The first time you see Bowser lying on the ground and you try throwing Cappy at him... Truly a moment I'll never forget.

Fun fact: The Snow Kingdom Cheep Cheep has one special ability: It survives in ice water. If you modify the game to get normal Cheep Cheeps into ice water, they just die.

One of my absolute favorite parts of the Bowser and Pokio is their ability to stall mid-air by shaking the controller. I'm surprised you didn't go into it, but that little bit of mid-air movement is really key to these captures feeling good, at least in my opinion. It feels so fluid to use the Pokio because of this stall, in my opinion.

Am I the only one who likes that goombas have a unique hat in every kingdom?

You know, now that I think about it, the charging chuck would make a great base moveset for a 3d Wario game.

I think my favourite thing about the Pokio is the secret spin move from shaking the controller because the game doesn't even tell you about it.

Fun fact, Chain Chomps slowly move forward in 1.0.0 of super Mario Odyssey which means you can play Cascade as a chain chomp

For me I would have placed the letters slightly higher, because there’s a glitch with it that lets you get 99999 jumps in the jump rope minigame without even touching your controller

I’m so happy to see the Pokio at the top. It’s my personal favorite as well - climbing walls is really fun, and poking enemies to death is really damn satisfying.

Reminder: since sherm is based on the m4 sherman tank, which is named after General sherman famous for burning atlanta during the Civil War. We can say that sherm is the only mario character to be in WWII and the civil war

Reminder that Bowser was originally going to capture Peach, therefore becoming Koopeach (as the artbook calls it). And we ALL know what happened six days after that Nintendo Direct on September 13th, 2018. But I mean... It's pretty tame compared to what the Sonic community has done-

You just know that the devs have more ideas for Mario, Cappy and the captures, which is why I'm so curious about a potential sequel

great list! disagree on a few points (i dont really like the pokio that much, i find it too hard to control) but love the way you present this. my favorite capture is probably the trex, just bc getting to run thru blocks without a care in the world is absolutely incredible. gushen and uproot have great movement and great puzzles but at the end of the day i just wanna be a big dino and destroy everything. plus dino skip is fun as hell

Why did odyssey central choose the bowser statue as the 48th moon? Let’s take a deeper dive. While odyssey ranked the captures he came across the bowser statue, and put it at 48, and uses a video to explain why. The video displays cool bowser dancing to electrodrome, a popular song from mario kart 8. This brings me to believe that there are only two options why he chose the bowser statue at 48, either he was comparing the bowser statue to cool bowser or he was describing it as cool by showing a cool bowser as a symbol of the bowser statues coolness. I lean towards odyssey thinking the bowser statue is cool and I think he used cool bowser on a more symbolic level. In order to understand why we need to take a deeper dive. In order to understand why I believe he finds the bowser statue cool rather than it being a reminder of cool bowser, we need to look at the cool bowser video. In the video, we see a kid playing with a bowser plush, referring to it as “cool bowser” and then proceeding to make cool bowser dance. This is significant since it shows how lacking cool bowser truly is. It is a great video, but I doubt odyssey finds it great to the point he wants to put a bowser related object in front of a rock and a taxi, two of the previous captures which odyssey ranked lower. Odyssey must have thought the bowser statue is cool, since thats what the bowser statue stands for. Since he thought it was cool, he used a video of cool bowser to symbolize how cool the bowser statue is. For all the reasons listed above, I must conclude that odyssey chose to put the bowser statue at 48 because he thought it was cool, not because it was cool bowser related.

OMG I literally just re bought Super Mario Odyssey today after I had to sell it along with all my other switch games and my switch a year ago due to needing money because of financial hardships. Anyway I was just about to play it again but I'm gonna watch this video first to get me extra hyped. Thanks man you are a lifesaver

I always loved Bowser so controlling him in a mainline game was great and I think there should be a game where Bowser isn’t the villain and this type of gameplay is fleshed out

As an parabones fan it makes me SO sad it is used such an little amount in the final game and seeing team paragoomba be able to roam freely around cap and take a point for the team I was looking everywhere after finishing the dark side hoping I could use parabones somewhere like darker but at least I found the bowser's kingdom parabones moon and finally I was somewhat pleased

The first time i captured Bowser i freaked out for the last section of the game then an extra 10 minutes. Never thought i would ever be able to play as Bowser(aside from smash).

the only placement i disagree with is the letters because you didnt consider the letter glitch (which when you do the letters are some of the funnest captures in the game) but honestly i get why you wouldnt judge it based off of a glitch lol
