Ranking All Specimens in Spooky’s Jump Scare Mansion! 

Guys, please stop commenting "sPeCiMeN 7 wAs NoT iNsPiReD bY tHe WaLl oF fLeSh". I am fully aware of this and even knew it when making this video, but included it anyway because a lot of people associate Specimen 7 with the wall of flesh. This is a 30-minute video. There's plenty more to comment about besides THAT. 😂 Also, for the last time...MY VOICE IS NOT AI. It is my real voice. I was reading from a script that I wrote, so that's probably why my voice kinda sounds "robotic" in a way...but c'mon. Is that THAT hard to tell? Without scripts, I tend to stumble a lot...so I wanted to make sure this video was as professional as possible.

Specimen 5 is the one I'm most scared of. Idk why, but the imagery and distortion just triggers my anxiety. The description of "Proved extremely effective against subjects with mental issues or weak wills" is pretty fitting in my opinion as I unfortunately have a lot of anxiety and trauma related issues that for some reason this one in particular seems to trigger. I'm not scared of the walking manakin looking thing itself, but when the walls start distorting and just randomly flashing different colours- I mentally can't take it.

I didn't know Speciman 4 was inspired by Sachiko. Besides being a ghost child in a school building, that's where the similarities end

Deer lord being effective toward violent subjects implies that he's pursuing you *because* you seem violent. You wield an axe, which is threatening. It's inevitable, but that's the implications I get. I like that part of the catdos actually.

Some people fail to notice how Specimen 10's theme has some leitmotifs of other specimens, more noticably that of Ringu's theme, you can hear it ever so slightly in the background. No idea what that implies, but it's pretty cool.

i personally think Specimen 6 is the best either, definitly the most hard, different and dinamic chase in the OG version, its a shame that the Specimen 11, Specimen 4 and Specimen 8 doesn't have a very special chase or a mechanic that makes more hard the game cause their designs and concepts are awesome (Specimen 8's chase in HD version is my favorite tho)

Okay, hope you do the HD Renovation version of this list soon, because let's face it, they got some AMAZING glow-ups, especially in recent years with changes to Specimens 8 and 13 that make them a bit scarier, and especially with Specimen 8. Specimen 8 has uncontroversially the BEST design of any original specimen from a visual standpoint, but it originally had a pretty lame mechanic. It was just the Ringu chase, but slower. However, in a recent update, if the player is behind a wall as the Deer Lord is chasing them, it opens a portal to its own realm, then uses it to travel through the wall at EXTREME speed. Now it becomes a similar case to the Parasite, where you have to remain close to it so that it doesn't get you.

For your top 3 they all have some trait that makes them special, The danger and design of specimen 8, The atmosphere of specimen 11 and the uniqueness and twist of specimen 6

19:54 I initially assumed it would have some adverse effect if you attacked it as well, but then it didn't. I presume the thing it's going for is that Specimen 8 is encountered right after you get the axe but is unaffected by it, so if you try to attack it with the axe, you'll almost certainly get hit. It's really not enough to make up for the lackluster stats no matter how much you try to hit it, though.

Actually a bit of a Deer Lord tidbit here, from personal experience If you attack Specimen 1 with your axe during the chase with Deer Lord, it will actually cause you to take some damage. At least when I did it. Now this could’ve just been a glitch, but if it’s an actual mechanic then it would be a cute tie in with the Cat-DOS.

Regarding Specimen 11, I heard sometimes when you're about to get killed by him he'd spare you. End the chase and let you think it was all over. Only for you to enter the meat hallway later.

What i love about our best boy ben is the room he's in is decorated by hanging "puppets" silhouette which actually the lost children of the townspeople. That perfectly adds so much horror surrounding him.

Specimen 12 has an insanely clever gimmick in hd renovation: hes literally just like you, but better. Seriously, he has the same stamina bar as you, but runs faster, he has a (comically large) sickle that he found in the same spot you found your axe, but he can parry with it. His only drawback is that he walks ridiculously slow. Also the entire thing is a reference to the shining as well

Specimen 6 has to be my favorite not only for the inspirations and design but his mechanic is one of the most unique in the game, most of the specimens in story mode and other content like DLC and endless mode mostly just run towards us but we can't run from specimen 6 for the most part, this specimen tripped me up so much when I first played the game.

The apparent reason for why deer lord attacks you even if you didn’t hit him nor his deer friends I think is because you grab the axe and maybe he thinks we’re Violent for taking it?

This was an interesting video, and quite a creative way to celebrate the 2K+ subscribers. Again, congratulations! Now I am waiting for Endless, Kamakari and Doll specimens, lol.

Ngl, seeing specimen 6 again made me freeze up as it was the root of much of terror and dread I faced when I played this game years ago. I had no idea that I had to look at this thing whenever I encountered it, which led to specimen 6 killing me three times during my entire playthrough (the only other specimen to kill me was the Old Man). Just by watching this video made see that this puppet is even scarier than I thought to the point that I had to pause the video multiple times. It doesn't help that its backstory and death screen are some of most disturbing in the entire game. Words cannot describe how much this thing earned the number one spot on your list, as not only is it the most fear inducing gimmick but also the one that killed most people like myself who played this game.

Specimen 11 is so cool that The Mansion’s containment measures are completely useless to him. He can just leave whenever he wants

my favourite part of specimen 6 is how you dont see him move (or at most he just teleports) which was ruined in the hd renovation sadly :(

8 and 4 are my favorites hands down (and not just cause I’m into them). 8 is some kind of demonic wendigo lady/guy with mind control powers who controls hordes of man eating deer. Then 4 is straight the Grudge girl. What’s not to like? Her whole Vore schtick is unique but otherwise still a cool one as she is just a big reference like the Nurse specimen.

My fav is specimen 11, for all the reasons possible; chase theme, design, the food restaurant and lore notes, the mechanic of making doors invisable and everything, and yeah im not and expert of the game but I normally know very well where the doors are :3

pretty sure the "effective against violant subjects" is the reason for the bad ending of the game (due to the dear being the biggest reason to get the bad ending of this game)

I was really enraged when i found out that Ben was number 1 but i realized i didnt see his inner beauty. You gave good damn reason for each ranking of this list and i have no complains whatsoever, i hope you make a video ranking the specimens from the DLCs and from endless.

Honestly I still find it so ironic how I feel the exact opposite with specimen 5 and 10, I absolutely ADORE 5 because of just how unique and odd is the atmosphere it sets in, just the thought of being chased by something you can’t win against, but it takes it’s time, because it knows that you have no chance against it, and maybe it doesn’t, but does it matter? You are losing your mind in an endless maze, and maybe, you can take it slow, but at the end, your own undoing isn’t the mannequin, but rather, yourself letting you get consumed by the horrors of the mansion… but yeah, it’s just such a cool scenario for me! And then there’s 10, I do not have any idea why, but I really hated his chase, I do get why people can enjoy it, but for me, it was just this walk through the park with this stalker following you except that he barely has any power against you, but I know that the reason behind me disliking the chase was just because I felt like there was not much of a rush or any danger, and for me it just got boring… I really enjoy the times where it’s just this feeling of doom and despair, because it truly shows how impotent you are, but with this specimen it really didn’t feel like a chase at all. (For me at least). Anyhow, setting aside that, I really enjoyed the video! And even if I do disagree with some of the rankings here and then, it’s quite interesting to see your point of view and specially shown in such entertaining and well done way! Well done mate!

I think Speciment 7 is even more inspired by a boss fight in one of the Final Fantasy games, I don't remember which one, but it's a wall of skulls that advance toward the protagonists each turn, and if he can reach them, it's game over. Very similar to this specimen

Always been fascinated by specimen 11 since I first saw him and I’m glad to see him getting the love he deserves here. The concept of making something as mundane as a McDonald’s a horror location is so unique and brilliant. You nailed it on the head by describing his room as liminal but before the concept of liminal spaces was well known I always considered it to be kinda surreal and honestly I think that’s why it was always been my favorite. Such a unique monster and location it’s hard not to love specimen 11.

Specimen 4’s theme reminds me of Lavender Town.

19:56 The catch is that if you try to kill him without fleeing you will die to his damage. In my first playthrough I thought he was killable because he was another deer and almost died in the process of realizing he was not affected by my attacks.

This was a really well made video, better than most top 10s I've seen. Also while I would love to give my ranking, I've only played a *tiny* amount of the OG game. I've only played HD really aside from making an unfinished mod for the OG game that changes the old man into Neighbor Man from the hit 2070 indie game hi nurbur. So my opinion is ivalid here, but I will say 8 is my favorite and the original version of 10 us my second favorite (Why can't I find version 2.7.1 I need my eel boi).

Specimen 10 is a personal favorite of mine. Not because of gameplay because it gets really tedious really fast but instead for the build up for the encounter. The atmosphere,the notes about the location and especially the moment where a note mentions noises in the vents…Then you have to go in the vents…

Specimen 3’s upgrade to 3D: I’m boutta this mans whole career

The beef demon once was an owner of the fast food place and he was so crazy that started sacrifising souls to Spooky in order to become a powerful being but Spooky just tricked him and turned him into what he is now.

Very interesting commentary on a ranking video. I'm curious to know, which specimen 6 do you prefer, OG on HD, in terms of mechanics? I agree with Specimen 6 not looking at you makes it really odd and I don't really like it either, I also prefer how he could go through walls/above gaps rather than just teleporting on top of/behind you.

Specimen 3 had absolutely no fear factor in the OG version. Glad they upgraded him in HD Renovation.

i love specimen 10 and its music so much. maybe my favourite specimen next to 11 and 8. (ps, i really appreciate old spookys videos. most of the videos on youtube that i can find are about hd renovation which is annoying when I want footage of the old game.)

specimen 8 is actually so scary. Not talking about OG, I mean HDr. I swear, that phasing animation is literally terrifying. His appearance, Terrifying. His death screen and area? Also terrifying. Lore? Terrifying. So as specimen 6 in my opinion.

The thing about deer lord chasing aggressive individuals isn’t based on whether we harm the deer or not because the second you pick up the axe he sees you as a threat. You are armed and he doesn’t like it.

Fun fact you CAN run away from specimen 10, I did it in my first playthrough. Sadly, in HD is not possible anymore as it deals 45 instead of 10 damage in worm form.
