What I love about bobs burgers is how dry and monotone the jokes are. That’s why I think the jokes don’t land in your opinion. Bob saying “Gene” after Gene says he’d eat Bob is perfection to be. The little sounds they make and how annoyed bob gets with his family it just *chefs kiss*
This show is my ultimate comfort show. I love the town, how the kids walk to school, their little apartment, how the kids all hangout together. It’s funny but not offensive. I just love it. It is like a balm for my soul 😌
@@cleanestmidwestemofan oh the songs are so great!! My favorite is Lifting Up the Skirt of the Night from the episode where Bob becomes a cab driver! That’s also one of my fave episodes in general
OK NOW friend, I get that the B plot of Linda going blonde wasn't a favorite of yours, but overlooking THE SINGLE BEST throwaway line from Gene is unforgivable! "I like your hair, it matches your teeth."
Ngl everytime a new season I'd finished I bing the whole show again with the new season its alot but Bob's Burgers is my happy place cartoon 🥰 Love the Belchers
“Sheesh Cab, Bob” is my all time favorite episode and the series holds a special place in my heart. Before my ex passed away it was our favorite show and we always said we could see is having a family like the Belchers. I watch this series whenever I miss him 🥰
Personally, mines "The Itty Bitty Ditty Committee" I like the amount of fun art style changes and how it looks all fluid. i am also kind of a band geek.
Your critique of all part 1s of 2 parters was 'it doesn't work well on its own' and part 2 was 'its better because its the payoff from the last episode.' Maybe that's a sign its best to just talk about both as a unit, the way theyre supposed to be?
completely understand your lower ranking of some episodes because of their boring plots/subplots. but i'd like to argue that this is what makes the show so wonderful. it's exaggerated stories of what could be a real family in a small and kitschy town, surrounded by recurring characters. it's as real as an animation can be in terms of life and relationships. i think of this show as the antithesis to rick & morty.
i completely agree. i like rick and morty most times, but bobs burgers is my 100% favorite show (i have my kuchi kopi nightlight sitting next to me as i write this) because of how it’s not condescending or argues that normal life is meaningless and thereby not worth living (like rick and morty). instead, it values and emphasizes our bonds with each other and how amazing they can make even the most simple life.
As far as the Bob's father's restaurant plothole goes - I think the ladies who returned the box meant "your dad's old place" as in his home, not his restaurant, I always figured they meant the home where Big Bob used to live, he didn't necessarily live in the same building as his restaurant like Bob does.
I always forget that Tammy used to be Brown haired until ill I rewatch this episode. I do love how they worked the change they wanted to make into the story and have her dye her hair now instead of just changing it up and acting like it was always that way from the beginning. They brought what they want to change into the storyline
absolutely!!! and them still keeping bobs tattoo on his back after the equestranauts episode. Louise getting the loft bed. animated shows don't normally keep things in like that, I love that they pay attention to detail and actually make the belchers feel like a real family not just animation
Love how there can be big differences between two big Bob's Burger's fans. For example, you didn't really care for Flu-ise but that's actually my favorite episode of the entire series. Really fun video though! Fun little catch on the sequence break with Aunt Gale dating Mr. Frond.
sometimes i feel like I'm the only one that really enjoyed the first season and even more so the first episode.... like the first ep is soooooo great !! there are so many jokes and punchlines that keep coming nonstop like the burger of the day or bob and linda arguing and her saying "I'm done. Bob? Im done" and the iconic 'you're all my family but you're all terrible I would fire you all if I could"
i love how so many (including myself) find so much comfort in this show. i’m almost always rewatching it and it still hasn’t lost its charm. also the movie’s absolute fire and deserved better
Same I never knew so many other people felt this way! Most of my friends think it’s a solid show but don’t understand why I love it so much and find comfort in it! Also the scene in the movie where Louise is in the hole and the teeth fall into her mouth I almost missed the next five mins of the movie bc I was laughing so hard 😂
I think what makes this show personally my ‘comfort show’ is how much the family care so much for each other. They may always wind each other up but deep down they would do anything just to see each other happy. I mean look at s13 episode 10 for example.
I think, in Ain't Miss-Debatin', Tina admitting that she doesnt have feelings for the person that has a crush on her is a big step for her character. Before this, Tina kind of just went along with any boy who kinda liked her and this is because shes not in love with them, shes just in love with the idea of love. She has low self esteem and because of that she feels like she needs to be in a relationship to be worth something. In this episode, she realizes that she wouldnt be happy if she was with someone she didnt genuinely like, and that just shows how much she's grown and gotten more confident in herself. Go Tina!
Season 3 episode 23 has a mistake! You said Bob sold the espresso machine to pay for genes baseball camp but Linda actually stole the espresso machine and bob was mad and wanted to get the money back. They get into a funny fight after gene scores a hit
I like to listen to videos like this while I do other things in different tabs. I think you could make these videos better if you said the name of the episodes and you elaborated a little more on what specifically you didn't like about episodes, even just tiny details. That would make these videos a little more easy to follow in my opinion.
Beefsquatch is the only Bob's Burgers episode I don't like. My favorite thing about the show is how much the family enjoys each others company and Bob and Gene being mean to each other just annoys me
Great video, I don’t agree with a lot of the reasoning for your video rankings but I enjoyed it nonetheless. We all have our favorites of course but I feel like a lot of the things you find weird just works so well in the episodes.
Bobs burgers is my favorite show currently airing on television and I just really want to thank you for such a well put together video. The editing, script writing, and overall effort put into this video is something I can really appreciate. Side note, you have an amazing voice for commentating, made the video that much better :)
My absolute favorite episode is The Hauntening with Sliding Bobs a close Tie. The Hauntening was great because not only was Louise surprised but i was too!
the Halloween episodes are my favorite and that’s probably the #1. I think the sound mort makes when he throws his back out and When teddys mom screams at the end are my favorite moments 😂😂😂
Season 8 is my personal favorite, though I think Bob's Burgers is an incredibly consistent show. Just so many solid and great episodes that season. My fave is Babysit Me One More Time
Tbh any episode gayle is in I just skip by on rewatches Bc I find her overly annoying to the point where it’s not funny lol. I get that that’s her character, just ain’t for me chief
This show (along with Futurama and Brooklyn Nine-Nine) holds such a special place in my heart because it's so easy to watch and helped me so much during a time when I was horribly depressed. I was so anxious that I couldn't fall asleep unless I had Bob's Burgers playing in the background. It's one of the few shows that is heartwarming and hilarious without being malicious, and I'll always treasure it for that. I enjoyed this video a lot!
I have to say I related so much to when he started talking about mort just disappearing and whenever I talked to someone about it they just didn’t notice
It's so weird the details I remember about these episodes. Like I'll forget the whole A plot about synchronized swimming, but I'll remember Bob being excited about getting the soft serve machine.
Fun fact; The show was originally about a family of cannibals, who buy their meat from the funeral home next door to make burgers. Then they changed it to be more family friendly. Lol but that’s why the first episode had a reference to it. (Can find a video of the creators speaking about it if you look it up )
I agree! Tinarannosaurus Wrecks (season 3, episode 7) is one of THE best episodes of the show. From the car wreck, to the insurance scam,to Bob being a great dad, to the fire, to her faces. Just spectacular. Love it so much whenever Tina is the centered of an episode.
Bob didn't sell the espresso machine, Linda did without him knowing. The plot didn't really revolve around Tina trying to get the machine back, it revolved around Bob trying to prove to Linda that the baseball 'coach' was a scam artist.
I really am enjoying this video. From the length to the details given. One thing I wish you did throughout the video is state a season number, episode number or even the name of the episode for audio listeners to follow along.
I love the Halloween episodes especially the one where they go to a different town and end up rivaling with the other kids of that town gives you a sense of nostalgia
I really liked the Dead Poets Society references in season 4's episode 7. It's a movie about this strict boys school with Robin Williams as a free thinking teacher. The stepping on the table thing the kids do comes from this movie. The music in that scene where all the pupils step on the tables is also very reminiscent of the movie. Season 6 episode 11 is also a parody of one of these romcoms. I don't know which exactly, but I could swear that I've seen this kind of plot at least twice before and I found it hilarious when Bob's Burgers made their version own version with Tina who is guaranteed to fall in love with the boy she's executing such a plan with, of course.
I'm sure many people realize this, but missing from your analysis: Season 8, Episode 2 is a "Silence of the Lambs" parody. You mentioned that about most other episodes that were parodies. Also, imo the vignette episodes are *by far* the best. You get three storylines, one about each kid, for the price of one. 😉
Personally, animation wise I love season 1 and most of 2’s jagged sort of rough animation and I tend to have most of my favourite episodes from these seasons
One thing I love about Bob's burgers is that when they introduce a side character, they don't just do it because it's part of an episode or to make an interesting episode. They do it and then keep them in the story. You don't seem much of marshmallow anymore but they did it with her and Mickey and the 1 eyed snakes. I love that they introduce them to make them a part of the Bob's Burger's cast and not just want to you'll see in the background of the restaurant but once they continue to interact with.. I just wish there was more marshmallow in the later seasons like there were in the earlier ones
I also noticed the lack of mort and had made several comments to friends about it throughout the last few seasons but I’ve been happy to notice he seems to be back as a regular this season!
You explained a few episodes wrong. Like the one where Tina gets addicted to caffeine, she didn't force Bob to get the machine back, Linda sold it behind his back and he wanted it back. And Tammy's birthday, she was not forced, she wanted to go so bad she made her family cater the party.
The espresso bit was actually Linda selling it behind Bob’s back at a pawn shop after being convinced by Louise and they tried to play dumb when Bob realizes the espresso machine was gone and Tina started smashing Linda’s figurines to get her to confess. Bob then tried to get his money back from the scammer but it backfired cause of a bet.
The very first episode from season 1 is amazing, including how the pilot episode was gonna be based on the whole human flesh thing and how they put humans in their food and I find it funny how Kenny isn’t really at all.😂
.....i watched this to see what eps i hadn't seen yet and it just turns out that I've been able to watch all of them in the last couple of years via RU-vid uploads... I'm impressed
2:02:37 as much as it’s certainly not a common thing, classes with kids from different grades aren’t that strange. I mean, I also didn’t have the option to take elective courses until High School so that seems odd to me. But in 9th grade, I took two classes where I met and made friends with 12th graders.
My wife, son, and I are a Bob's family. We have watched the full seasons multiple times and randomly watched episodes 100s literally. ANYWAY, our favorite is Art Crawl!
Episode Three is one of my favorites! I love how Bob ends up loving Moo-lissa! Episode Six is also wonderful, as I love watching Bob making friends with the night characters and Tina has a great party!
Wow what a list. I was in utter bliss. I agree with most but season 9 definitely had its problems I am in massive Bob's burgers fan. Thank you for taking the time and the effort for making such a list I will definitely be subscribing from Scotland with love. ❤️👀✊
Guess I'll watch Bob's Burgers again 🤣 Also, I love your video ! It's interesting to hear your ranking and opinions on all the episodes. I can agree with some of your points, but my list would definitely be different. Overall, I love this show so much !!! 😁 After listening to your ranking and all of the episodes names, I love how punny they are. So clever and creative 🥰 Please do Season 12 and future seasons !!!
I watched this video all the way through, and it’s such a masterpiece. I agreed with you on the issue about Mort being less prevalent in S8, and my thought was that they have maybe had a hard time getting the voice actor for Mort in the studio long term. Shows have that happen sometimes, and most often choose to replace the actor or write the character out. It seems they’ve taken the approach of the latter, if this is the case
I love this video and it is what got me to subscribe. I don't agree with every take you have but I loved hearing your reasoning. If I could give some advice (or maybe it's more of a request) it would be totally awesome if you could take a moment to actually say the episode number and title instead of having it just written on the screen? Especially for longer videos like these, I like to listen to them in the background while I play video games. It's not a big issue and I could gather what you were talking about based context. Especially since I've seen this show so many times. But it would be a nice little touch. Might add a minute or two in the run time all together but personally I think it would be pretty nifty. Either way, I enjoyed the video and you gained a new subscriber :)
I watched the first episode when it aired and didnt keep up with it. When it came to Netflix, I binged it and Burgerboss was the episode I always started with. Glad to see it’s high on the list.
Bob's burgers as it a family show of mine my mom loves it as much as i do but just going back so season 1 seeing the funny crazy episodes now going to the newer ones like season 13 episode 10 with Louise cute little poem it's grown so much and its wholesome i just love it!! 💙💙
One thing I really love about that Thanksgiving up so dimensioned was how Bob finally won In the end. He didn't have to settle for a loss and he didn't have to try to make it sound like it was OK. The turkey was saved and and ended up being really good. He finally got a break
I didn't even know that there was a Bob's Burgers movie in production. But I have always highkey been waiting for one since I started watching the show. And I can't help but agree that the first season is great it gives the show a strong 💪 foundation that some animated adults shows failed to do.
with the technology advancing pretty realistically in bob's burgers (mostly because they dont mention it all that much) i think it'd be fantastic to see that commercial they made come back. it seems like exactly the kind of thing that could realistically go unnoticed for years until its suddenly being memed half to death. traditional media is typically very very bad at portraying internet/meme culture and i think every any set of writers is gonna get it right, it'll be the bob's burgers writers.
It's so interesting that people can have such differing opinions on individual episodes. I disagreed with a lot of takes, but I respect the reasoning. At the end of the day, we can all agree that Bob's Burgers is amazing and refreshing given the other animated family sitcoms.
Was just curious to see how this was going to start ended up watching all of it in one sitting... Good job appreciate all the work you put in got a subscribe from these guy 👍
Also. It is said that the scene in which Teddy gets his hand caught in the fridge from “Christmas in the Car” was animated by director/supervising director Bob Derriman
Small nitpick, but you say that Colleen first appeared in "P.T.A. It Ain't So",but she actually appeared long before that,it was just her most vocal appearance.
So your comment at 1:50:42 is 100% right. Every scout camp I have been to has had kids spend so much time just playing gaga ball. Once a kid pulled a knife on someone cause they got him out.
I just noticed that in the first episode the outside shot of the restaurant shows that they have banners under the grand re-re-re opening banner meaning they really did just consecutively have to open and close before they actually could take all the banners down
Bob's dad's restaurant was somewhere else, he sold it and moved to another location so it's not a plot hole 57:48 also Linda was the one who sold the machine. There were a few mistakes on this video but overall, I enjoyed seeing different viewpoints of the show since it's one of my favorites
Not to be nitpicky, but in the episode "Fingers Loose", it's not Helen that Teddy is dating, it's Kathleen (and Bob and Linda try to find the best way for Teddy to sneak burgers into the movie theater).
I've never looked at this show in that way, so critically. I think you did a great job picking apart each episode, but I have vastly different opinions haha. I also think you should've spread this out into different videos, not because I got bored or anything, just think it would benefit the channel more. I think you deserve to have better watch times haha and not a lot of people will watch a 3-hour video. I watched the entire thing though, surprisingly haha!!
I loved this video, but personally Mutiny on the Windbreaker is my favorite episode. I can understand how it feels disconnected from other episodes, though.
I love everything about season one. In my opinion it would be nearly perfect as a stand-alone, if not for episode 13 (torpedo), which feels like it belongs somewhere in season two. The first season is so perfectly simple which fits the feel of older classic sitcoms while creating a new unique sense of humor for the genre. The setting of the majority of the season is the restaurant, and the rest takes place in a very believably quaint town. The entire season has a very personal feel. It almost reminds me of a theater set, in that being limited to such a small setting gives it charm. At times the humor is more than just jokes in the dialogue. To me the entire plot of episode 3 (sacred cow) is so upfront about its irony that watching the plot play out is enjoyable and funny without excessive jokes. Season one really seemed to have a vision to be something charming and different. While the later seasons did become more polished, I feel like the show became more generic with time, like other animated sitcoms meant to be accessible to as wide of an audience as possible, such as family guy or the Simpsons.
The one episode that I really actually hate and can't even watch when it comes on is the garden one it's like Bob finally has one thing that he likes to do and it's actually helping the restaurant cuz he gets fresh ingredients and the kids can't take being a little bit annoyed by the jerk offs kid working at the shop he always puts them first but they just cannot let him win once
