***when talking about one of the books i said “mediocre scenes” and i meant to say MUNDANE, like slice of life kind of scenes***

A little inside knowledge from a former bookseller- when they list a book series on the shelf after it goes up by series it’s then alphabetical by title within series. So that’s why Assassins Blade is first. But I still do agree that you could read it first although it hits harder if you have more information about certain characters before reading it 😊

I'm so relieved to see CC ranking so high here, I'm on queen of shadows and already mourning the day it is all over, already read ACOTAR, so I am sooo happy there is something worthy to hold me over until the next release

I read the TOG series for the first time last spring and I actually decided to tandem read Tower of Dawn with Empire of Storms and ToD seemed more enjoyable to me that way. HOWEVER, a Court of Wings and Ruin is MY absolute favorite ACOTAR book. I can't believe it ranked so low for you wah

Love SJM (I’m still reading TOG so can’t rate the series fully yet). But so far: 1. House of Earth and Blood 2. A Court of Wings and Ruin 3. A Court of Mist and Fury 4. A Court of Silver Flames 5. House of Sky and Breath 5. Throne of Glass 6. A Court of Frost and Starlight 7 A Court of Thorns and Roses Fully expecting TOG to completely change all this. Also, if SJM had given CC it’s own seperate trilogy before branching off, I think it would be everyone’s top. Like imagine 3 books giving that cozy book 1 vibe, falling in love with the city and the characters - would’ve been iconic.

I think my top 5 SJM books would be: 1. Queen of Shadows❤ 2. Empire of Storms🩶 3. Heir of Fire💚 4. House of Earth and Blood 5. A Court of Silver Flames If I rank series as a whole, it would be similar. TOG>CC>ACOTAR

Finally someone who loves CC the most 🎉. It's seriously underrated for a SJM series. I've given all of three 5 stars. I love every book SJM has written though.

Totally agree with everything you said about a court of thorns and roses, it was my introduction to sjm and i love it so much the first time around but not so much on rereads. But my absolute fav and most comforting of all is a court of mist and fury… loveeeee.

omg ACOWAR being that low is tea. I always see Queen of Shadows as one of my favorite TOG but you are so right about the beginning like half of the book. I ~think~ this is my top 5 but I'm curious to see if I still feel this way once I reread: KOA ACOMAF ACOSF Heir of Fire HOSAB

I need to reread the ACOTAR series before I can give my offical ranking, but Crescent City is my favorite series by SJM, with HOSAB being my favorite. My least favorite book, atm, is ACOWAR. I was so bored. >.

Tower of Dawn is probably my least favorite book by SJM as well.🥲I think my top 5 are : Kingdom of Ash, Empire of Storms, A Court of Silver Flames, Crescent City 1 & 2. But it's so hard to pick.😇 I heard a lot of people say they think Empire of Storm is boring but I love it with my whole heart and I'm also a huge Lorcan fan/apologist.😍Also can we talk about how underrated Elide is ? she has become one of my favorites after EoS.😍😍☺I don't trust people who think Nesta is a b****, I love her.🥰OMG I'm soooo happy that you're a Hunt and Bryce fan as well. Hunt is one of my favorite fictional men ever, he is so underrated. 😍I really loved seeing your ranking and hearing about your thoughts you're so sweet and cool at the same time.💚💚💜💜

I haven't read crescent city, but here is my ranking of tog and acotar: SPOILERS FOR TOG AND ACOTAR SERIES!!!! Also I only read each series(except my favorite book here) 13 AcoFas(it just doesnt have a place in the plot. It is just wierd fan cervice. She shouldve just split it and acosf in half basically and removed most of the filler) 12 Kingdom of Ash. Plot armor. HUGE plot armor. HUGE deus ex machinas. No consequences for anything whatsoever. So much missed potential. Valg princes die like flies while they couldnt kill 1 easily in heir of fire. They butcher ALL the stakes. I could literally go on forever. 11 Throne of Glass. SJM really didnt understand where she was leading the series(like the kind of adarlan pov chapter for example). 10 Tower of Dawn. Really you said everything I think about this one. 9 AcoWaR. Ok, so the first part of this book was really good with Feyre and the spring court. However, it doesnt really make sense though, like why destroy it. Anyway, the rest is just mid and the ending is just a bunch of deus ex machinas. Sarah J Maas cant write big epic fantasy and battles in particular. This is also evident in kingdom of ash, and even the final battle of empire of storms, though I do love that book. Also Rhys had no purpose in dying like that. And Amren shouldve stayed dead. 8 Now listen to me. Nesta's development here is amazing, but i have quite a few issues: 1. I normally disagree when people say acotar is fairy p*rn, but this is basically fairy p*rn. Way too much s*x scenes here. 2. The girls just anhialate the blood rite. That should not happen. They are certainly still very much below the average illyrian warrior who has been training THEIR WHOLE LIFE. 3. Bryallin dying is just wierd. And the fact Cassian didnt kill Nesta AND somehow survived himself when she told him "kill". 4. Cassian and Nesta shouldnt be mates. They were good without that because they just love each other. Nesta didnt even want a mate. But thats like whatever really. 5. Feyre explicitly didnt want children in ACOMAF. Why does she want to now? Why not change into and illyrian to give birth with the risk of losing the baby versus giving birth and she DEFINITELY dies and Rhys just allows it. Like wtf she is his mate he should not do that. The whole book is filled with plotholes, though it had so much potential. 7 Assasins blade. Just good stories, nice to have a background on Celaena. 6 AcoTar. If not for ACOMAF, this would be way lower, but it does set up acomaf really nicely and on a reread this is pretty good considering acomaf. 5 Queen of Shadows(huge expectations after Heir of Fire, dissapointed kind of though with how they dealt with Arobyn. Still pretty good though). 4 Heir of Fire. Good stakes, good character developement 3 Crown of Midnight. Great overall plot, really liked the romance despite what other people say. 2 Empire of Storms. Great plot, great ending, good character developement(at least on a first read, though it may be different on a reread). 1 AcoMaF. Absolutely love it, best romance, great fantasy stuff, great ending and sets up acowar(which she BUTCHERED) amazingly. Chapter 54 one love❤.

HOFAS I read about 50% and watched RU-vid videos for the spoiler reading vlogs and quite honestly feel like I don’t have to finish this book to feel satisfied about this series.. it wasn’t boring but I just was starting to feel underwhelmed by the “reveals” … the hologram , Bryce, the ACOTAR characters I feel were a let down 😢 i love SJM’s writing style , just have not been a fan of the plot twists.. the low stakes… Ruhn, Baxian, Hunt and the Hind really carried this book .. Declan and Flynn as well ❤
