Number 10: The Razor Box... In Addison's defence, she is beginning to suffer from the nerve gas, so she is not thinking straight, and I dont believe that was supposed to be her trap!

the funniest thing about john falling for the scam is that since amanda and hoffman are his apprentices, that means that dr gordon is also already his apprentice. did he not mention this at all to his own apprentice whose a literal oncologist???

I am surprised the numbers on the back of everyone’s necks in Saw 2 wasn’t mentioned in this list at all. I forgot his name but towards the end he started going crazy and killing people, even to the extend of cutting his own skin off to get his number… when all he had to do was “guys the numbers are on the back of our necks will get us out, lets all look at our numbers and figure out the combination so we can all survive”

Out of fairness for John, while stupid, he was extremely desperate so yeah.. desperation made his logic go out the window. But as for Bobby lying, when he got warned by John, he should have backpedaled and explained to John that it was desperation for money, so “maybe” John would have backed off but still…very stupid when the killer was still loose to lie on it

Jill Tuck had every reason to think Hoffman would die in the reverse bear trap. Strange that John told her to do that, though! I would’ve at least waited with a gun, in the room with Hoffman, and shot him. And maybe John didn’t but I love Jill!

In special features for SAW II they mentioned how if Addison had of walked a few more steps around the box she would of noticed the key hanging up behind it. (If you pay attention you can see it at the top of the frame)

Pretty sure that the razor box trap was meant for Gus… maybe that’s why Addison threw the tape away, while also being severely affected by the nerve gas. Regardless she still should’ve played that tape😭

My guess for #1 is Rigg bursting through the door in Saw IV Edit: dammit

I disagree about the dumbest decision. John was desperate and all the con story created (including people faking to work in a hospital, a website that seemed to be honest and a REAL doctor) was very well performed by those criminals. I'd say 99,9% of people would fail and bite this bait.

A dumb decision by Angie from Spiral - when she went down to the basement and saw pig man there. Instead of shooting him/cuffing him immediately, she runs to take cover! Giving pig man time to throw the tear gas and capture her. As a police captain she should've been much smarter than that.

#1 is Lynn not telling Jeff that the collar is hooked up to Jigsaw's heart monitor

I remember seeing a theory that Zepp wasn't even poisoned. The theory (paraphrasing here) goes that because he was someone who was malicious and never attempted to fulfill his goals in life/was envious of those who were successful, John would test him to see if he could break his instincts and do the opposite of the test and actually help those he "hated" and get motivated to actually help people in life or death scenarios. Considering that John is a civil/mechanical engineer and not a chemist who would be knowledgeable enough to make a slow acting mystery poison, I wouldn't be surprised if it were true.

Addison gets way too much hate. She was badly affected by the nerve gas to the point where she was staggering around inchoreant. She probably barely knew her own name at that point.

I knew the razor box was gonna be on here and i normally try and give Addison the benefit of the doubt because of the gas in her system and not thinking clearly.... but i completely forgot that she sees the tape and throws it away XD no longer defending her

Tbf about Zepp, if he went to an hospital for a cure, he would have died while waiting for his turn.

#1 is the dude not going home despite jigsaw "hinting" (literally telling him the solution) at it like 6 times.

I actually talked about this in one of my videos but that soooo just clicked for me.. going way back and it seeming like the insurance people did John dirty but not helping him with the treatment out of the country.. the insurance people actually didnt screw over John. He was denied because this source wasnt reliable to be covered.. this really blew my mind and it kinda changes soooo much of Johns backstory of him being a victim of insurance fraud. Thats so crazy 😱😦

I personally don’t think #7 is very fair…… you’ve called previous decisions dumb for not listening to jigsaw and doing exactly what he says, but then calls this one dumb for doing exactly that. How was he supposed to know that he may or may not have been watched, and know he could cheat the system and use the hooks elsewhere? We’ve all seen what happens to people who don’t play by the rules, so in this instance, he gave his trap a fighting chance in the only way he knew he could, which was, as far as he was aware, his safest option.

I honestly like that the 'razor box' trap was meant for Gus because the only character trait we see of him is that he's recklessly impulsive by looking through the peephole and that trap is seemingly about not rushing forward. We don't hear the tape but the fact that we can see the key makes it seem that the whole test was to listen carefully and not just recklessly jump right into the situation. Interesting, no? Good writing.

Forgot which Saw (3 or 4?) it was but the one where the old man stood in the line of sight of the shotgun trap. Wasn't a wise decision to stand there and the other guy that tried to retrieve the key inside of the shotgun box should've also checked if the old man was standing there or at the very least, let him know he's about to put his arm in the box.

I agree John going to Mexico was stupid however I do believe John put William in a test because he was playing God deciding who lives and dies not because he didn't want to cover John's treatment.

My problem with the logic behind the Zepp entry is that unless doctors know what the origin of the poison was, it's near impossible for them to identify the correct antidote to use. Also, going to the police would've tipped Jigsaw off since Hoffman was still a mole in the department (it doesn't matter if Zepp knew or not). Morally, yes he made the wrong decision but in my opinion the right one for his survival.

As much as I like the SWAT Commander Rigg he didn't listen too well like Strahm. 1st trap the tape clearly said to walk away and don't try to save Brenda. Did it anyway almost got a early death. The second and third test I'll give him a pass as we all know a lot of people did not like what the hotel manager was doing to them women. But right before his final test he was told to go home and remember who he was saving and he just question what does it mean? Everything came back full circle after not learning anything from barging in the unsecured door at Kerrys crime scene. Eric yelled not to open the door and instead of saving Eric inadvertently Rigg got him killed. All this could have been avoided if he had just left with his wife Tracy.

I must also defend Addison. Just like everyone else Im going to say the nerve gas affected her judgement, although my real reason for defending her is she's pretty and I have a crush on her.

Everything Jeff did was my guess. Also, f*ck William Easton - the guy literally turned down someone on a legit medical treatment since he had a dental surgery once (it's literally why he gets melted from the inside by the guy's son at the end of the movie). Anyone in as desperate a situation as John was will likely hear about that from the other guy's family and try to get the scam treatment thinking it's likely actually a legit treatment. I'm not saying that to make John sound smarter - I'm saying that as someone who's known people who have had the "we're not covering X because of a previously existing condition" pulled on them. If anything, that excuse makes you more likely to think the alternate treatment is probably legit.

I'm about to start watching but I hope one is scamming John Kramer. Side note I always wanted to hear the missing Saw 2 tapes as well as the missing traps in Saw 2. Jigsaw lied about Amanda's cell mate being dead in Saw 1.

It's around movie 3 or 4 I think when everyone in traps (they always talk about Jigsaw in the group trap each movie centers around etc) knows who Jigsaw is and his MO etc. So I'd add literally everyone who doesn't listen to what he says or breaks the rules. They KNOW they just have to do two things to survive: 1) Play by the rules and 2) LISTEN CAREFULLY

#1 should’ve been (forget his name) not talking to John. Literally easiest trap ever, just talk to the man.

#7 - Ummm… you guys kind of crap on Peter in #8 for not listening but here, Bobby actually DOES listen to his instructions and you guys crap on him for that? His actual dumbest decision was making up that kind of trap in the first place. He should’ve made up an easier one. #5 - Hoffman actually doesn’t come out on top. He does against Jill but not in the long run.

The first five minutes of this is ragging on people for not following the tape but when it's Bobby he could have done anything but follow the tape haha

Can I ask what has the both of you convinced that Zepp would have been able to get the antidote from a hospital? The end of first Saw film pretty much goes on to say that ONLY Jigsaw would have had the antidote and that Zepp HAD to rely on and follow his instructions in order to be saved. Now, if the argument is that it’s unrealistic to think that medical professionals wouldn’t have been able to cure him and give him the right antidote, then I suppose that’s completely valid. However, it’s been recognized that a number of elements, even within just the first film, are written with the intention for the audience to suspend maybe too much disbelief and buy into the plot no matter what. For instance, Adam’s electric shock causing him to throw the gun, just to get it out of his reach, is something that people said wouldn’t happen because a shock would cause muscles to contract/he would have held onto the gun. Seen something interesting before too where a guy was talking about his parent seeing the first movie and how he had enough knowledge to know the condition or the material of the pipes and that they would have been something that could be broken, I think with the toilet tank lid. Out of all the things I’ve wondered about the series, like why would anyone ever shackle Adam to begin with if he was just meant to unlock himself with a key already given to him, I think the first film makes it pretty straightforward that Zepp was at the mercy of John Kramer and that he wouldn’t have found help for curing himself at a hospital. However, it is interesting that you mention he still might have had the option to say something to the police, but I just think Zepp probably was thinking that would screw himself over because it could likely just anger Jigsaw, and imprisonment/being stopped wouldn’t have guaranteed Kramer to administer the antidote. Again, this is assuming the writers meant to imply that only he could have cured Zepp. There was a very interesting real life story of a man in the early 2000s who did the dirty work of robbing a bank while wearing a collar that was meant to explode unless the man did as he was instructed. There’s a lot of debate and a convoluted story as to how much the man was in on the planned robbery. According to those who believe he was in on it beginning to end, the man supposedly believed the collar to just be a fake for show, to convince others who saw him wear it that it was real and would go off unless he did what he was set out to do. Some like his family suggest he was roped into it and didn’t have a say and was really forced to act against his will, and the collar did eventually detonate after he was apprehended by the police. Now, an exploding neck collar is probably much more immediate a threat as it could be detonated at any moment for noncompliance, but I still think Zepp was under pressure to do what he was told, even if he had more time to weigh his actions. Thinking it’s either you listen to someone who has threatened your life, or you lose it seems convincing enough to me anyway that he would have just tried to keep Jigsaw appeased and not anger him by trying to betray him. Seems like it would be the greater risk to disobey Jigsaw if he really thought he was the only one who could save it. Even if it wasn’t true and medical professionals could have helped, that dire situation or the belief that it’s all real can be enough to make you act irrationally to try and save yourself. It’s hard to really assess these films for dumb decisions through and through, because I think they were often written, sometimes inadvertently, to exclude realistic outcomes, but not always. It’s probably realistic, for instance, that certain decisions like Dr. Gordon not using the box to reach for the phone was realistic because he was in an extremely panicked state and thought his family was done for, so he wasn’t thinking clearly and people generally would excuse that decision as not being dumb because he might have been unable to be rational in that situation. Under stressful decisions, you generally might not think straight all the time, but the series has also been criticized for things like the longevity some characters had when it’s been discussed that many likely would have died or passed out and failed their test that way from the pure shock of how gruesome their solutions were or the situations they were in. I still find the series very entertaining and it’s great to see another pair of enthusiasts go on commenting what they enjoy and didn’t enjoy. This channel is already booming and the Saw XI stuff you guys release when the movie comes out will be nuts!!!

Mark hoffman coming after Jill tuck. (Yes i know he was getting revenge for jill coming after him but she was doing what jigsaw was asking of her) But if he just walked away after surviving the reverse bear trap then he would have made sure he was not captured

I'm sorry, I know that scams are genuinely hard to avoid when you 1) have brain cancer 2) are mentally ill 3) have nothing left to lose 4) have even a glimmer of hope idk bro, especially because the scammers father WAS a real surgeon, it kinda made things hard to tell. The only reason I can think of for Allison throwing the envelope is that it wasn't her trap. Due to her stupidity and the gas, she probably thought she didn't need it. Btw, I am not saying that it justified her actions, but more why she did it in the first place. Nevertheless, it still contained instructions. That’s the problem with just about everyone in the house trap. They never stopped to take in what John was telling them.

I was thinking about how Jill chose to try to kill Hoffman instead of testing him was a dumb decision. It may not be dumb enough to make it to this list but it still caused the death of the police department and herself for not following the will.

I haven’t watched the movies but know them a bit and my guess was that the father of the son wasn’t waiting but the son was already there

Killing Detective Tapp and Sing at the beginning of the franchise when they could've developed Tapp's backstory further and put him in his own trap was a mistake. Also, it's underutilizing two great acting talents, Danny Glover and Ken Leung. However, perhaps they didn't know how huge the Saw franchise was going to be at the time.

John going to Mexico I would excuse it as he probably is annoyed at having gone through many treatments and just wants to try to see if he will finally find a solution

I give Alyson a pass… she was definitely not in the right frame of mind… the poison and the overall stressful nature of the situation Peter gets a pass too bc he heard Hoffman coming into the room and why trust Hoffman when Hoffman had already “tested” (killed) Seth Baxter I give Bobby a pass too… in the moment his only focus was trying to save his wife… he wasnt tying to risk her life by using some trickery to complete his test I don’t necessarily think John’s decision was dumb… he was a dead man walking so he didn’t have much to lose. And keep in mind there was a person who he believed had been cured by the procedure.

I do feel bad for Addison because the toxic gas was in the room and it was probably getting into her system so she couldn’t think right. Still stupid decision tho, I just feel bad for her.

regarding the scam, i can think of 1 good thing that came from it... other people wont get scammed now, so people can thank John for that.

In saw 2 everybody got effected by the nerve gas so they do stupid stuff like going in a furnace or not looking at the tape
