Becuz the Eternal designs come closer to the original Dooms. As i see it, the Eternal Caco looks more like a wild animal from a horrifying dimension than a depressed cyclops head like i see in 2016.
Not just arms, you can see they even have tiny legs. That being said though, those limbs look very vestigial. Perhaps the Cacodemon once had functional arms and legs, but they’ve evidently atrophied to the point of uselessness (perhaps due to an over-reliance on flight for mobility)
You’ll note that this guy won’t do the Hell Knight, because that would mean shitting on Doom 2016 and Doom Eternal, since it was patterned after Doom 3.
I can say that Doom's 3 Cacodemon is really amazing in both design and sound design sides. I was hoping to see a similar design for Eternal, but welp, it wasn't what we got; don't get me wrong, I love the models of Eternal, but yeah, a 4K model of Doom's 3 Cacodemon would be a dream, I love its design moves so much from the original idea, giving us a lovecraftian like monstruosity. I really do hope that the next Doom game returns on the horror path, just one single game would be enough for the rest of my life AHAH. So yeah, I will always love Doom 3, despite of what the mass thinks
@@gamemaster2192 It wasn't terrible at all if you played it in 2004. I bought the day it came out and I enjoyed playing it. It was the first Doom title released since the 90s. Of course if you compare it to Doom 2016 & Doom Eternal, it looks like it's not even related. But it was a great game.
@@gamemaster2192I also played the original Doom back in 1994 when my dad got it for our IBM computer. Doom 3 was successful in achieving its goal of creating a more scary and dark game. It did a fantastic job with the use of lights and shadows. Sound-wise, it allowed players to immerse themselves fully in the marine character. Although the demon models were not loyal to the DOS version of Doom, they were ok, maybe a 5 out of 10. Just saying Doom 3 wasn't good without saying anything else to support your opinion it makes me believe you played it when the remastered version came out, or much later than 2012. Doom 3 is a solid 8.5/10
Doom 3 was the only Doom that didnt have cartoonish childrens toy looking characters with neon eyes. Monsters always looked more scary/realistic in doom 3.
Doom 3 was the 1st time the demons were rendered in 3D. It was very cool to see at the time. The designs fit the horror theme very well. My favorite was pinky lol.
DOOM was never truly a horror game. That's kind of why the third entry is the black sheep of the series and stands out like a sore thumb. DOOM 2016 brought the series back to its roots as a fast-paced action shooter. They'll probably keep it that way.
It's not. It resembles the original Pain Elemental from DOOM II, but it IS officially a Cacodemon. The demons were all redesigned for DOOM 64 and their different appearances was explained in-game as the Mother Demon having resurrected all the demons the Doom Marine killed, mutating and corrupting their bodies.
Even through they are practically the same design, 2016's design is way creepier than Eternal's with that completely green eye. In some ways I prefer the more serious tone of 2016, other ways I love the ridiculousness of some of Eternal's concepts.
@@VoidiumTheEye Agreed. While I do like the designs of the creatures from DOOM 3, they don't read "demon" to me. They look more like aliens and are too far removed from the original designs. DOOM 2016 did a much better job there.
Eternal imp, soldier, hell knight, pinky, mancubus and cyberdemon all had more personality and looked more fleshy and angry. only revenant and baron are a downgrade. and the cyberdemon in 2016 is hands down the worst in the series, 95% warcraft monster, 5% cyber.
Doom 3 has great designs. Not faithful to the original, but that's fine. The game is a different genre so of course the designs are different. People forget that the modern hell knight came straight out of doom 3, and I believe the imps lookee similar too.
God damnit, I can’t look at the doom eternal one without seeing heavenly (one of russianbadger’s friends who in his videos is depicted with a caco demon)
I wish Doom eternal had more demon variants during the campaign don't get me wrong I love the campaign of game it's just there's not enough demon variations
For me doom 3 isn't like a cool fast pace fps game. It gives the real horror experience. You don't know what's hiding in a corner, the demons also give me a feeling that's how demon should looks like coming from hell.
I always wondered when it came to Doom 64 if the Cacodemon and the Pain Elementals sprites were swapped. Because the Caco looks more like a Pain Elemental and while the PE isn't a 1 to 1 Caco it's red and has no arms and a green eye.
Doom : Meatball Doom 64 : Rotten Meatball Doom 3 : Elderitch being from hell Doom 2016 : It has balls Doom ETERNAL : Most normal demon thats sitting in your chair (its a pile of laundry) Also the balls shrink
