Same, I love this movie. But why are the Saw movies actually so low at the box office compared to action movies? It's weird. For example, Tom Cruise's movies made $12.1 billion at the worldwide box office. That's 12x more than the entire Saw franchise. Or Leonardo DiCaprio's Titanic made $2.2 billion.
@Matt-Are-Gee
@Matt-Are-Gee 4 месяца назад
@@Julian-p7q-b4t The budget to profit ratio is probably not that much different though. Think about it: the original movie had a million dollar budget and grossed over 100 million. That's a huge ratio. I'm not sure if any Tom Cruise movie ever. Actually exceeded $1 billion but a lot of them are budgets over 100 million. Which means even if they had seen a billion dollars at the box office would still be 1 to 10 as opposed to 1 to $100. Horror movies in general do not get the bigger budgets or the big numbers because of their rating. The only movie rated r that's grossed quite a bit is the Deadpool series, and again they had a much bigger budget to work with. Also, Tom Cruise has been in a lot more than 10 movies

I just wish that Gordon hadn’t been revealed until the twist itself. Why they showed him at the beginning and made him have that creepy voice is beyond me. It literally gave away that he was in on it
@pooroldJR
@pooroldJR 3 месяца назад
agreed, the cauterization scene is cool, but they could've put it at the end of the movie and give Gordon a bit more screene time there if his first appearance was the pig mask unmasking scene (as he drugs Hoffman).. I can't imagine the goosebumps
@Zoologic21
@Zoologic21 Месяц назад
It was such a poorly organized reintroduction of his character to the series after being gone for basically the whole time since the first film. It’s like after all that time they had to go through not having him, they bring him back to the series in the most uninspired, clumsiest, cliche way possible, no mystery, no real gotcha or not as big of a reveal as it could have been if they just had him appear for the very first time during the unmasking at the end. I don’t know how many people might have anticipated him being in with Jigsaw after he was shown a couple of times throughout the film, but the impact of the reveal really wasn’t as great because of it. There are a number of things to not really like about Saw 3D, but it just stumbles so easily with decisions that could have been made to at least make the film a little more efficient and logical. By the time they show him doing the cliche slow clap or his expression of “isn’t that great, but I can tell you’re lying” when he shows up at the Saw survivor support group meeting, I think you just knew he was going to be shown to be in on it all. I guess they thought that having all of his scenes at the end would have seemed rushed, but there had to have been a balance they could have achieved where they reveal him for the first time as part of the twist but also show his scenes of escape and recovery.

I know people tend to say “oh William Easton is so awful and everybody wants him to die” but I actually agree that I was rooting for him to survive by the end. He worked hard to help everybody that he could and really did seem to understand that the way he was running his career was super evil and corrupt. I also think he would’ve ended up a changed person and if I were the family on the other side of the cage, I wouldn’t have wanted him to die. But also because I could never have that on my conscience

I personally love Saw V and have it at my #3. I love both the back and forth with Hoffman and Strahm as well as the test of the fatal five. It also gives so much backstory to Detective Mark Hoffman who I adore so its one I could very easily watch on its own and think that it is very unfairly maligned imo. Right now you are feeling helpess! My goodness that line gives me chills, and the way that they bring it back in a much different context in Saw VI was genius to me!

I’m not at all a fan of rap music but Spiral having rap music on the soundtrack seems like a weird complaint being that all of the other saw movies had metal heavily included within their soundtracks. It seems like Spiral was just trying to do something new, as it’s a spin-off.

Thank you, guys, for the video, I totally love it. Here's my ranking: 10. Spiral - a bad joke, in which I had to skip a few scenes to get rewarded by one of the stupidest plottwists I've ever seen 9. Jigsaw - stupid traps, unsurprising ending, lazy writing 8. Saw X - a drama that realizes after an hour that it should be a horror instead, but again with stupid traps (especially the wire and the mask trap) and with the most anticlimatic ending in the series that really pissed me off (the fate of the main antagonist) :D 7. Saw 4 - confusing editing of the narrative (past vs. present) and I also kept confusing Strahm with Hoffman :D 6. Saw 2 - despite the biggest screentime of Tobin Bell, it is a boring movie with boring side characters, but with brilliant ending 5. Saw 5 - not bad, not terrible, perfect first and last two traps, besides it's just a mediocre whodunnit with some retrospective lore and a good ending 4. Saw 3D - if the creators kept the DOP from the previous films and got rid of all the 3D thing, the film would have been much better, instead it's just a good ending to the series (I ignore the other three movies :D ) that answered a lot of questions and I kinda cared for Bobby and especially his innocent wife. The circle has closed in a solid way to me. 3. Saw 6 - gripping psychomassage combined with physical terrror, the movie is fast paced, has a convincing main character, answers a few questions (especially the letter for Amanda in Saw 3 - that's why I rank it so high :D ) and keeps the tension high throughout the whole duration. 2. Saw 3 - probably the most developed characters in all the series, Angus Macfadyen did a great job, fewer traps than in Saw 2 and sequels was a good idea and the final showdown is amazing. 1. Saw - less is more and this is the case. One of the best movie endings of all time :) Greetings from Czech Republic :)

Super late comment...My defense for Saw IV is that it explains the use of the pig masks. Cecil ended up killing Gideon and it seemed to jumpstart John killing people. The scene going through the street fair, apparently it was the year of the pig in Chinese mythology, which was a cool scene and the knife blade trap as well

Here is the plot leaks for the final 3 Saw films! ... Saw 12! Detective Hoffman escapes the bathroom following the events of Saw 3D using tools hidden behind the bathroom pipes. Hoffman pursues Lawrence Gordon (addressing several unanswered questions from Saw 3D) to discover the 'Cult Of Jigsaw’. Hoffman obtains a list of Jigsaw Survivor Group members from Bobby Dagan and tosses him off a bridge. Hoffman kills Brad and Ryan who helped Lawrence kidnap him in Saw 3D. Hoffman blows up the Jigsaw Survivor Group building with everyone inside. Hoffman vows to find Lawrence. Twist: Lawrence gets the upper hand on Hoffman when Adam is revealed as Amanda’s secret apprentice. It's revealed that Adam was saved by Amanda/Gordon after Saw 1 (the corpse chained in the bathroom is another trap victim). Adam develops a relationship with Amanda similar to Amanda's relationship with John. Adam is the one who has been taking photos throughout the series, and provides information to Amanda in Saw 2 and Saw 3. Amanda messages Adam after receiving the Hoffman blackmail letter in Saw 3. Adam asks Lawrence to help solve the Hoffman problem (after Saw 4), hence why Lawrence sends Hoffman the "I know who you are' letter in Saw 5. Final Scene: Lawrence executes Hoffman in response to the murder of Jill Tuck with Adam delivering the final 'game over'. ... Saw 13! Logan Nelson is targeted by the Cult Of Jigsaw after relocating John’s corpse in Jigsaw (Saw 8). Logan is forced to play a game under threat of having his lies about Detective Halloran exposed. Logan goes to Eleanor for help (as Keith Hunt closes in on Logan) and confesses what he did to Detective Halloran/John’s corpse. Eleanor vows to help Logan stop the Cult Of Jigsaw, however, is killed in a Jigsaw Trap a short time later. Logan, similar to a deceased Hoffman, goes on a rampage (taking out several cult members) before killing Adam and Lawrence (for good). Twist: A dying Lawrence reveals that he has been running games ever since Saw 1, and confirms Logan is not the first apprentice. Lawrence dies as a final game starts. Logan is introduced to the true Cult Leader (a masked figure). Logan fails his final test after lying about John’s corpse and refuses to confess his crimes to the world. Logan kills the masked figure only to discover an innocent Keith Hunt underneath the mask. Twist: Eleanor betrays Logan. It is revealed Eleanor is the Cult Leader who designs/builds traps for the Cult Of Jigsaw. Eleanor is revealed as the first apprentice (hence why she has John's blueprints), and the one keeping a close eye on Logan over the years. It is revealed Lawrence helped Eleanor at the end of Jigsaw (Saw 8) and that Lawrence owns the black vehicle referenced in Spiral (Saw 9). Logan turns to see the entire Cult Of Jigsaw (dozens of pig mask figures recruited by Eleanor) who rush him (similar to the end of Paranormal Activity 4). Final Scene: Logan wakes up in John’s coffin with 'Game Over' spray painted on the lid, and a voice recording (of his confession to Eleanor) playing at his feet. … Spiral 2 (Saw 14)! Zeke pursues the Cult Of Jigsaw after Logan’s body is discovered (Logan leaves a message scratched into the coffin lid + Eleanor’s name). After several warnings, Zeke ends up in a trap, however, is saved by William. William reveals he is being targeted by the Cult Of Jigsaw after he tainted John’s legacy in Spiral (Saw 9). Zeke wants to kill William but can’t because William attaches explosives to both their wrists (if William dies, Zeke dies). William promises to let Zeke go if he helps him track down the remaining cult members (to arrest them). Zeke reluctantly joins forces with William. Zeke and William soon discover that survivors from previous Jigsaw traps (non-cult members) are being executed in inescapable traps (similar to Amanda’s traps in Saw 3) which contradicts the cult's philosophy. Showdown Scene! Eleanor captures Zeke and places William in a trap. William (thinking he will die) disarms the wrist bomb as an apology to Zeke. William confirms he always wanted Zeke as a partner. Zeke escapes and saves William. Eleanor returns to the Cult Of Jigsaw, who gather around the Jigsaw Shrine (John’s body). Eleanor confirms a cop (Zeke) knows who she is, and they need to relocate the Jigsaw Shrine. Unknown enemies seal the room shut and fill it with gas, killing everyone, including Eleanor, who almost escapes. Zeke and William discover there's a Mystery Killer who executed the Cult Of Jigsaw. William tells Zeke he knows who the Mystery Killer is (A woman who goes by the name Legacy). Zeke tells William if he wants forgiveness, he needs to stop Legacy. Zeke and William hunt down Legacy, eliminating her entire team. However, Legacy gets the upper hand. Twist: A disfigured Cecilia reveals herself as the Mystery Killer. Cecilia confirms she escaped the gas chamber from Saw X (with Diego’s help) and murdered Diego. Cecilia confirms she stole her father’s fortune and murdered her father. Cecilia confirms she vowed to destroy John’s legacy by murdering Jigsaw Survivors in inescapable traps (like the one she was left in). Twist: Cecilia thanks William for distracting Zeke. William reveals that he was Cecilia’s associate for years. Williams confirms Cecilia convinced him to murder police in the name of Jigsaw (Cecilia's team helped William build death traps in Spiral/Saw 9 including Marcus Banks' Test and The Subway Test). William confirms he does not work with Cecelia anymore. Cecilia confirms how much she hates loose ends. Cecilia shoots William before strapping a bomb to William and Zeke’s wrist. Cecilia leaves Zeke to die as William bleeds out. Cecilia, having dispatched the Cult Of Jigsaw, and Jigsaw Survivors, walks away from Saw 14 as the sole survivor (similar to Hoffman in Saw 5). Mid-Credit Scene: Cecilia lives in a beautiful mansion. She thanks her deceased father for her fortune, and John for purpose. Cecilia dedicates her life to corrupting John's legacy by placing innocent people in Jigsaw traps. Post-Credit Scene: A mystery intruder appears in Cecilia’s mansion and aims a gun at Cecilia. Cecilia asks, "Who are you?" Final Twist: Fisk (who was fired from his job long ago) shoots Cecilia in the throat having tracked the Jigsaw murders since Saw 1. Fisk has been obsessed with Jigsaw since Detective Steven Sing was killed in Saw 1. Fisk leaves Cecilia alone in a pool of blood and money to end Saw forever.

My ranking would not be same as yours. While I liked the main story line in Saw X, I found traps exceptionally unfair and unwinnable (ripping out chunks of your brain indiscriminately or cutting off a leg is very likely fatal when completed), which tarnishes John's "justice". 1. Saw 2. Saw 3 3. Saw 5 (that reveal at the end where they realize everyone could have survived the whole series of traps is such a mic drop moment) 4. Saw 6 (difficult to choose between this and 5 for third place, call them interchangeable) 5. Saw 2 6. Saw X 7. Saw 4 8. Saw 7 9. Spiral 10. Jigsaw I do actually like all of the Saw movies, including Spiral.

Hey guys, great in depth opinions there. I used to loathe Spiral, but looking at it closely, Im of two minds. What really ruins this film for me, slightly behind Chris Rock's acting and excuse to fire a N-bomb in a film, is Shencks. Now, I like Schenks as a character, besides the dead giveaways you really woundn't suspect him as the killer, I mean by comparison at least, there's the apprentices that couldnt ever put on that "nice guy" persona that well. What bothers me, is the blatant disbelief that Schencks, judging by his stature alone, composed all these elaborate traps, when he was revealed, I got up and yell "BULL! SHIIIIIT!!". But the traps ARE good, and they fit the culprit's "crimes". But, because of Schencks not working, as a villain, I kind of feel Spiral desperately needs a direct sequel. To explain how Schencks built his traps if nothing else. It might happen, but since from what I heard, Spiral did under-perform, but who knows, what do you two think?

the argument against Saw 2 is the same argument you use to boost Saw 5? Saw 5's main trap storyline had nothing to do with Strahm and Hoffman while Saw 2 was integral to Detective Matthews and the criminals he put away and being in the same trap with his own son. Saw 2 deserves to be at the top 4. The top 4 should be any combination between Saw X, Saw 1, Saw 2, and Saw 3. Then the list is: 5. Saw 6 6. Saw 5 7. Saw 4 8. Saw 3D (7) 9. Jigsaw 10. Spiral

I really liked your list. Mine is 2,6,X,1,5,spiral,4,3,Jigsaw,3D. I didn't enjoy as much as the others Jigsaw and 3D. 2 and 6 are my fav ones and prob they will remain at the top of my list forever. I personally think that saw 5 is underrated (it is a very enjoyable movie and has my favorite trap of all the saw movies which is the 10 pints of sacrifice). Love how much respect you guys gave saw 3 here! Feel like it goes underrated a lot of the time. It was the first one I ever watched when I was 12 and that was the worst nights sleep I ever had 😂 not knowing what was gonna be around the next corner for Jeff was so scary to me. The pig mask kidnappings gave me genuine fear. And the scuffed brain surgery! I will never forget how disturbing that was for me! Amanda feeling so erratic and unpredictable was fantastic. Her and John’s screen time together making you realise that these are not super villains but flawed and vulnerable individuals is what makes saw unique. I love how saw X gave us more on Amanda’s arc with Cecilia’s actions really making her think that some people just don’t deserve a chance at survival. Totally justifying where she ended up emotionally in saw 3. Great list guys, keep up the good work! 🪚🩸

What makes spiral so bad imo is the wasted potential. The premise is good! Theres a good movie in there but the reveal of the killer is soooo anti climactic and the protagonist is hard to pin down who he really is. A shame really, it could have been good.

Yeeeaaahhh I’m that spiral defender. One of my biggest bonuses for this movie is that it at least tried something new. It’s not the greatest but probably 7-6 for me. Biggest problem with spiral for me was the twist. I can agree it’s definitely the worst for me. I’ll defend Rock because the final scene with him and shanks felt really human. The traps are awesome imo. I think spiral does good in opening the book of saw, with potential for further sequels. I just love the idea of copy cat killers terrorizing the world after Kramer dies. Overall, spiral is not even 5, but I think spiral gets way to much hate.

I give spiral some credit for trying to actually reboot the series. Jigsaw seemed like it was going to be a bit of a reboot with the jigsaw fan club but then they went back to the stupid this guy was working with Jigsaw the whole time bullshit that was already a tired twist in Saw 3D. That’s why jigsaw is the worst one for me, the twist is one that’s been done multiple times and was done better in previous movies. And I agree that Rock’s performance at the end is great, it’s really emotional and believable, just wish he could have brought more of that in the rest of the movie. I think spiral has a way better traps than Jigsaw. Jigsaw’s traps are pretty forgettable except for the blender trap and the laser collar. Spiral isn’t great but it’s like number 6 for me. I haven’t seen Saw X yet so that ranking might change.

Saw II I think you guys are the only ones I’ve ever seen defend Jeff in Saw 3. Personally he does grate on me a bit, it’s nothing to do with the actor, he sells it and I do understand his anger but little things he does like scolding his daughter for taking her brother’s toy just rub me the wrong way. And having him be the one to finish off John feels a bit underwhelming. That could be because from my understanding the original plot to Saw 3 would have involved Dr. Gordon’s family being kidnapped again and he would’ve had to play a game to save them and it would have resulted in him killing John and ending the series as a trilogy. That would have been a much better fate for Dr. Gordon and would have brought the films full circle.

And the twist is not very good. Strahm is cool, but I hated how he went out. I saw every film at midnight as they came out. Saw 5 was the one we left the theater just devastated and depressed.

I understand why Saw 3D is in 8th place, but I like the movie... I agree, the low budget, forced 3D bs was ridiculous. And I do think showing that Lawrence survived in the beginning was a waste. It would have been more of an interesting twist if they didn't do that. If they redid the film without the 3D, the pink blood, the ridiculous acting, etc., I feel like it could have been so much better. The plot had SO much potential, but it was just shit on... I love Dr. Gordon, I love that he was made an apprentice, there is clearly a lot they could do with this. I still think 4 is better than 6 imo.

My ranking: 10. Saw 3D. Personally, I find it awful. It feels like a tasteless parody or a cynical, soulless cash grab. 9. Spiral. I agree with everything you both said about this film, except for one detail: I actually like the weird artificial voice the Jigsaw copycat uses. It's creepy and uncanny, and fits perfectly well the horror of the traps. 8. Saw IV 7. Saw V 6. Saw VI 5. Jigsaw. I guess that I like this one more than most Saw fans 🤷‍♂. In a sense, Jigsaw is a more accessible and "light" entry in the franchise, which makes its rewatch value quite high if you ask me. It's fun and entertaining. The barn setting and atmosphere are very cool. The "Here's your key to freedom" scene is particularly memorable. 4. Saw X. Refreshing, exciting, solid and remarkable Saw movie. It puts me right back in the spirit of the mid 2000's when I was just discovering the franchise! For me, in terms of quality, Saw X is totally comparable to the Original Saw Trilogy. I've only seen it once, and I feel that it may definitely go higher in my rankings on future viewings (though I don't see it beating my #1). 3. Saw II 2. Saw 1. Saw III. For me, it's the most powerful, multi-layered and profound entry in the franchise. I have a deep emotional connection with this one. It's extremely effective. A great Horror film and a great Tragedy, with an epic, devastating and mind-blowing (pun intended 🤯😉) ending.

My ranking: Saw X > Saw 1 > Saw 2 > Saw 3 > Saw 5 > Spiral > Saw 4 > Saw 7 > saw 6 > jigsaw Saw X in my opinion is by far the most thrilling, cinematic, complex film. And the characters are so good. I love how they developed John and Amanda character and showed us why we Amanda was so protective over John. Spiral is ranked too low and get too much hate in my opinion I feel like it was something different, remind me of s7evn. Chris rock brought versatility, I feel like if a sequel was made for it they could learn from its mistakes and build from the first film. I feel like spiral was for character development. Saw 2… you guys had me shocked ranking it so low but I understand your guys pov😭😭 it’s definitely a top 3 saw film, this one kept you on the edge of your seat, Eric matthews vs John Kramer was fun, Daniel Matthew became one of the fan favs and made you sympathize with him, and the reveal at end was nuts. Ps. I love your guys content!❤

My only defense of Spiral is William Schenk. John Kramer was always the best part of the original run, but I was never on his side. I never found myself rooting for him. Schenk had an easily understandable motivation. Corrupt cops killed his dad, so he targeted corrupt cops. He even tried to recruit Banks to because he thought he was the only other person on the inside who could possibly understand. Once it all came together, I'll admit I took his side.

Finally… my updated ranking. I finally watched Saw X a second time, and I have moved it around. For starters… I love every film in the series other than Saw 7. 10. Saw VII 9. Spiral Spiral was in 9th mainly because it’s still a good film on its own, just not a good Saw film to me. In fact, to me Spiral would have been better as a Seven remake. The top eight I enjoy a lot, especially on rewatches. 8. Saw 7. Saw III 6. Jigsaw Saw 1 only was placed lower because a lot of the things I love about the series either started or was refined in Saw 2 on. Saw 1 is still a classic, I just find more entertainment in several of the sequels. As for why I have Jigsaw in the middle, it gets points for acting as a palette cleanser after Saws 1-7 (and also Saw X added into those), similar to why I enjoy Jason Goes to Hell. Plus, it added Eleanor, who is one of the most interesting characters, I only wish sequels had been made to make her more complex or potentially be the next Amanda, the John Kramer scenes, though only few, were fun, and the final trap is satisfying seeing a POS like Halloran get what was coming to him. Saw 3 has gotten better with every rewatch, but I still find Jigsaw a bit overall more entertaining. The top five are the ones that I grin from start to finish, and at that point it’s down to entertainment level, rewatchability, and the influence of my favorite Saw character, Mark Hoffman, also known as The Hoffinator. 5. Saw II 4. Saw IV 3. Saw X 2. Saw VI 1. Saw V I to this day really love the second trilogy for how much bigger it makes the overall story, Saws 4 and 6 have my favorite endings of the series. Saw 5 is primarily Hoffman’s origins and contains the awesome chess match with Strahm, so it narrowly gets the top spot. Thank you for speaking positively about Saw 5 and not punishing it so much like a lot of fans do. In fact, now you have seen someone else who put Saw 5 high. As for Saw X, what puts it so high is making John the protagonist (also, Cecilia Pederson was a great foe for him), where I genuinely felt for him and the end was moving, especially his reaction to the kid’s bravery. Then that mid-credits scene got me hyped for more of Hoffman. I’m feeling optimistic about the future of this series thanks to Saw X, and if the rumor that one plan for a future film is a focus on Hoffman (maybe like Saw X, but now it’s on him, or it’s Cecilia vs Hoffman)… I’d say that’s Prime! P. S. I agree, the Bobby Dagen part was the WORST part of Saw 7. Hoffman vs Jill was actually entertaining, and the Gordon scenes were cool, just not executed well. And yes, I refuse to call that film anything other than Saw 7. The 3d was dumb and calling it “The Final Chapter” is an insult to Friday the 13th.

I always found Saw 2 disappointing. It began as a spec script by the director about a deadly toxin being pumped into the house, and then Leigh Whannel tweaked the script and fleshed out the start and finish to make it a Saw sequel. It just doesn't have genuine Saw vibe if paying close attention and scrutinizing it (until the end ). But there's NO reason for Amanda to be there unless she was in on it because she'd already been tested in Saw 1. To me, Saw X is a better 2nd installment. Faves of mine are 1, 3, and 6 along with the new one X
