I appreciate the way your video gets right to the meat of it, and I like your sarcastic manner, not talking yourself too seriously. I've never heard GTR, so I won't include it. Also, I'm more of a Phil Genesis guy, so my ranking reflects that. And I'm 51. 1: And Then 2: Genesis "Mama" 3: Abacab 4: Selling 5: Duke 6: We Can't 7: Trick 8: Wind 9: Foxtrot 10: Nursery 11: Trespass 12: Invisible 13: Lamb 14: Calling

'The Lamb' was my first Genesis album and to this day my favorite. I love all of the Gabriel-era albums and also 'A Trick of the Tail'. I was never able to fully get into 'Wind and Wuthering' for some reason. And I do enjoy the later albums, albeit not as much as the earlier ones. But like you, I find 'Calling All Stations' not worthy of investigation. Cheers.

Maybe I am dumb but From Genesis To Revelation is in my top five. For me it its magical. But I think I am the only person on this planet who appreciates this one. 1. Selling, (by far) 2.Trespass, 3. Foxtrot, 4.GTR, 5. Lamb, 6. Nursery Crime and then...not sure. Not Phil Collins. Well I like the song Mama, but....

@@BryersMusicShowcase Maybe it is just a matter of age. Although I love Radiohead and Animal Collective I grew up with Beatles, Smal Faces, Hollies, Zombies and Kinks. To name a few. And Bowie. I am 72. And congrats to you that you are listening and being open to "old music" as well. Thanks for reacting anyway. Are you british? Klaus

Forxtrot is at the rank it deserves the first. Genesis (1983) is the album that got me back to Genesis after Peter Gabriel's leaving, which I did not accept very well. Now, I'm more indulgent. The main reason I love Genesis (1983) is Home By the Sea-Second Home By the Sea. A musical piece that easily stand the comparison with the great anthems of the Peter Gabriel era. Mama is excellent too, with the video featuring an eerie almost demoniac looking Phil Collons that made a big impression on me.

Nursery Cryme and Foxtrot 100 percent. For me NC has the edge for rawness. Lamb, Selling England, Trespass, Trick and Wind are great but occasional weak moments. Wind and Wuthering is the last good album and the first in the long, slow slide into gradual mediocrity. After that there are occasional flashes of brilliance - Dukes Travels, Keep it Dark, Mama, The Brazilian

I only recently got heavily into Genesis. Growing up in the 80s I only knew Invisible Touch. As you will see, I'm not a big fan of the pop era. That said, the later Collins era does bring back good memories. Here's my ranking: 1. Foxtrot 2. Lamb 3. Selling England 4. Nursery 5. Trick of the Tail 6. Duke 7. Wind and Wuthering 8. And Then There Were 3 9. Trespass 10. Abacab 11. Genesis 12. Invisible Touch 13. We Can't Dance 14. From Genesis 15. Calling All Stations

1 Selling England 2 Nursery 3. Foxtrot 4. Trick 5. Duke 6. Wind 7. Trespas 8 Abacab 9. Invisible 10. Lamb 11. Then there were 12. We can't 13 Genesis 14 From Genesis 15 Calling All I would not put Foxtrot on first place. Despite Suppers Ready is maybe my favorte Genesis song, I feel that the first side have some weak songs like "gettem out.." On the other hand Selling and Nursery are thoughout the album on a very high level. Same with Trick. And I dont quite understand why Abacab often gets so bad ratings. I think it has some really strong and cool songs.

The Lamb Lies Down On Broadway (shocking I know) 8. Foxtrot (doubly as shocking) 7. Wind & Wuthering 6. Genesis 5. Nursery Cryme 4. Selling England By The Pound 3. Invisible Touch 2. Duke 1. A Trick Of The Tail I love the stuff they did with Peter Gabriel but I prefer the live versions that Phil did, especially Cinema Show off Seconds Out and In The Cage medley off the Mama Tour DVD

Wind And Wuthering and Genesis (1983) are two albums that you should listen to a bit more...as they both deserve to rank higher than you have them. There is no way that Duke is better than Wind and no way that Abacab is better than Genesis '83. For me, the two best albums are a tie for #1...Nursery Cryme and A Trick Of The Tail. I don't consider Congo a Genesis album...so the "worst" is Abacab.
@jhillst
@jhillst 2 года назад
I'd also put Abacab ahead of Genesis '83. Mama and Home By The Sea are the only real highlights on that album; the rest ranges from mediocre to awful. I agree that W&W is way too low, though...that one's #5 for me.
@hogweed1975
@hogweed1975 2 года назад
The album cover of And Then There Were Three took me literally decades to understand, but I do now. It's meant to be funny, believe it or not, together with the title, which is meant to be a pun on mafia families in which all the members are killed off one by one. 'And then there were three, I wonder who's next?'... that kind of thing. What you see on the cover is supposed to be some sort of hint at the mobsters plotting their next kill. Easily their worst record cover, and one of the worst in general I think.

@@BryersMusicShowcase Really liked your video by the way! I used to be the odd youngster in the Genesis fandom, going to concerts with middle aged people all around me. I became a fan in 1990, just before We Can't Dance (which I consequently still love, even the songs that should have been left off). Now I 'm middle aged myself and it's good to see there are still young people getting into the band (and alienating themselves from their peers I'm sure, haha!)

CAS gets far too much undeserved hate Come on it's at least better than Revelations or Abacab! Lol Also l think apart from the first 3 tracks you've also got the excellent Dividing Line and There Must Be Some Other Way... both have the classic Tony Banks rock out on synth and Dividing Line has an amazing drum track. Very Genesis sounding longer pieces.
@jhillst
@jhillst 2 года назад
I think Abacab is the one that gets too much undeserved hate, myself. Off CAS, the only tracks I kinda like are the title track, Not About Us and The Dividing Line. Aside from TDL, the longer tracks are just bad cut-and-paste jobs; they have none of the creative arrangements or sense of adventure that the classic Genesis epics had.

Aaagh... Hold on My Heart is actually one of the filler tracks on We Can't Dance. Dude you're stoned! 😉😂
