Think about it, Gyatso defeat dozens of firebenders during Sozin's Comet, an event that makes them over 10x or more stronger, then after that, he sat in the corner and meditated until he died.

Wait a minute where ikki and meelo . They are certainly more trained and more powerful then bumi showing it multiple time while bumi is amazing at combat being a general and all . You seriously cannot place bumi , Kai and opal higher than ikki and meelo .

My ranking would be 1 . Monk Gyatso 2. Tenzin 3. Zaheer 4. Jinora 5. Ikki/Meelo 6. Opal 7. Kai 8. Bumi I didn't include airbisons cause they are the original airbenders and they are supposed to be powerful . I don't disagree with the list a lot expect that they didn't put Ikki and Meelo . I mean opal , bumi and Kai higher than them . What???

Not sure Fighting skills he is better than her, but Opal has a natural airbender energy around her from the start, which makes her, in MY opinion, a better airbender, since it's easier for her to adapt to the beliefs of the culture

Yeah.Also the Amagi channel's spokesman talks about that Gyatso might've used the asphyxiation techinque to take down dozens of firebenders,possibly out of desperation to protect the other airbenders.Only Aang survived thanks of his desperate feeling of not being seperated from Gyatso.

Zaheer was never an Air Bender but took air bending combat to a whole new level. In addition could fly well and unassisted, Aang was never seen doing that.

The Avatar cannot fly with airbending because it requires removing your spiritual tether to the earth. The Avatar’s sole duty is to the world, so they can’t detach their earthly tether.

Spoilers: Also don't forget that the firebenders Gyatso defeated were trained soldiers (likely the top of the Fire Nation's invader units) while their firebending was being greatly enhanced by Zosin's comet. He well deserves the top spot.

Kinda lame I agree but look the ruined air temple after the fire nation attack Really look. You will see his power. Also Aang said he was the goat. It's quite hard to rank all those airbenders because they were all at a different training level and age when you compared them. If you just compare their potencial in airbending, I think Jinora would be number one, closely followed by Zaheer and her father as number 3. I can't say much about monk Gyatso tho, that's why I let him out.

I feel like Zaheer was extremely talented, performing really well from the beginning. I can imagine he studied airbending moves even as non-bender, seeing how obsession with Guru Laghima. But he kinda lacked the training and sort of... idk consistency, that Tenzin had. The levitation/flight is, to me, more of a spiritual thing, than connected directly to airbending.

What are they suppose to do? All they’re doing is giving empty threats. Zaheer literally has Korra wrapped on his shoulder; if they do anything they risk Korras life as well. There was literally nothing they could do at that moment besides give empty threats. Even if Zaheer just stood there for hours upon hours, they still could not do anything.

I love Tenzin but Zaheer is lot more powerful, even more so than Prime Tenzin when he was younger. Anyone could argue that Zaheer could teach Aang a thing or two aswell .

But they fought 1v1 and Zaheer was losing until the rest of the Red Lotus came to help Zaheer. As strong as Zaheer is he was still outmatched in airbending.
