Mortar is 100% accepting. If you put a Hog Rider, the Mortar wont attack. Try it with friends! Place a mortar in front of a Tower and have your friend summon a Hog Rider.

So I hear your point about Royal Giant, however there's a message in game that goes "All cards are created equal-even royal giant."
