I like how you can feel Chris’s fandom and passion for what he talks about . It never feels forced for clicks like some other content creators do. This is genuinely a great fan channel !
Even if I don't necessarily agree with what he's saying in a particular video, I still always walk away both inspired - and smiling. Chris is just *fun*.
Freddy Krueger are one of the only horror icons that genuinely scared me, and not only that but I even built a glove with my father a while back. Truly a king and a fucking genius Wes Craven was.
At least you build yours *with* your Dad. When I was younger, I just 'borrowed' on one of my Dad's gloves to transform on my own. He never *did* figure out where his other glove went... 😂
Love your passion on this Channel Chris, reminds me of how Freddy Krueger was the gateway for me into loving the horror genre… Rank for the elm street series as follows: 1. The original and best nightmare on elm street 2. Dream warriors 3. Dream master 4.Freddy’s revenge 5.Freddy vs Jason 6.New Nightmare 7.Freddy’s dead 8.Dream Child 9. Remake ( wish it was never made)
I usually put The Dream Master higher up on my list as Part 4 was the first film I watched and it still holds up in my mind and I know it isn't the greatest but I love it because of what it means to me and how it makes me feel. I think it's great that Chris put Freddy's Dead pretty high, I understand where he's coming from. Also Freddy's Dead was the second Nightmare film I saw and I thought it was terrible then and still do now but I LOVE IT DAMNIT!
So, my thoughts are this. I think Chris has his ranking on point for these movies. His list is totally right, I was thinking whilst I was watching the previous pick “I hope it’s this one” and it was. Awesome list and thank you Chris for putting it together.
Really enjoyed the video and your passionate explanation for your "unique" rankings! Here are mine: 1. Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors 2. Nightmare on Elm Street (1984) 3. Nightmare on Elm Street 4: The Dream Master 4. Wes Craven's New Nightmare 5. Freddy Vs. Jason 6. Nightmare on Elm Street 2: Freddy's Revenge 7. Nightmare on Elm Street (2010) 8. Nightmare on Elm Street 5: The Dream Child 9. Freddy's Dead: The Final Nightmare
Freddy's Dead gets an automatic boost up for only 2 reasons for me: 1) My grandpa took me to see it in theaters when i was only 8 years old ( he was my horror buddy and took me to a LOT of movies i shouldn't have seen lol) 2) It had a 3D segment and they issued out special edition glasses for the screening. So everyone can hate it, but it holds a special place in my heart mainly because my grandpa. Does it suck? Yeah lol
As I've told you before, man - Freddy's Dead is awesome. Don't apologize! For those of us who had that movie as our 'Freddy introduction', the wacky absurdity of it all is what makes it so fun. Rosanne and Tom Arnold in a horrifyingly 90's cameo? Just brilliant. 😁
Each to their own mate,I was introduced to Freddy’s Revenge and that will always be my favourite no matter what anyone else says or thinks. It’s not the best but it’s my best.
Dokken being in the soundtrack adds many points to Dream Warriors! I wonder how the got the chance to use the set for their music video. At the beginning in the hospital someone in the background also wears a Dokken shirt!
Freddy's Dead was my first Nightmare movie in theaters. I remember vividly the poster for it, which might have been a duel marketing campaign because at my cinema it was released in 3D, so that iconic glove hand reaching through the poster was pretty awesome. I also think it's one of the films that gives some more back story with the flash back scenes of Freddy Krueger. Great list!
I just rewatched “Freddy vs. Jason” and damn it’s still one of my guilty pleasures, but yeah you’re all alone with “Freddy’s Dead” there, Chris, sorry, lol.
I honestly think they should make Nightmare on elm street a streaming searies in the vein of Fear street and the new Childs play. I think it would be a massive success in my opinion.
Awesome video Chris. Quickly, im mid 40s first NOES for me was 3. First NOES iin theater was 6, saw FvJ full party style with me in costume and a limo. I know and love NOES like others know Star wars. Anyway, i switch 9 and 5 often as my least favorite. But here's the kicker(dont crucify me) but i rotate 2 and 4 as my favorites. My wife and i got to meet mark and kim at monster mania prior to "never sleep again" (which im in) and i have to say (we knew nothing of mark's struggles) they were the nicest stars ive ever met. But im with you Chris, i was a kid and only saw it as a freddy movie.
The Dream Child has my favorite directing in the series. It's so psychedelic and weird, and everything really feels like dreams. I think it's a rather underapreciated movie.
Freddy being a child m.was the original treatment for the character; "Dream Master" was the MTV version of the franchise; Alice's bro's death scene in "Dream Master" was originally supposed to take place in that elevator; "Dream Warriors" is my top tier fave of the franchise, FvJ was an entertaining watch, "Freddy's Revenge" was a highlight bc Freddy was dark and his makeup was good.
I'm on a Freddy kick I just got the tots part 4 mask, it's legit! I like part 2 a lot for some reason I think the pool scene is cool, to have Freddy in that setting, I even love the cheesy line you're all my children now, the bus stuff creeped me out as a kid and I'd turn the channel so it's fun watching it as an adult. I'll have to give new nightmare a full watch like you suggested I always forget about that one. Your VHS tapes are rad by the way.
My list: 9. Remake 8. Freddy vs. Jason 7. Freddy's Dead 6. Dream Child 5. Freddy's Revenge 4. Dream Master 3. The original 2. Dream Warriors 1. Wes Craven's New Nightmare
Finally some love for Freddie’s Dead. It was the first in the series that I saw as a 4 year old and it holds massive sentimental value for me. I honestly don’t understand the hatred because part 5 and new nightmare are both terrible films and much worse than FD. Ranking (worst to best): Freddie Vs Jason Remake New Nightmare Part 5 Part 4 Part 2 Dream Warriors Freddie’s Dead Nightmare on Elm Street
I love watching ANOES rankings! This is my favorite horror franchise I saw the original when I was 4 years old and have been a horror fan ever since. Worse to best I’d say Remake, 6, 5, New Nightmare, I know. It’s a masterpiece, 4,2,1,3. Dream Warriors is a film I can still watch and love every day ❤️ Freddy vs Jason was it’s own thing. Concept was creative. It was decent.
I totally get the love for Freddy’s dead. Definitely one of the top on my list. I love the music and it does an amazing job of having that 90’s aesthetic. I don’t understand the hate for it at all when you’re into this genre
Chris, For some reason, when you impersonate your Dad it sounds like an Australian person impersonating an Australian person lol does your dad have a very heavy accent, or does it just sound like that to American ears
6. A Nightmare on Elm Street 4: The Dream Master 5. A Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors 4. A Nightmare on Elm Street 2: Freddy's Revenge 3. A Nightmare on Elm Street 5: The Dream Child 2. A Nightmare on Elm Street 1. A Nightmare on Elm Street
Can’t help looking at the VHS of Dream Warriors and I noticed… did Nightmare 3 used to be rated R 18+ here in Australia back in the day? The modern DVD say’s M
There is someone in A Nightmare on Elm Street 3 who's a huuuuge star now. Laurence Fishburn who's credited as Larry Fishburn played Max an orderly and does the introductions of the teens to Nancy. Personally I love all the og Elm Street movies and like the remake. The remake had potential, but just didn't quite live up to it. I remember the original coming out and theaters weren't allowing anyone under 18 in. If you didn't have id proving you were 18...nope..no admission even if you went with a parent or guardian. And unfortunately I was under 18 and home video rental wasn't as big then, not in my small town. I did eventually see it on video, rented a vcr(they were big time expensive to buy back then)and a few horror movies for the week end.
1. We're The Dream Warriors 2. Original 3. Dream Master 4. Dream Child 5. Freddy vs. Jason 6. Freddy's Revenge 7. Freddy's Dead 8. 2010 Remake Never cared for New Nightmare
ANOES ranking #9 Freddy's Dead #8 Remake #7 Freddy vs Jason #6 Dream Child #5 Freddy's Revenge #4 Dream Master #3 New Nightmare #2 Original #1 Dream Warriors Disclaimers: I love all of the ANOES movies. I could watch any of them and be entertained by it.
This is my ranking, 1. Freddy's revenge 2. dream warriors 3. new nightmare 4. original 5. Freddy vs Jason 6. Freddy's dead 7. dream master 8. dream child 9. remake
Tbh I enjoyed the remake, but that also may be because I love jackie earle haley as Freddie. I think the movie wouldve been more interesting if Freddie was proven to be innocent in life like the MC thought at first. Definitely wouldve elevated the film imo
My ranking would be 9. Freddy’s Dead 8. Elm Street Remake 7. Elm Street 5 6. Freddy Vs Jason 5. Elm Street 4 4. Elm Street 2 3. Elm Street 3 2. Elm Street Original 1. New Nightmare
1. Nightmare On Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors 2. Nightmare On Elm Street (1984) 3. Nightmare On Elm Street 2: Freddy's Revenge 4. Nightmare On Elm Street 4: The Dream Master 5 Freddy vs. Jason 6 Wes Craven's New Nightmare 7. Nightmare On Elm Street 5: The Dream Child 8: Freddy's Dead: The Final Nightmare 9. Nightmare On Elm Street (2010) I Do Understand Why Freddy's Dead: The Final Nightmare Is Sentimental To You Chris, I See We Have Nightmare On Elm Street 2 Ranked at #3. I Love Both Nightmare On Elm Street 3: The Dream Warriors & The Original 1984 Nightmare On Elm Street, I Went Back And Forth Between The Two. But Nightmare On Elm Street 3: The Dream Warriors just edged out The Original 1984 Nightmare On Elm Street.
9. Remake 8. Dream Child 7. Freddy vs Jason( I feel this is really overrated among many fans of the franchise) 6. Dream Master 5. New Nightmare 4. Final Nightmare 3. Freddy's Revenge (actually one of the scariest in the series) 2. Dream Warriors 1. Original I honestly wrote the list before watching the video.
9. Remake 8.freddys dead 7.dream child 6.remake 5. Freddy vs jason 4.new nightmare 3.orginal 2.dream warriors 1.dream master. I find dream master is a pitch perfect reimagining of the orginal with more creative kills and even a better protagonist better then nancy even.
I’ve only seen the first two thus far and honestly I thought the second one was way more fun and interesting. They were both great though don’t get me wrong
Here we go: 9. Freddy's Dead: The Final Nightmare (1/10) - Yeah, I get the silliness making it so bad its good, but then it also tries to do a serious Twin Peaks thing, which undercuts its ability to fall into that category. The film is just a jaw-droppingly, aggressively terrible disaster! 8. Remake (4/10) - The darker vibe and the darker portrayal of Freddy might work if it committed to being different, yet it also is a shot for shot remake at some points, which works against it. Also, this is the least imaginative the series has ever been. Dream logic allows the art direction to go hog wild, but they never do ANYTHING with that opportunity! 7. NoES 2: Freddy's Revenge (5/10) - This used to be a 3/10, but I appreciate what it is about, and would be a solid standalone film. The problem is that it disrespects the original by disregarding it, so it fails as a sequel. 6. NoES 5: Dream Child (5/10) - This is a frustrating film, as there is a serious movie here, one that even touches on topics as difficult as abortion, but Freddy is in full goofball mode, so, in essence, Freddy sabotages his own film! 5. NoES 4: Dream Master (5/10) - This film starts off on a sour note by immediately rendering the events of the previous film meaningless. The scares are also gone here. However, it is visually creative and you can tell Harlin directed the hell out of this! 4. Freddy vs Jason (6/10) - Look, high art this is not, nor is it trying to be. It is a ridiculous film based on a ridiculous premise that knows what it is and commits. THIS is the so bad it's good entry! 3. NoES 3: Dream Warriors (7/10) - This movie screams 80s from beginning to end, it isn't very scary, and it feels rushed toward the end, but the cast is great, the writing is solid, and the story is natural progression of what was established in the original, making it a very satisfying sequel! 2. A Nightmare on Elm Street (9/10) - A classic through and through. The premise is genius, Freddy is scary, the visuals are solid, and Nancy is a proactive evolution of the final girl archetype. Yes, nothing tops the ceiling kill! 1. Wes Craven's New Nightmare (9/10) - This is a personal decision, but I can't help it! This is BY FAR the most smartly-written entry in the franchise. The meta idea here is the kind of thing that is right up my alley, and making Freddy "real" makes Freddy scary again . . . something that seemed impossible following Freddy's Dead. The ending literally loops to the beginning, keeping the Freddy demon traped in an endless loop! What an outstanding idea! The only major quibble is that the climax is way over the top, and tonally at odds with the rest of the movie, but it is otherwise A+!
The original and vs are the only ones that held my attention and I thought were good. This franchise just doesn't do it for me, outside of the two I mentioned.
Yesterday i finished watching all the nightmare on elm st movies (first time seeing alot of them) and i gotta say my favorite movies is part 6. I think freddy is the best when hes the funniest! Ps i like all the movies none of them i hate
I like Part 5 more than 4, which is borderline heresy. I think Part 5 has a stronger gothic ambience and the kills are better. I don't love either. My ranking: 1. A Nightmare On Elm Street 3: The Dream Warriors 2. Wes Craven's New Nightmare 3. A Nightmare On Elm Street 1984 4. A Nightmare On Elm Street 2: Freddy's Revenge 5. Freddy vs Jason 6. A Nightmare On Elm Street 5: The Dream Child 7. A Nightmare On Elm Street 4: The Dream Master 8. Freddy's Dead: The Final Nightmare 9. A Nightmare On Elm Street 2010
My Nightmare on Elm Street movie rankings are 9 2010 reboot 8 the Dream child 7 Freddy's Dead 6 New Nightmare 5 Freddy vs Jason 4 the 1984 classic 3 the Dream master MTV Nightmare 2 Dream Warriors 1 Freddy's Revenge
I never saw the remake, so that's not on the list. The other movies I saw many, many times. 1. Part 3 - Dream Warriors 2. Part 1 3. Part 4 - The Dream Master 4. Freddy Vs Jason 5. Part 2 - Freddy's Revenge 6. New Nightmare 7. Freddy's Dead 8. Part 5 - The Dream Child
9 Freddy's dead 8 nightmare on elm street 5 7 nightmare on elm street remake 6 Freddy vs Jason 5 nightmare on elm street 4 4 nightmare on elm street 2 3 nightmare on elm street 3 2 Wes Cravens new nightmare 1 nightmare on elm street 1984
There are really only 5 good nightmare films: 1. Nightmare (Original) 2. Nightmare 2 - Freddy's Revenge 3. Nightmare 3 - Dream Warriors 4. Nightmare 4 - Dream Master 5. Wes Craven's New Nightmare Nightmare 5 - Dream Child, Freddy's Dead, Freddys vs Jason and the Remake all have good sequences but are pretty terrible films.
My rankings go as the following #9 freddys dead it’s to comedical to be good #8 dream child cool concept bad execution #7 Freddy vs Jason so much potential but the production is terrible #6 dream masters it started the loop of the terrible nightmares #5 Wes cravens new nightmare it’s okay but I feel it’s dragged down a bit with how hard it is to follow #4 dream warriors great movie but I don’t like the dream powers #3 the original I know it’s of nightmare but it’s good I just don’t like it as much as the next two #2 the remake really it’s the first one I watched so it gave me a peak into nightmare on elm street and I understand the kruegers a kiddy fiddler but it’s just doing what the original didn’t have the balls to do #1 freddys revenge good story the characters feel real great execution These are opinions
I was sure till now that Freddy was ### i remember that mom was telling me that she was reading books years ago and she was sure about that. And yas I'm now not sure about books 🤔
You enjoy Freddy's Dead as well?? Did we become best friends lol here is mine Freddy's Dead New Nightmare Original Freddy's vs Jason Part 2 Part 3 Part 4 Part 5 Remake
I agree with your 1 and 2 as my favorites. I got to watch them in order as they came out. Because I'm that old. BTW, dating yourself as you often do, as a young man, is a bit flippant. Not a thing when your a 20 or even a 30 something should do. You're not that fucking old.
VS in a title is pronounced VERSUS not "verse"! Ugh anytime someone misuses this it irks me to no end. Plus, dude! Wes Craven's New Nightmare is one of the top 3! Definitely better than Freddy's Dead or even Freddy's Revenge.
The 2010 remake was so bad omfg it's an insult to the old movies. They tried to be darker and more realistic in the design but it took away from freddy's original design that had way more personality. The acting was awful, the story changes were stupid, the CGI looked like trash compared to the old practical effects in the old ones. It wasn't scary and it felt like a parody of a nightmare on elm street. The voice of freddy didn't sound like freddy and when he talked his lips barely moved which also took away from freddy's personality. The new attitude of freddy was cringy at best compared to his attitude in the old ones which was fun. They just destroyed the film
I actually really liked the remake, Samuel Bayer first feature movie. That dude 1000s of music videos nearly everyone has seen and loved. Anyways in 2010 I didn't have the internet and i eventually got to see the movie. I liked it alot then the newspaper reports came of wakeeens pheonix's wife publicly trashing the movie which I think generally is a huge part why it got so much negative feedback. The visuals and effects were stunning except Mr Harely Freddy's look. I can't believe there are people who would prefer the cheese of the elm street sequels too the remake. Different strokes for different folks I guess.
@@leod8489 Freddy is way too cartoonish in Freddy’s Dead and Freddy in the Remake was better than all the other characters in that movie all he needed was better makeup and a better script.
The remake last... Again. Its way better than the last few Robert Englund movies those were trash! At least this stands up as an actually entertaining film
A joyless, so dark you can barely see it film, with no imagination in its dream sequences, and which teenagers are stalked by the person who molested them as children . . . is entertaining? I respect your opinion, but I can't say I understand it.
