I'm sorry, but you complaining about too many Isekai is, unfortunately, WAYYYY too late, shit Isekai is being pumped out every bloody season for over 2 years with no indication of stopping anytime soon 😔 Also W for enjoying Spice and Wolf, the directing for this new adaptation is actually great imo
as someone who doesn't watch a lot of anime (as referenced at the start of this video!) I honestly thought isekai as a genre had tapered off after 2016. i was NOT aware how many were still running ALL THE TIME 😭
I'm so happy for Ranger Reject. I remember getting into the manga like 2 years ago and being so captivated by it. I was so happy when the anime was announced. Hope you continue to like it. I really enjoy it
Ranger Reject manga is wild! In 130+ chapters it's already in the "3rd Saga" The plot escalates A LOT, with incredible Plot reveals and mysteries that lead into the next Saga.
Hoping ranger reject is two cours. (Also it used to be officially called Ranger Reject but then they changed the english localizer company when the anime got announced for some reason and they changed the title to “Go! Go! Loser Ranger!” Which sucks ass as a title so people still call it Ranger Reject)
Great video! The character designs in Kaiju no. 8 are atrocious, I don't know why they made everyone look so weird. The actions scenes and kaiju looked pretty decent tho, so I'll try to ignore everyone looking like aliens. I share your thoughts on YozaFam and Rangers, really excited to see more of those two. Those three were the only ones I've watched so far, so I might check out a couple of the other series here when I have the time(minus the isekai ones, I've learned my lesson with those).
I dont agree with alot of what you said but I respect the hell out of you for saying that you dont like Konosuba with 0 hesitation or shame (even tho, I LOVE that show). It takes some guts to say that considering how...passionate the anime community can get about certain things. Also, I'd recomend you give the wolf girl anime (the isekai one) a second chance. It's surprisingly charming (also not a harem).
Isekai/medieval power fantasy slog has been a thing for like five years my guy. Also, do not skip on Train to the End of the World, and check out Whispering you a Love Song.
Fun list! The 3 I'm most invested in right now are Whisper Me A Love Song(big fan of the manga), Girls Band Cry and Train to the End of the World. Just checked out the premiere of Jellyfish and will be catching up with that! Will also be following stuff like Laid Back Camp, Yozakura, and Dungeon Meshi(finished the manga for this and it's become one of my all time favorites)
I respect your opinion on Konosuba, but i still hold that you could have phrased it better on twitter. You came across as if you were looking down on anyone who did like it. I don't think you were looking fown on anyone, but it did come off that way.
The 9th episode of the 1st season made a lot of people drop the show , it gets repetitive after a while too , dont lower your level there are tons of great shows dont limit yourself to just isekai
@@monkeygameplay5455 I get that, episode 9 almost made me drop the show, and the ovas aren't great. But like I said, different people find different things funny. I don't think you, or anyone else, should be looking down on others for enjoying something. I'm not lowering my level, as you put it. I'm enjoying something you don't. That's the type of language that makes it seem like you're looking down on people. If you don't like it, that's fine. You are entitled to that opinion. However, I am equally entitled to mine, and I should be able to hold that opinion without being viewed as lesser over something as trivial as opinions on anime.
@@nathanjarrett728 maybe you misunderstood me i meant that you dont deserve to watch that you deserve better shows , its fine if you enjoy it tho , im writing these words in 2 minutes no need to overthink it pal.
@monkeygameplay5455 who decides what's a "better show?" That's all subjective. Whatever you may consider a "better show," another person might think Konosuba is a "better show." Niether is more right and wrong than the other. You can't just decide another show is objective better. I "deserve" to enjoy any show I like, just like you deserve to enjoy any show you like. By implying that it is a lesser series, you are, maybe not intentionally, looking down on those who do enjoy it.
I understand & respect how you feel on the Elf Bride show. That said I’m still interested in how he’s going to try to overcome that power dynamic and slowly earn her trust.
OG spice and wolf is really unexpectedly good for an anime about trade lol their dynamic is amazing. Side note, W for not excusing problematic media just because it’s popular/well liked
The guy is a virtue signaller, even though the pedo aspect gets put in a bad light he still thinks they are endorsing it. None of that stuff exists anymore in this anime, he has completely stopped sexualizing them for a very long time
Why is isaki so obsessed with slavery (i know why id rather not think about it) like it could be done interestingly and say something like vinland saga but we set the bar at MT and keep going lower shit like this and half of what this list was is why i watch like 3 anime a season
Wasn’t mentioned here but mysterious disappearances is a series that somewhat interested me personally from the episode I saw, looking past some ecchi elements, might be worth checking out
Great video Asa. Controversially, I would swap Girls Band Cry and Jellyfish since I'm way more into music production/bands than general artist portrayal. I also find GBC more gritty and real.
Leaving a comment just to help with the YT god, haha I well strongly disagree on some takes and super easy to guess which ones, but also I love taking out of the most talked recommendations, and jellyfish and the goon one seems pretty cool, also its the second youtuber i see that say they are particularly good so will be watching soon.
Also I'm quite curious here you say GO! GO! Loser Ranger is a "Power Ranger knock off" but do you know that Power Rangers was a bastardized version of Kamen Rider or just the Japanese Sentai stuff in general? Your just a straight up interesting person lol
Spoiler warning on the elf bride show In my opinion the show is not about her technically being his property at all, in fact in episode four he forces her to leave him in hopes for her to find a purpose for her own life
Its just a generic never evolving anime. Its a watch one episode youve watched all of them anime there are tons like it , its just the setting and the cast designs that change !!! Its the third most repetitive kind of anime just after isekai , then op MC , a sub category that is also repetitive on the op mc is a hero that gets dumped out if his party there are already like 7 of these already i feel like there is one or two each season now....
So late to the party on this comment but "Tonari no Yokai-san" is a really good sleeper anime about Yokai and humans interacting and it's not an isekai. It is a slice of life but the Yokai element adds a lot layers as they don't tend to shy away from the folklore.
@@Nolo-HLM yeah add to that your username 😂 , i find it pretty original so far its a breath of fresh air , i tried to start the 2006 version one day , but i dropped it when he found her clothesless on her carriage , this time around i tried to watch more because there isnt anything too bad on the anime tags like ecchi , add to that , the fact that she wore clothes after so i guess its fine , so far it looks like a cool show. Nowadays they mostly adapt isekai or other generic copy pasted crap , so thats probably one of the other reasons i started watching not a lot , i like the world too im sure that the show will get better each epsiode.
@@monkeygameplay5455 TRUST ME IT WILL!!! Out of the thousands of series I have read anime, comics, manga, manwha, etc, this series has been my favorite of ALL TIME. So I can promise you as one of the biggest S&W fans that this series will never depreciate in quality if not only get better.
So asa tastes is anime/manga that has more character interspection and their dreams. And doesn’t care about anime/manga that’s only about wish full filament and fightings with little to no plot. Aka a lot of (not every) shonoen iseka/battle manga Very based
I've also read the manga of Mission: Yozakura Family (dropped it at ch185), and I forgot just how much annoying Kyouichirou was and still is. Still, gonna watch it
Damn, I feel like if ReZero was released today (season 1), you would have skipped it haha Isekai... Medieval... Standard fantasy... At least it doesn't have any free fanservice and harem shit, what do you think?
@@RoanoraZoro123 medieval world, with elfs, demihumans, magic and witches, it is a standard fantasy. Sure the story is unique, the characters are unique, but the world isn't
You forgot denka dogukaku which is imo pretty good so far pretty unique , the fable which i found watchable and henjin no salad bowl which is a weird anime pretty unique too among others , pretty good list my personal favorite are ranger reject , yozakura , and i like spice and wolf too , notice how my favorites arent isekai , i hope that the isekai disease will be cured one day , so that there will be more kinds of anime , i miss horror anime man the last good one we got is dark gathering...
I'm pretty sure they can. The humour doesn't appeal to all kinds of people. Personally, I stopped finding it funny as I continued with the series (Which also applies to the first few volumes, I don't find them funny anymore) and began to prefer it for several of the characters.
Dirty humer doesn't appeal to some people I'm one of those people why I droped it a couple years ago tried it agien recently it still wasn't funny but the show is ok
@@gliocasneko im suprised you reached past the point where he reincarnated but was the only one that didnt have a generic face 😂 , i thought this season bad at first but i found some enjoyable anime , spoiler none of them are isekai
@@AsarathaHSYT I see. If I may make a suggestion, if you decide to continue with this as a series, perhaps you narrow down the list to only the series that you think have the most potential? I really enjoyed listening to you hype up Jellyfish and Yozafam, and would like to hear more detailed breakdowns of the series that hold your interest. As amusing as your comments were on the isekai/reincarnation series were, they clearly didn't appeal to you and felt more like filler than anything else.
@@Rereader32 i get that, but also it's hard to know what might appeal to me without giving it a shot. my fav of all time is an isekai, so it's very possible that one of them can subvert my expectations. i would like to give the well known ones a shot still, but ill probably avoid some in the future
It is a masterpiece, people just like to say, look at me im a good person because i said pedo bad. Even though the anime even mentions that people are disgusted by the MC for being in that stuff. And if you have seen the new season you would know that he has completely stopped being into that stuff
Ive never heard someone say konosuda isn't funny to them but hey the worlds a big place, i also think i agree with the tier list and the overflow of generic isekai anime really is a shame especially with the premise still having so much promise
