Only about halfway through the video, but I appreciate how clear you are about things being “according to your tastes,” as well as when things are just objectively an improvement. Makes for an enjoyable watch!
I love all 3 of them, so there's no shade being thrown at DKC3. I think DKC2 really captured this weird bittersweet atmosphere that was wholly unique for platformers at the time, combined with Diddy being more enjoyable to play as than Kiddy, for me at least.
Sorry bro i won't disagree with you today because i literally lost my direction after playing the XVI Demo i don't even know what's up or what's down anymore to be arguing directions with anyone (hope you liked it as well)
It seems that we don’t really see eye to eye on visuals. I love Naruto art style (specifically Part 2) and I think that the spritework for FFIV over world sprites just look terrible and have aged terribly. Although it’s so refreshing to see someone actually say that FFVII looks good, because I’m sick of people saying “it’s aged poorly” despite aging better than FFIV. Although I would’ve probably preferred the sprites to be closer to the character designs. Also my favorite is probably FFVI, but I haven’t actually played the game.
FFVI sprites look great in isolation, but when paired with the backgrounds it's not as pleasant as one might think. I prefer the contrast offered in IV's visuals, but that's just me. I like some of the art in Naruto, but I think I might even prefer part 2 less than part 1 in some ways. I know, I'm weird.
@@gregtroyan yeah that makes complete sense. It’s just whenever I see FFIV sprites I always think it’s a kid playing make believe with his friends, and it takes me out of the story so much. The PSP version does remedy this, but the original sprites I hate with a passion. Yeah color is very important, so I can totally see why it bothers you in FFVI. Also for Naruto I only saw the first part for anime, and read the entire manga, so I haven’t seen Shippuden, but from what I’ve seen, it looks amazing, although that’s probably because I’ve basically only seen the Obito vs Kakashi fight and the final Naruto vs Sasuke fight, which are considered some of the best anime fights ever. So I can only really speak on some parts of it.
@@thomasffrench3639 I think the animation is better in part 2, I like the designs better (for most characters) in part 1. Naruto looks better in part 2. Not a fan of the PSP art for FFIV. My favorite art style for the game is the original, but the CG intro for the 3D version is the best looking versions of the characters.
@@gregtroyan refreshing to see someone go against the grain of Final Fantasy fans when they have the “wrong opinion” but some of your takes are wild. Like people saying that FFVII looks bad, the pixel remasters should just look like FFIV PSP, and FFVI has the best story/is better than FFVII are takes I’m sick of seeing, but then you say stuff like FFIV looks better than FFVI, and I’m like “what?” It’s refreshing and really fun to see.
@@thomasffrench3639 In isolation, VI definitely looks better than IV if you're just looking at character sprites, but add in the usage of color and (in my opinion) better character designs, I prefer IV. But both look great and it's personal preference for me.
Not sure why 7 is so high, when 6 is conceptually better. 8, 13, and 10 definitely should be higher in the list. FF3 pixel remastered is pretty dope, especially the enemy model. FF14 would top the list if it's only abt the cgi
Agreed. Lots of issues with VIII. In some ways it's style over substance (great art design, great music, weaker plot) but the elements that are great in VIII are really, really great.
Interesting list but when it comes to FF IV I personally find it really jarring. It either looks really drab or overly saturated/washed out with its color usage. Also, is it just me but with FF X do Tidus, Wakka, and Yuna look significantly more Asian in the cutscenes but more western looking in the in-game graphics? It weirds me out.
Different teams working on the in-game models vs cutscenes. I always thought they looked to be of east-Asian descent in all of their models, but some facial features are a little different between the two.
