I agree that the Bruins are probably a wildcard team with their significant worsened roster but I wouldn’t be necessarily surprised if they win a series, or at least come close. They still have lots of goaltending talent, as well as Pasta, Marchy, McAvoy, Coyle, and the regain of Lucic

The Atlantic will be so fun this year. Looking at the wild card tier and seeing 4 teams from there is wild. Also the fact that none are contenders even if the leafs are probably gonna win the division.

I think Detroit deserves to be in the wildcard spot. You have to remember Detroit's depth improved alot. Daniel Sprong, Klim Kostin etc. Seider and Raymond should be better. I'm expecting Detroit to finish between 13- 18 overall, that's wildcard territory.

The avalanche didn't even need to get "better" from last season much, they mostly just needed to get healthy. I think of they had the full roster for all of playoffs they would've gone up against Vegas

Blues fan here. Cap space wasn’t there for a move with those picks so we used them. Those players are going to be NHL’ers. Our drafting and development has been great the last 7-10 years. I think we improved because of the coaching turnover. I believe they can fix the defense but we have to wait to see.

I feel like stars have a chance at the cup if there’s an injury crisis on 1 or 2 good teams

As a caps fan I see us being between wild card and mediocre were getting older and the metropolitan is just stacked and all were doing is trying to get Ovi the goal record

Only things I would change Dallas moves up 1, they'll win the central that makes them a contender Wild move down 1, they got worse & have TONS of dead cap Panthers move up 1, they under performed most of the regular season. I anticipate they'll play more like how they did in the payoffs

I think people are putting way too much stock into the Avs having 1 random 1st round loss. Like stanley cup contenders randomly get upset all the time, its no big deal. When you have 4 guys like Mackinnon, Rants, Makar and Toews you are contenders, lets not overthink this stuff

If the Avs are healthy this year they will go on another run. The talent alone puts them in contention but the depth is there you just dont know it yet. Sakic doesnt miss.

I agree with 30 of what u said...What i would change is have Chicago in mediocre...Having Bedard and Hall will boost their scoring,but the defence and goaltending is still bad..Also Colorado had tons if injuries..They will be slightly healthier...Healthy enough to be cup contenders.

Boston Bruins current core of Pastrnak, Marchand, Lindholm, McAvoy, and the tandem in net will likely be enough to make them a playoff caliber team 2024. Zacha will be 1C to start the season. It’ll be interesting

Buffalo, Boston, Ottawa and Florida cannot all be wildcard teams as that leaves only Toronto and Tampa Bay above them...unless you expect Montreal or Detroit to become playoff teams... I understand your ranking doesn't necessarily reflect the divisions, but the divisions are the reality of the league and once the playoffs begin, as we saw this season with Boston and Florida, the game changes significantly.

Edmonton haven't shown any reason to be considered a cup contender imo. It's obviously always possible when you have the best player of all time on your team but they've never shown an adeptness at playing playoff hockey.

I dont know if Vegas getting rid of Smith was a significant loss. Yes Smith is a leader and a very solid player. However, hes 32 and has a pretty steady decline. I love him as a player, but hes getting older and Vegas was actually desperate for a spot for one of their young guys to breakthrough in. Paul Cotter, Pavel Dorofeyev or a player more similar to Rielly Smith's own style like Jonas Røndbjerg. There are even rumors Maxime Comtois is going to sign a PTO with VGK and who knows where that will lead. They actually really need to make space for the kids to come up.

Interesting. I'd say that all the teams that you described as "playoff teams" could actually win the Cup (except may be Minnesota) . I doubt the Bruins will be so bad. I wouldn't be surprised to see Detroit and Arizona surprise. As for my Habs, it's another development year, but, we'll be better. We could surprise an overconfident team, any given night.

Florida Panthers have almost the same core that won the Presidents Trophy in 21-22 and people instantly forgot about this and speak like it is now entirely different team

IMO I think Ottawa will finish top 3 in the Atlantic, at the end of the video there were only 2 Atlantic Playoff locks so you’re missing a 3rd which I think and am confident will be Ottawa

Coming from a Rangers fan I agree with this post, regarding Jersey. They look loaded and the only thing holding them back is maybe their goaltending. Other than that, no holes in the lineup whatsoever.

Agree with pretty much everything, but I would move Washington to Wildcard and Edmonton to Playoff team. If fully healthy, the Caps shouldn’t not compete for a wc spot (probably won’t make it though). Edmonton, like Colorado and Tampa, doesn’t have the forward depth to be with CAR, NJD, and VGK in my eyes. The defense isn’t that great either.

The kings don’t have a goaltender I would say they are a wildcard team at best ! Yeah they may have good offensive fire power but like the old saying goes offensive will win you games but defense and goaltending will win you championships ! From a bruins fan fair were you ranked my team not worried about the bruins at all just enjoy this season whatever happens happens! Bruins will be back after this year contending for a cup just re tool at center position and the bruins have a lot more money next offseason just enjoy and have some fun this year boys! I may be way off but i think the Bruins are going to miss the playoffs this year. Their win totals were inflated last year, and they got worse than any other team in the league. Ullmark is goijg to regress, Marchand is 35 and his 100 point seasons are likely beyind him, and their forward group is just below average now. Maybe their D and goalies carry them to a wildcard spot but i think Zacha gets eaten up by other 1st line centers

I don't get why people are downplaying Florida. Yeah they started out pretty poorly last season and went 15-16-4 before the christmas break but after that they went 40-24-4 through the next six months. And that's after a President's Trophy season. So basically they've played one two month period of relatively bad hockey in the last three years and people are talking like they are a complete fluke? Makes no sense.

Bruins fan here DONT think the bruins are going to get pushed around if we are talking hockey and not talking stupid or smack the bruins still have a great D core and still have the best goalie tandem in hockey ! Oh and still have guys that can score ! Everyone thinking the bruins are going to be awful doesn’t know what they are talking about bruins will make the playoffs wildcard team for sure ! But the bruins WILL be contending again next year the bruins have more cap space next offseason just need to retool and bruins will be back contending and back at the top of the league! So any haters of the bruins enjoy this year because the bruins being a wildcard team isn’t going to last long !!!!!

Blues fan here I have to disagree with your ranking A lot of the blues struggles came from coaching (going from Montgomery to MacTavish is a huge drop in quality) and not necessarily on the players ROR and tarasenko weren’t the centerpieces of our offense last year or the year before and picking up Vrana is HUGE considering his potential Also binnington is still really good despite what the numbers may show and anyone who actually watched the games last year would know just how bad the defense was in front of him Getting a better defensive coach who will hold players accountable will make our team better I would personally rank them in either playoff team or wildcard team

Why would pick edmonton and maple leafs higher the Winnipeg. Both teams cannot defend and they have the worst goalies in the league. Right now winnipeg has the two best goalies that keep them in a lot games. They have a defensive record of holding most to teams to 2 or 3 goals and if they score 5 goals their undefeated.

Dallas should be in the Stanley Cup contenders tier over Edmonton imo. They made it all the way to the Conference Final and lost to the eventual stanley cup contenders. They have more forward depth than Edmonton, and they have better defense. Miro Heiskanen is a beast and Edmonton doesn't have a defenseman anywhere near his caliber. They also have better goaltending than Edmonton.

Call me crazy but Caps, Pens, Hawks and CBJ will be playoff teams. Kings and Wild will be wildcard contenders. Caps have a new Coach that the core team and a lot of the young players are already acquainted with and believe in. The core team is returning healthy - 4 of their core players missed about half or more of the season due to injury and Ovi missed 9 games. They have great goal tending and they are now younger, and beefier on the blueline. Plus Max Pacioretty expects to join the team by December. If he stays healthy on this team, he is scoring 25+ goals next season and 35-40 the following season. Caps power play is going to be insane with Max on it. He had 3 goals in 5 games last season and 19 in 35 the season before. Carlson is in the top 30 for all-time assist with current players and top ten for defencemen. Backstrom is 3rd over all just behind Kane and Ovi is 7th over all. Backstrom (injuries aside) and Ovi are not slowing down. These guys can easily play and produce consistently into their mid 40s. haha Caps fanboy here. Flames are my home and fav team though.

I would swap Edmonton with Dallas. They are the better all around team.
