This doesn’t really have anything to do with the video but I just have to say this. Seeing Nico go from a happy wide eyed kid to the dark gloomy boy we know now is gonna hit even harder in live action. I can’t wait for the show to get more seasons but I’m also not ready for them.
I disliked season 1. The actors were good, but my main problem was with the writing. I felt no suspense, and so many important scenes were cut. I want to see Nico's personality change in the show though, so I'm holding onto that sliver of hope. 😭
8:03 Rick uses side characters to show that they are still kids. Our characters don’t want to be heroes. They could not care less about glory. They want normal lives. The side characters, AKA the ones who aren’t forced on quests constantly, do what normal teenagers do. The side characters are what should have been. Being the hero brings tragedy and they fight this fact by trying to be normal kids. Also, from a writers perspective, side characters life details help your world seem real. The little bits of random information makes the story feel less isolated. Things aren’t static when the plot isn’t moving if people have lives outside of said plot. They are people being brought into a story, not a story that creates people.

I don't think you're understanding what people meant when they said solangelo came out of nowhere. Most people don't mean that we didn't see enough of the relationship developing, it's that Will is introduced as a love interest for Nico waayyy too soon in his arc. Nico's just come off what is arguably the most traumatic arc in the entirety of the series. He goes to Tartarus (alone), is trapped in a metal jar without oxygen for a week, is octracized and bordeline bullied by his teammates aboard the Argo II, forcefully outed by a god in front of a boy he barely knows and finally, he nearly fades into shadow (and is outed AGAIN to Reyna and Coach Hedge by his powers), all within the space of two months, without any breaks and the majority without even an ally. Then, instead of giving him time to heal or even just RECOVER, he's immediately given a random relationship arc in the last few chapters like checking off a box on a gay character to-do list. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE solangelo. I just think I would have loved them a lot more if they'd been introduced as a concept in The Hidden Oracle and confirmed in Tower of Nero, and I think a lot of people agree.
Agreed! Nico went through all that in what? A single freaking month? Then immediately thrown into a relationship out of no where. It’s like checking things off a list, just as you said.
I didn't like Solangelo because I thought it was rushed until a few months later when I did like it and admitted that I didn't like it because it was gay and I was homophobic (I wouldn't have admitted it though). Now it's one of my top ships and I am queer.

I kind of feel like frank and leo would have more depth a a couple (Frank is afraid of fire, and Leo is fire and also the one that protects the stick from fire) but aesthetically Leo and Nico all the waaaaaaaay
I used to ship Rachel and Octavian, and I now wish I didn’t. On Wattpad I still think I have a Rachel x Octavian fanfic saved, and gods forbid, Nico x Reyna (young me was crazy)
I’m glad that you’re eating better from hating Perachel. I know you struggled. I know I did at first but now my OTP is Solangelo. 😊 (this was due to my intro to LGBT in HOH although it wasn’t my awakening but it helped introduce me to LGBT and months later, I realized my sexuality)

Jason, Hazel, and Frank were some favs of mine and I find it hilarious how you called them white bread. Personally I felt Piper was a bit blan to me, it might just be because I feel I haven't seen any full potential with her much, or at least not yet. And genuinely suprised i found someone who actually thought Frank and Leo would be interesting, my multishipper part of me no longer feels like I was shipping something too weird lol.
There are SO MANY obscure ships in PJO AO3 that I have come across you would not BELIEVE it. For example, say Octavian. You hate him, you love him, you say good riddance, you call him anemic, you shove him into therapy etc. He's not really that deep of a character. (And it's never explained if he was being "influenced" by Gaia.) Aside from Rachel he is also shipped with Percy (because Percy), Jason, Reyna, Luke Castellan (dunno why), and also (as I found out when I dug deeper) several others, including Leo, Mike Kahale, Will, Nico, *Connor Stoll* which is so RANDOM, and also the poly "antagonists" one with Ethan, Alabaster and Bryce. (All of those minor ones have the grand total of like 7 fics each.) So strange...
I think it was just the fact that they’re teenagers. 2 years isn’t a lot in a relationship but when one of them is 14 and when of them is 16 it’s a little odd because a lot of maturing happens between those years, If you think of the mentality of a 14 year old and a 16 year old they seem pretty different
I’ve always been surprised that Nico didn’t absolutely hate Leo bc Bianca was killed by one of Hephaestus’s creations and yk Leo is a son of Hephaestus so i feel like a little rivalry between them could’ve added somthing

Walt is sick with the curse of Akhenaton (I believe that's how you spell it?) and is related to King Tut, who was also hit by the curse. His family line was cursed when Akhenaton led Egypt to abandon all of her gods other than Ra, so after he died, all the other gods cursed his family. Both Walt and Anubis had a crush on Sadie, so after some discussions, Anubis hosted Walt’s body to cure him of the curse, allowing Walt to live and for both of them to effectively date Sadie. As for Zia, she was there at the Brooklyn Museum, but later Iskandar put her into a protective coma, replacing her with a shabti, a clay figure. Eventually, Carter saves Zia from her coma, from which Zia dislikes him at first. By the end of the books, however, they grow feelings for each other and begin dating (I believe). Dunno if you'll read this or if you've already found another comment-anything of the sorts-but I hope this helps!
Carter and Zia are amazing but you have to really pay attention and get over Carter’s initial awkwardness btw I LOVE frazel, Sanubis/Salt (would that be Sadie and Walt or would it be Wadie?), tella, and Caleo soooooooooo much but it’s your opinion of course and I can’t change it. I’m with Percabeth all the way but it always made me mad how Annabeth came around. She saw how Luke used Salena’s feelings (another girl’s) and that was what finally made her realize that Luke was evil? It wasn’t the many crimes he’d committed or the fact he’d been trying his best to kill Percy for 4 years. I always felt like Percy should’ve mentioned that once or twice even if it would’ve started conflict. Before that it seemed like Annabeth thought she could fix everything and the 3 of them would go get lunch or something. Obviously they’re past that now but Annabeth is still weirdly friendly with people that have tried to kill Percy I guess it’s obvious Annabeth likes Percy in book 3 but it still feels like she’s more attached to Luke and who he was to her before he turned evil. The way Percabeth is written outside the original series makes it all worth it but it’s a lot to overcome for me.
Also in the king Chronicles, Anubis and Sadies other love I forgot his name they one of them doesn’t die. He is dying, but then Anubis and him merge so it’s like they’re two people so she gets to be with both of them and a noob is basically becomes human yes he does become human It’s like he is a Nubes host.
Well if it makes you feel better Anubis and Walt are kinda connected so if you think about it, its not underaged bc she ends up with Walt in the end so reallllly its okay.
