Hummingbird is way too low in my book, I feel like it's the perfect complete package with beautiful vocals, impactful drops, and really good pacing in terms of its progression. Chronologically for monstercat it's the first song I'd call a 10/10
30) Stereotronique - Grind This is just everything I dislike about this guy's music in a nutshell. 29) 1up - Whip-it Mom, can we get Dragon Pirates? No, we have Dragon Pirates at home. Dragon Pirates at home: 28) Varien - Nights In Bangalore, Pt. 2 Oh, man, if only he added KICKS and switch-up the drop a bit, I might've had it towards the middle. 27) Droptek - Chaos Storm Droptek dubstep is kinda dumb, but fun. His electro is no fun to me. 26) Day One - World's End Just a less dynamic White City. 25) Stereotronique - Tonight Swedish House Mafia Save the World ripoff drop. 24) SW - Motions It's not horrible and it's more interesting than Walkers, but it's still not good. 23) Muzzy - Concert Crush One of his worst songs, honestly. Makes his 2011 stuff sound like masterpieces. Everything sounds so weak, especially the production. 22) Skifonix - Addicted I see no value in this. Just by-the-numbers electro that you can't pick out in a blind taste test. 21) Mr FijiWiji - Cynical This one hurts, because apart from the vocals & the chops (just ghastly) it is fairly nice, but the vocals stop me from revisiting it. 20) United (Redmoon Remix) Truly an improvement. I still don't care for it, but it's at least ok. The drop sounds much more energetic and I like the soundscape of it. 19) Day One - White City If I come across it, I'll stop and listen to it a bit, but I won't actively seek it out. It's just minimal, chill DnB. 18) Soulero - Break Away I just find all pre-017 Soulero stuff boring. 17) Project 46 - No One The drop is quite decent, but Matthew's voice is not as appealing to me now as it used to be and the same goes for non-punchy Project 46 songs. 16) Rogue - Exogenesis I enjoy the buildup, but the drop just makes me want to go back to Daybreak. 15) Direct - Eternity The continuation of the idea brought forth with Essence (Delusion and Eternity follow a similar formula), but I like it slightly more, bcoz it seems more uplifting and the piano keys add more charm. 14) Varien - Lilith I prefer Varien's heavy side to his eerie, creepy side. He combines both elements pretty well, but I kinda grew out of this song (I prefer to go back to Throne of Ravens). Still decent. 13) Hellberg - Get Up I loathe the go-higher-pitch buildup, but both the melodic and heavy drop are quite cool. 12) Hellberg & 2/3 - Farewell Kinda slept on this one, this collab kinda slaps. 11) TVDS - Another Day I still prefer Bumblebee, but this one is kinda underrated, ngl. Like the production, fun melodies, it is very reflective of the 2013 era of house, but idc. 10) IYFFE, Au5 etc. - Sweet I don't see the hype behind this, honestly. Yeah, big collab, yeah, first Au5 release, yeah, but apart from the well-aged production and some catchy melodies, I will take most other complextro classics over this. 9) Insan3Lik3 - Bliss I don't always make it to the drop, but when I do, it is very enjoyable. One of his stronger efforts (I'd put it above The Other Day). 8) PBN - We Are One One "we'll be rocking to the sun" too many, but one of their stronger efforts and a label classic. They were unstoppable during the 2012-13 era! 7) TwoThirds - Origami Besides Breathe my favorite TwoThrids DnB release, it just screams fun. Also eerily happy sounding for TwoThirds DnB. 6) Rezonate - Ash If it was slightly better produced, this'd be easy top 5. Still fantastic and my favorite song of his. So emotional and enchanting. I mean, practically all songs in the top 10 are classics that deserve the #1 spot. 5) Vicetone - Heartbeat One of my favorite Vicetone MC songs (ties for the top with What I've Waited For). I like the vocals, both drops slap, I like the bridges. Honestly, no complaints. 4) Televisor - Starlight Gareth Bale is good good! Garreth Bale is good ow ow! One of their funkiest and adorably silly songs, but there's a reason why so many ppl come back to it. 3) TTC - Hummingbird This top 6 was killing me, all of these deserve all the praise. This is TTC's best song, period. Very emotional melody, singing and lyrics. Fun and evolving drops, just... Perfection. 2) Tristam & Braken - Flight I really didn't want to put it so high, but even after all "'Tristam Flight" meme comments, it still slaps. Zero room for boredom, it's just a well-paced banger. 1) Draper - Night Rider Idk why I have it as #1, I just want to keep listening to the drop/chorus. It screams joy, man.
I know it's all opinions, but come on, Nights in Bangalore Pt 2 over two Day One songs and one of the best Stephen Walking songs (IMO) is a crime (I know it's been 2 years, and your music taste probably changed a lot)
ah yes, the one with the original meme song, the buildup song (grind), varien’s most disappointing song yet, au5 showing what to expect, emotional goodies, memorable goodies, and seriously, where the heck is hardstyle?!
