once. i'm kind of tired seeing comments that refuse to acknowledge her. she's the BEST DANCER in their group and no opinion can change that. PERIODT. at least give the girl the recognition that she deserves. yall think sm would play around and give her the main dancer position without her being good enough?
I agree with this!!! No one ever talks about Karina’s dancing even though she’s the main dancer! Like at least acknowledge her please? So many people are discrediting her skills! :’(
Something that I like about her dancing is that she is developing to be a dancer with precise and sharp lines. Same with Karina who can develop sharp line because of her amazing angles.
@@blessmeachoo3639 Its funny because those haters would not evem be able to do half as good as she did. People ought to stop bashing when they cant do half the sh*t idols do
ikr 😭 she's like always smiling?? idk if that's just how her face rests but it's so funny and cute. she'd probably be such a great friend/ someone to be around.
Karina not going as low could be to do with her height! In ballet you're taught to not go as low as others when you're taller because it can look comical in an outside perspective. Good analysis though!
😯 someone also said that Karina might have a ballet or contemporary dance background, because the way she moves at the beginning of the song look a bit different to how a person who has a hip hop base would.
oh don’t worry, not going as low isn’t a technical issue. It’s pretty much optional, dancers add their style to the dances, they don’t need to be executing everything in the same way as the others.
Solo stans need to watch this, I'm just so mad that they are starting to disregard Karina as the main dancer, the position given by the company because she is that worthy.
Aespa is so far the only rookie of the big 3 that has a vocal line that can compete with 3rd gen and with such an amazing dance line, I really do think they will dominate
Hey, I wanted kindly ask if you could do this style of video with the japanese JYP girlgroup 'NiziU', I know is kinda weird ask this, I mean, it is jpop, but I think the girls have great dance potential and I wanted to see what you think about them if isn't ask too much
all the members are really talented one by one, they have no joke. But I just want to add a little info about Giselle: she has the shortest trainee time among the members, having trained only for 10 months. And she’s already the main rapper and the third one in dancing and I think she’s dancing is really good. She has a big potential
although she was signed in sm for only ten months prior to debut, before that she trained independently! idk how long tho but yeah she's really talented
My prediction: Aespa going to be one of 4th gen group that full with powerhouse dancer, powerful singer and probably powerhouse rapper too in the future.
I agree with vocals and maybe rappers but about dancing they are average for a rookie group. Anyway is understandable because they are more a vocal group and damn their vocals are on fire
I agree in vocals, but not in rap, idk about the dance but im sure they are above average in terms of dancing, or probably enter in the top 3 best dance group too
Their dancing is average and tbh SM's girlgroups are never strong in dancing (they have very good invidual but not so much as a whole group). As far as I know, Ningning vocal isn't as good as Wendy or Taeyeon, maybe as the same level as Lia from ITZY but let's see more in the future
ningning and giselle could be a lead dancer in other groups. their first choreography (black mamba) is difficult. you should really be flexible and more controls to your body. aespa will be one of the 4th gen groups who will dominate this generation. aespa, fighting!
I can definitely see what you mean! But in the end, you can only cover up so much with energy. Practicing your basics and making sure your fundamentals are really good is going to make a difference in the end! :)
@@anna-mooncrutzen3427 ning ning have powerful energy but giselle is more flexible the way she wave her body is what a dancer needs to have but ning ning did a great job its just that giselle is more dancer than her (ps [skl] im a dancer since 5 yrs old that's why I know these things HAHAHA)
Yeah I tend to agree, though I think Giselle did much better here than in the existing stages. Like the op said, they are such different dancers. Overall, I prefer ningning, but if we're just going off this dance practice, I think choosing Giselle 3rd is very reasonable. There is still rather limited footage to work still right now, so I don't think anyone can make surefire claims.
Don't forget Giselle has amazing stage presence imo. Her expressions and also Ningnings are very attractive, Giselle smiles when she dances which I think is a +
I agree with you but i just wanted to point out that Giselle has been a trainee for less than a year!! So i *know* she is going to improve and i'm really looking forward to it!
Ningning reminds me a lot of Joy bc she's not the best dancer in the group but she has some of the best stage presence in my opinion. I watched fancams of all the members several times and there's something about Ningning's facial expressions and confidence that stands out. I find her fancams the most interesting to watch. Also an odd thing I've noticed about that drop move in the chorus that's like the Itzy move, here in the dance practice everyone moves their head with it. They all do like a hair flip as they move but in performances Karina and Winter don't really do it. I wonder if that's a purposeful change and if so what the reason is for it. I think the move looks cooler with a hair flip.
Yeah for the hair flip I also was surprised that they don’t do it in performances, but I read some comments saying that maybe because of the hairstyle?? Idk but I wish they would do it more often
Its because of the hair style that is why you can't see them doing that hair flip. But if you watch their dance practice you can see that Karina and Winter is doing that because their hair is tied up.
@@ajreyes1262 I'm not sure if you're a troll or maybe just a Joy anti but she actually has excellent stage presence! She's very expressive and charismatic. She's able to change her expressions to fit many different styles from cute to sexy to elegant. It makes her a very engaging performer. Go check out some of her fancams if you'd like!
One thing that I would want to point since I watched their fancams etc. They all are good dancer. But, what's making Karina centre/main dancer is the details in her dancing. She never miss a simple head moves, like other members tend to miss it, probably bcoz it's such a small gesture. It's same thing with Kai. Love shot dance especially. Kai did all moves without miss. It's the details in dancing. I really love that from main dancer.
honestly I’m so done with all these new groups that are dancing focused, it’s nice how aespa seems to have a balance between vocals, rap and dancing. It does feel like the song is the main focus and the dancing enhances it, not the other way around
I think sm is gonna pay a lot of attention to Karina and Winter. Being the aces of the group a lot of companies do that. Like jyp is with yeji and nayeon or yg with Jennie and Lisa.
Karina every moves were on point... as a dancer she is very good.. she has powerfull moves and she suits dance too.... her every move was detailed carefully.... she did really fast and her move was on point too.... her control for her legs and arms are the best..... it looked detailed.... its true that she didn't lower her body than winter cause her height doesn't allow that much.... it would look bad. Her control is amaizing.... its pretty clear that she is main dancer...... She deserve that too..
I joined the Aespa fandom one week ago. I really thought that Ningning was the MAIN dancer, for her dancing skills, stage presence and also facial expressions. But then, I found out that it was actually Karina. But, Ningning is my bias :)
Ningning is my Bias, in my opinion she has the best facial expressions and stage presence. Her voice is just INCREDIBLE! She can still improve a lot! All the girls are SUPER talented! Remember they are still Rookies! Don't compare then with more experienced idols.
If we will talk about being the ACE member, it's definitely Karina. She's #1 in Dancing She's #2 in Rapping She's #3 in Singing She got all the skills plus her visuals which is undoubtedly SO GREAT. Plus, her stage presence is so overwhelming like she really deserves the center title because her charisma is flowing. She knows how to project in camera. Future IT Girl of 4th gen af. Some of y'all just hate her from the beginning that's why you can't accept it.
I trust SM putting Winter as lead vocalist after Ningning, they know what they're doing and not us but I prefer to wait to hear Karina singing first (she barely sang on black mamba)
@aespavelvet Yes. Based on their melOn profiles and that korean site which I forgot, they even updated it and listed Karina as lead vocalist. Being in a choir doesn't necessarily mean you're really a good singer and I think that's the main reason why Giselle became the main rapper.
@@seulgientertainment5752 what did melon profile say? Karina as vocalist and that's it? I thought karina official position was sub-vocalist? Certainly SM is treating her as sub-vocalist on BM at least
I didn’t know the positions in Aespa but from the dance practice, I knew Karina was the best and a stand out. She gives me a cool Yeji vibe and I like it.
If Karina trains so hard like Seulgi unnie does, she will be a top level dancer in Gen 4. She has a good body shape and really beautiful dancing in her pocket now.
Yeah I think as rookies, there is still a lot of variation in their performance. And so far, we only have 3 stages total they have done which isn't a lot of footage to work with. I think we'll have better evaluations once we see them a lot more.
This is kinda long, so bear with me :) I think in terms of dancing, they're the perfect example of an SM group, but 4th gen-ized? The standards of 4th gen groups in dance is rising and rising, but this dancing is what I would expect from an SM group; clean, concise, perfect example of a lead dancer, and a main dancer who has their own flavors in movements. If a JYP group danced like this, tbh I would expect more, but since its SM (whose main specialty isnt dance) they're perfect. 1) Ningning - ngl she really blew me away with her charisma and torso control like you said. If I compare her to Wendy (also a main vocal), I feel like they're at the same level, but she performs to 4th gen standards. If I compare her to other gg main vocalists of her generation: Izone, Itzy - I think she performs slightly better then Lia and is at par or slightly above Yuri. She's a great idol dancer. 2) Giselle - I was kind of disappointed by Giselle's dancing at first - since she's not the worst dancer, I expected her to have an extra oomph like ningning, but I love what you pointed out - she's a completely open dancer who under dances occasionally and doesn't hide it. Again, she performs better than Joy and Yeri (the 4th gen effect), but isn't really at par with Yuna. So I really hope to see more improvement, especially in facials. 3) Winter - Winter was a great surprise! Her technique is quite easy on the eyes and I enjoyed watching her dance. She's exactly what I expected from a SM 4th gen lead dancer - SM style movements, clean, crisp, and her facials are nice too. She seems at par with Irene, and with Ryujin as well. I'd love to see more of her flavour in dancing. But she is a little short when compared to Yena and Chaewon. 4) Karina! - Karina is such a great dancer and always extends every movement wonderfully. Again, she's a great example of an SM Main dancer, but I feel like the 4th gen effect was least in her, and I also feel like this choreo limited her in some ways. I'd like to see her do more solo dances where she can just unleash. I'm sure she will be equal with Chaeryeong and Yeji as time goes on, and Eunbi too. If you read this, thank you so much!!! Please comment something wacky in response to this comment. Stay safe!
tbh the 'since its SM' thing only applies to groups like Suju, EXO and RV Their main/lead dancers are excellent but not every member is a dancer, but all their other groups are vocals+dance based (especially SHINee, F(x), NCT, SNSD)
also this is more impactfull when you realize that aespa is more like a vocal group than a dance group like all the 4th gen groups but all of them are dance material, so aespa 4th gen ace
Thank you for this video because frankly, I didn't see why Karina was main dancer above Winter now I understand. I am just waiting to see more from them.
Absolutely love your videos! As a professional dancer myself it's nice seeing other dancer's opinion on this. Often fans don't have actual experience with dancing and just go with popularity so most videos on youtube are often very biased. Keep up the good work :D
Karina is by far the best dancer in aespa. She has the most attention to detail and the cleanest to execute. Though I think there's a lot of room for improvement specially in fluidity and energy. YES she's the main dancer in aespa but not on par with the other kpop main dancers. + WE'RE SPOILED BY ITZY😫😭 THEY LITERALLY HAVE 4 MAIN DANCER MATERIAL
When I saw Ningning ranked as the 4th one I was thinking that how powerful Aespa's dance generally is cause Ningning with such amazing dance moves is 4th in this choreo. It shows that generally Aespa is an amazing group at dancing and there's no bad/weak dancer in this group.
they aren't controlled properly. You can see Karina is the best one, but there are still times she loses control. The best way to dance is to put your entire balance in the point of your feet, just like the blonde backup dancer in the right
@@forggstans Yeah I can see the difference. And I understand why it's not what it was meant to be after seeing the back-up dancers. But idk...I wouldn't call Karina's footwork bad....maybe mediocre.
@So What but then again they are rookies. She was obv given the title bcs she’s ultimately the best in the group. Ofc improvements can be made OVER TIME, y’all have don’t have to point the minimalist things. Bet if u didn’t watch dis video u wouldn’t have even noticed small things like that. But then again ur opinions ig
@@forggstans that part always looked awkward to me but I didn't know why hahaa. Now that you pointed it out and explained it, I know how it's supposed to look like. And is it kinda weird that all the girls did it wrong yet no one corrected them?
i think some problems come from their long limbs since it’s harder to control (giselle and karina) and i think karina’s foundation in dancing is ballet (like how she moves her arms and legs and point her feet) i could be wrong but it looks like it since hiphop definitely is not her strength
Exactly! Karina’s mistaken for being “stiff” I think its because of her body proportion and like what u said, ling limbs since she’s so tall esp side by side the other members who are short in comparison
@@thatgirlnamedfangirl2143 right usually dancers with a ballet background tend to look stiff when dancing to other styles since ballet is a different discipline
yes, I agree. I'm a dancer but not hiphop based however I can too. Winter is more of a hiphop based, However, Karina's moves and technique are greater and cleaner because ballet teaches discipline in dancing - that is pointed feet, good posture, and even the inclusion of head if necessary. That's why Karina has that extended limbs look.
4th gen girlgroups from the Big 3 are really something 😮 And I also noticed that: • Itzy - more focused on dancing, but that doesn't mean they're bad singers • Aespa - more focused on vocals, but that doesn't mean they're bad dancers STAN THESE GG FOR CLEAR SKIN!! AETZY FOR THE WIN!
idk i might be biased (but i really think im not) but when it comes to dancing, itzy is better but not that far ahead but when it come to singing, itzy cant stand close to aespa
@@pessimisticcatto1121 nah, itzy dance line is way more better than aespa's dance. technically, the dance ranking will be- 1) chaeryeong 2) yeji 3) ryujin 4) Yuna 5) Karina 6) winter 7) ningning 8) Lia 9) Giselle in vocals the ranking will be- 1) ningning 2) winter 3) Karina 4) Lia 5) Giselle 6) yeji 7) chaeryeong 8) Yuna 9) ryujin in rap the ranking will be - 1) Giselle 2) ryujin 3) Karina 4) Yuna 5) the rest stage presence- 1) yeji, ryujin, Yuna 2) the rest lol
I thought NingNing was a better dancer than Giselle but your explanations were fair enough. I’m happy with their overall dancing skills, there is no weak member. Even if NingNing is the worst of the group she is an average idol dancer and definitely has so much potential to improve. Winter is a good lead dancer! And Karina isn’t the best main dancer but definitely has room to improve.
This may sound biased but I honestly like the way Giselle dances. The energy in her dance moves may not be as big as Karina or NingNing but I like the vibe of it. I also like how as explained in the video that she doesn’t exactly try to hide what she has trouble on. It’s very authentic and it keeps me looking forward to her fancams because I can see constant improvement. Personally my second favorite dancer in Aespa next to Karina.
omg same! and when i see your pp, then i understand, because baekhyun is my ult bias too. i have this kind of feeling when watching Baek fancam in 2012 and Giselle when she debuted.
This is how i would rank them too. The first time I saw them perform, I already noticed Ningning as one of the least skilled dancer in the group and Karina being the main dancer (note that i didnt have an idea about their positions). Ningning has good stage presence (every member does) but her shortcomings are more noticeable to me than Giselle. Giselle either has a way of blending in with the rest despite her flaws, or it's her strengths that covered up her flaws. But yeah, they're rookies so they have more room to grow
After a year, I can see that Ningning is definitely not last in dancing. We've seen them dance Black Mamba, Next Level, Savage and Dreams Come True. I'd say Karina is number 1, her footwork is her strength but she can be stiff at times. Winter is definitely 2nd, Ningning is surprisingly good and has a great amount of energy when dancing so she's 3rd. For Giselle, I understand that she trained the shortest so it's understandable that she's lacking in dance. She always move slower than the others, it's noticeable since they're only four and it seems like she's doing some part of the choreo different the the others. Right now, I can't say aespa is synchronize when they dance together. They need to work on that but overall aespa have decent dancers. They're not bad like some people says.
ikr. like once a toxic midzy said that if theyre just good singers then they shouldve just became a soloist like IU and i was like(????) gurl they literally make off money with their voices. u cant buy their choreos dafq
I see that i don't understand anything about dancing when i genuinely thought Ningning was the 2nd best dancer, and she's last lol... Idk why but watching Ningning's and winter's fancams Ningning just seemed better for me
I guess I'm way too biased 😂 I was pretty sure that Ningning was 2nd or 3rd (even though, in this dance practice, she's 1rst in my heart ❤ haha ) but we all know that Karina's the best!
I also thought Ningning is at least 2nd. Because she was the one who stood out the most for me, she could cought my eyes. She is definitely the best performer and the best in facial expressions.
I personally feel like Giselle is a bit stiffer than NingNing lol. Just as you said, they have different dance styles, but I feel like Ning Ning compensates it with power. I also think Ning Ning is more flexible. But they are both really good and I love them sm
Just saw Karina's dance in Knowing Bros. I was shocked to see how fluid, precise and sharp she is. Now i'm uncertain whether she was just given a bad choreography before (her dance teaser) or she has actually improved!
This is my exact ranking, and I'm glad an actual dancer agrees with it since I'm not one and just go with what I see and whatever little knowledge I posses about dancing. Great video as always!!!
I'm glad you did this ranking for aespa! Of course being a rookie group, they still have a lot to prove and to go , but your analysis is on point and is insteresting.
I've learned a lot by reading your comments. I went straight to your other videos especially the ITZY ones. For your future project might I suggest analysing Secret Number's Got That Boom routine? They just released their dance practice video a couple of days ago and there are plenty of fancams from music show performances. Secret Number's fans devour everything and I'm sure they will really appreciate a professional's opinion on the choreo. I'd love to see the individual dancer rankings also like you did with ITZY and BP. Thanks for reading 🙏🏼
I agree with you. Also it amazes me how none of the members don’t lack when performing/dancing. Like in other groups you can see who isn’t a dancer or just isn’t as good at dancing as other members (I don’t mean it in a mean way) but with AESPA Karina looks like the main dancer (which she is), Winter looks like the lead dancer (which she is), and Giselle and Ningning give you lead dancer vibes which I think is great. They’ll definitely get better in no time.
I feel like the requirements to debut in KPOP has become increasingly more and more difficult, I feel like people forget in the beginning as rookies you don't have to be perfect at everything, they will learn as time goes on. As of now, I love the dance and song, can't wait to see more of them.
I would love to see a Basics of Dance video, where you go over all of the things you look at for these rankings. Also I'd love to watch Ranking Saturday as Dancers. These are just suggestions and thanks for always making cool content 💖💎
imo Karina isnt just the main dancer but she's also the best performer among them. In my opinion she's the true ace and deserves to be face of the group
Top main dancers of the fourth generation in my opinion: Chaeyeon (IZ*ONE) Chaeryeong (ITZY) jyp give her a dance break Yeji (ITZY) Yves (Loona) Karina (æspa)
Another important thing to take into account is that they are dancing as a group. SM seems to focus on having the dancers blend in with others instead of standing out and showing off their skill. So to see what they can do I think we will need to wait until we get individual dance videos
This is super interesting to watch!! I can't wait to see how they grow and this will be continuously a very interesting video to come back to in the future :)
I don't care if they are not the best dancers for 4th gen gg. They are singers so they should excels in singing area. And aespa is excellents in that area. They have good balance between singing and dancing. So I guees they are good. Streams black mamba
