Very helpful. I was debating on buying Unstable Unicorns. We already own Here to Slay and love it, so knowing that it came in second after that makes me confident in my purchase!
We love Happy Little Dinosaurs. We just added some rules. The looser of the round replenishes hand first and then everyone replenishes one at a time clockwise from the round looser. And for effects the lowest number goes first. If two people have same card played on a round they paper rock scissor to see whos effect goes first. So ya loop holes but easy to fix. And Here to slay def our fav of this. Only one we dont have is Llamas unleashed expansion or any Ruins and regulations. So far im happy with this game producer.
Here to Slay would be higher up in my list if the collect 6 classes win condition was not so easily met. Throughout all of the games that I have played, no one has ever won via monster slaying. Runes and Regulations is at the top of my list. Tons of interactions to keep the game interesting, tons of strategies to use. Rarely does it feel like someone cheeses out a victory.
There's a bit of luck with the card draw and roll of the dice, but we've usually been able to challenge enough actions to make the hero collection equal to the monster slaying. Anecdotal as that may be. Runes and Regulations is fun too. Really, the only game we aren't fans of at all is Happy Little Dinosaurs.
I’ve played here to slay about a half dozen times and only once did someone win by collecting all six classes. I think people forget you can challenge a hero played when he comes out and if you win the challenge he or she goes to the graveyard 🪦
I've won with monsters before, and i just bought an expandion pack that adds 2 new classes (warriors and druids) so you have 8 of them. There is another expansion on the way this year with necromancer and berserker classes.
My first game of Here to Slay was won by someone winning by monster slaying. If you are challenging at the right times, and using your abilities right, it's not unreasonable to get a monster slaying victory.
I love wrong party! My wife and I explain who we invited to our party and why that’s always a funny part after each round. Revealing each guest one at a time.
We like Unstable Unicorns more than Casting Shadows, but there is more to do in Casting Shadows so it’ll feel closer to the gameplay of Here to Slay if you enjoy that one. Unicorns is basically just a card game.
The BGG average ratings aren’t too far off of our order. Here to Slay 7.1 Unstable Unicorns 6.3 Llamas Unleashed 6.5 Runes & Regulations 6.1 Happy Little Dinosaurs 6.3
The base games are very similar with their rules and mechanics, except in one you’re collecting unicorns and the other you’re collecting llamas. Unicorns also has a lot of expansions that can mix the game up though.
I like that you collect different animals in llamas unleashed and collecting different types effect the cards you will play. Also collecting 3 if a kind gives you a special move on your turn. Just played today. My 12 year old won…this round.
I got it today. The rules are confusing but after playing some games and reading de FAQ from the web page i got a funny and competitive Game because the player that was closer to lose by "disasters" kept moving every turn and was always close to the leader
We haven't played it in a long time, but we enjoyed it when we did play it. Not as good as some of Kittens' other games, but still a fun time. We will have to break it out again so we can do a proper review for it on here.
I was thinking about buying Unstable Unicorns but I wasn't sure if it was too similar to Here to Slay and didn't want to purchase a game that is the same. Any advice?
It is similar, but a lot simpler - other than all of the reading involved with so many cards. If you like Here to Slay, you’ll probably like UU, but find it’s missing some elements that Here to Slay offers. If you could only have 1, we’d pick Here to Slay.
@@PartyTails i think he means how when you anything someone can just challenge or decrease his roll kinda of like how in sorry when someone pull thw sorry cars out their ass
