The thing with Easton is that he's NOT just doing his job. He has a special team that looks for technicalities to cancel policies without paying. They don't catch these on the front end, and refuse to take their premiums for years. They look specifically for things they can use when a large claim is made. That's not a normal practice in insurance. They might deny certain treatments or make you fight to prove they are necessary, but they're not systematically trying to screw people out of their policies every time one gets really sick. The carousel trap said 2/3 of claims were denied at his company. Normally the industry averages 10-20% depending on the company, and most of those are because they make a judgement about the claim- it's brought on by an undisclosed preexisting condition, they policy doesn't cover that condition, the case doesn't qualify as critical yet, etc., and not because they found an error on their application from 20 years prior. He's legitimately a POS even by insurance industry standards.

One thing I’m anticipating is that the storylines of these new set of films is that they’ll have an excuse to amend or try to redo some elements or plots that didn’t really pan out in the original 7 films, or could have been developed into something more intriguing and believable. I was a staunch opposer to the plot of Amanda going rogue and then what felt like a cheap amendment to have her be manipulated by Hoffman to I guess gain sympathy for her character after she just acted so frustratingly in Saw III. Probably one of my favorite aspects of Saw X is that they give such nuance to Amanda’s possible reasoning behind starting to lose faith in the traps and going against Jigsaw. I completely bought the sympathy she had for Gabriella for the similar struggles of addiction they faced, and it makes a world of sense to me to see her decide that she was just going to ruin it for most everyone after Gabriella’s murder. I truly believe part of what guaranteed the involvement of the actress who played Cecelia in Saw X was that she wouldn’t die/be killed off in that film. That’s just a hunch of mine because some actors and their agents do have agreements where they will refuse things either for an entire franchise they’re involved in or for at least the initial film. Still just a hunch, but I just think there was something odd and slightly off about how Cecelia really sidestepped any real cruelty or pain or suffering or learning throughout the whole film. This either means she’ll have her true comeuppance in Saw XI, or they’ll continue having her evade death, not unlike how Hoffman was was able to really avoid anything concrete happening to him, even though he did endure greater gore. It could be very likely that even if there isn’t any agreement in place to save Cecelia, the writers still want her to either get away or face maybe a legal fate of imprisonment as an alternative to offing her outright. Could also be like a Se7en thing where they give her an out of admitting her wrongdoing and getting legal repercussions for it, or she could off herself. To me, this would also be a spiritual amendment to the ending of Jigsaw, where the intention to expose corruption and criminal behavior was implied, but never really fully realized, which could be explored in depth in these new films. I also found the cop plots to be interesting and a neat departure or contrast to the direct gore. It’s interesting to note that one of the Saw films is listed partly as a crime drama, and that would be something pretty solid to see. Saw X did feel like at times they had no idea how the film would be received and no guarantee that another would be made, so they briefly explored some things in Saw X that people were curious about like a series of what ifs. For instance, John’s attachment to someone who was a friend like the boy who played soccer who was used in the trap with John. I think people long wanted to see what would happen when it really hurt Jigsaw specifically by his own hand, and someone escaping their trap to taunt or torture John Kramer seemed long long loooooong overdue. I also agree with some kind of flash forward to show or explain what happened with Hoffman would be great. Even Better Call Saul, at the beginning of most of its seasons, decided not to make the audience wait to see some immediate followup in the Breaking Bad timeline instead of just making the whole thing a prequel. I think I myself would be interested in a flashback that shows the bathroom being in its fully functional and new state. It’s got a strange configuration to begin with, but it would be interesting to see how Jigsaw knows about this, like was it a bathroom he built? Did he work for a company that had this bathroom in the area? Might seem like a lot, but the bathroom is a prominent location in the first film and scene throughout the franchise. Maybe they wouldn’t demystify it fully because the dilapidated nature really works best when there’s no history behind the strange bathroom. I would have LOVED to see Leigh Whannell writing again and/or James Wan’s involvement in the new films, because so much of what the franchise is is built upon what was cinematically and thematically founded and then expanded upon from the first film. I suppose it’s probably the least likely thing next to expecting to see Cary Elwes’ involvement again soon or at all, but I’m glad to hear it seems like they’ve got returning crew from some of the better Saw films to be able to make their mark that will bring back some consistency to the series at its greatest cinematic points, hopefully without seeming repetitive or uninspired. You can tell they had a lot of fun making the newest Saw film (X) and although some aspects of the film left me more confused and not really buying what happened, it feels like they found their footing in a way they haven’t been able to in years. Saw VI was the last great Saw film for years and even 3D had some glaring issues beyond the writing that just make it seem like it was done as made for TV film with how strange it felt altogether.

Can I ask what has the both of you convinced that Zepp would have been able to get the antidote from a hospital? The end of first Saw film pretty much goes on to say that ONLY Jigsaw would have had the antidote and that Zepp HAD to rely on and follow his instructions in order to be saved. Now, if the argument is that it’s unrealistic to think that medical professionals wouldn’t have been able to cure him and give him the right antidote, then I suppose that’s completely valid. However, it’s been recognized that a number of elements, even within just the first film, are written with the intention for the audience to suspend maybe too much disbelief and buy into the plot no matter what. For instance, Adam’s electric shock causing him to throw the gun, just to get it out of his reach, is something that people said wouldn’t happen because a shock would cause muscles to contract/he would have held onto the gun. Seen something interesting before too where a guy was talking about his parent seeing the first movie and how he had enough knowledge to know the condition or the material of the pipes and that they would have been something that could be broken, I think with the toilet tank lid. Out of all the things I’ve wondered about the series, like why would anyone ever shackle Adam to begin with if he was just meant to unlock himself with a key already given to him, I think the first film makes it pretty straightforward that Zepp was at the mercy of John Kramer and that he wouldn’t have found help for curing himself at a hospital. However, it is interesting that you mention he still might have had the option to say something to the police, but I just think Zepp probably was thinking that would screw himself over because it could likely just anger Jigsaw, and imprisonment/being stopped wouldn’t have guaranteed Kramer to administer the antidote. Again, this is assuming the writers meant to imply that only he could have cured Zepp. There was a very interesting real life story of a man in the early 2000s who did the dirty work of robbing a bank while wearing a collar that was meant to explode unless the man did as he was instructed. There’s a lot of debate and a convoluted story as to how much the man was in on the planned robbery. According to those who believe he was in on it beginning to end, the man supposedly believed the collar to just be a fake for show, to convince others who saw him wear it that it was real and would go off unless he did what he was set out to do. Some like his family suggest he was roped into it and didn’t have a say and was really forced to act against his will, and the collar did eventually detonate after he was apprehended by the police. Now, an exploding neck collar is probably much more immediate a threat as it could be detonated at any moment for noncompliance, but I still think Zepp was under pressure to do what he was told, even if he had more time to weigh his actions. Thinking it’s either you listen to someone who has threatened your life, or you lose it seems convincing enough to me anyway that he would have just tried to keep Jigsaw appeased and not anger him by trying to betray him. Seems like it would be the greater risk to disobey Jigsaw if he really thought he was the only one who could save it. Even if it wasn’t true and medical professionals could have helped, that dire situation or the belief that it’s all real can be enough to make you act irrationally to try and save yourself. It’s hard to really assess these films for dumb decisions through and through, because I think they were often written, sometimes inadvertently, to exclude realistic outcomes, but not always. It’s probably realistic, for instance, that certain decisions like Dr. Gordon not using the box to reach for the phone was realistic because he was in an extremely panicked state and thought his family was done for, so he wasn’t thinking clearly and people generally would excuse that decision as not being dumb because he might have been unable to be rational in that situation. Under stressful decisions, you generally might not think straight all the time, but the series has also been criticized for things like the longevity some characters had when it’s been discussed that many likely would have died or passed out and failed their test that way from the pure shock of how gruesome their solutions were or the situations they were in. I still find the series very entertaining and it’s great to see another pair of enthusiasts go on commenting what they enjoy and didn’t enjoy. This channel is already booming and the Saw XI stuff you guys release when the movie comes out will be nuts!!!

Amanda already looks older before Saw II. What if they add more time slots between films, and Carlos grew up into the guy William Easton had to kill? The "blip on the radar" as Jigsaw said.

Having a baby after your first premonition was suppose to be the one way to cheat death. Although, Bludworth didn't literally confirm this. Saying "Only new life can defeat Death", could mean something else. The franchise has always held a bleak yet fascinating take on death. Always giving hope, only to reveal it was just another part of Death's plan. Hopefully they can nail that raw emotion and tone as they've done in the past, while building the lore and giving us something new. I get a feeling that everything is going to be connected, though!

i definitely hope the entire movie is about cecilia working towards her redemption, like william easton did in saw 6. i also like the idea of cecilia actually surviving at the end, and being just so mangled that her living on is a worse fate than dying. or... amanda kills hers even though she did win the traps. lastly, i really hope the traps in saw 11 will not be grandiose and complicated. in my opinion, all the best traps are somewhat simple (except maybe the rack). like, i'd never be able to build them, but i could see a really inspired engineer could. bro, a fucking radiation trap? no thanks. cutting your leg with a gigli saw though? yes please more

My personal favorite has to be the horsepower trap 1. Chester benningtons acting was VERY GOOD AND CHILLING in it 2. I like it how it has multiple people 3. I like it how gory it is and it’s very interesting 4. The scene made my gut wrench and it’s basically tell me it’s pretty goood

I guessed Obi’s trap, jigsaw gave him a huge hint that was very obvious from the tape, if he assessed the situation and inside of the incinerator he would have seen the dual jigsaw was talking about. But he doesn’t and goes in anyways but I still think he had ample time to twist the dial before he burnt up.

i started watching Saw X and had a good time and them the wire saw trap happened and i had to blindly close the movie because i was literally heaving. that struck something for me for sure. but also, venus fly trap is impossible. unless your eye is already non-functional and your reflexes are down but in truth I am dying in every single one of these, and for the pints of blood I'd tell the other person to kill me first and then drain me. Not about any of this stuff I do not care about my life this much.

I actually liked the plot of Jigsaw better than Spiral. The reveal of Logan being the one who made the mistake of switching John's X-Rays may have been one of the pivotal moments that shaped the whole franchise which everyone seems to have forgotten. No one even mentioned it in the movie. I would love to see Gordon and John have a conversation much like the scene with him, Hoffman and Amanda. I can definitely see a teachable moment for Logan, him being a student of medicine (he ended up becoming a coroner), where he and Gordon meet or interact which I think would add a lot to the story AND may put some future plot points in motion in regards to the new generation of Saw Disciples. After all, Logan does "speak for the dead". And honestly, who can say that isn't freaking EPIC?!

Paul Leahy was when I was done with Jigsaw's stupid morals already. "Paul you are a perfectly healthy, sane, middle class male" Look here jiggy the guy took a razor to his arm I think we cannot feasibly call him healthy or sane. (saying that as someone who's been there, done that) Can you please just leave the guy a check for a therapist? Also, about Mark who called in sick... isn't the guy literally appreciating his life? Also, I would like to see Detective Tapp, Eric Matthews, Riggs, & kerry be in the Saw 11. I think this would be epic and be great to see. Saw 12 should be the end of the franchise as hoffmans Demise.

I have to disagree with William Easton. Sure, that's how it is in the real world. But Will's "policy" denied coverage for the most tricial and contrived reasons. Also, both he and his "dog pit" make a game of looking for loopholes in his policy to deny desperate and needy people.

I think Amanda feeling bad for Gabriella was definitely implied in the movie. Seeing as Amanda was a drug addict in the first movie prior to John “saving” her I think she just sees herself in Gabriella and hopes that she can “redeem” herself just as she did.

I agree that the ice room trap is one of the weaker ones, but I might have a hot take that the nudity is significant in the trap. Obvs they couldve had the same effect if she was wearing just underwear, since the skin exposure to freezing water can still happen that way, but I digress. I think theres a difference in horror where nudity is done “just to have some boobs on screen” and where it’s done matter-of-factly. I think where Saw goes wrong with this is in Saw 3D with the pain train (great concept, but why is Gill glammed up for the scene lol??). However, in this case with the ice room, I think there’s nothing sexual in the way it’s been presented - shes nude for maximum effect and pain felt from having direct contact with ice water. For a franchise that gets such a bad rep when being associated with the “torture porn” genre from people who don’t really know the films or the genre that much (as people assume from just hearing the the word “porn”, that the films are just people being tortured being displayed for free for the viewer’s pleasure - I speak as someone who’s recently been pulled out of this mindset after falling in love with these films), the films do an amazing job of “de-sexualising” (for lack of a better word) the gore and body horror. Granted, there’s no real gore or body horror in this scene, apart from Jeff tearing his cheek, but I still find myself wincing at the pain she must feel, as opposed to “Oh, there’s boobs, what’s the point?” ya kno? Hope this makes sense to someone lmaoooo
