Re TARDIS - none of the sets warped in storage:). Graham Williams didn't want to keep the season 14 control room - he wanted a smaller more traditional set that didn't take studio space away from prominent sets. Barry Newbery reused the scanner screen, the internal door and two walls from the secondary for his season 15 set (The Invisible Enemy).

The Big Finish story "Solitaire" with Charley Pollard, The Toymaker and the puppet Doctor is a favourite.

Re: the 12th Doctor interior I find the comment that 12's version is darker odd, because to me it's a lot better lit - 11's version is very dark. Even in the screenshots you can see 12's looks brighter

the most interesting difference in opinion for me, between how I feel and how you two feel, is the Matt Smith one. Because I'm the same age as Matt, but got into the show just immediately before it came back with S1, my interest is primarily classic, but with all that context, none of which would give any natural bias towards the Smith era, I genuinely really like the S5-7A console room, I like almost everything about it, it feels like such a dynamic space to me when they film on it, all the silly minisodes set in there, I really feel like it's got a lot going for it. That tone for S5 with the sort of whimsical sci-fi fairy tale vibe is something I really connected with at the time, and that console room design really fits into that really well to my mind.

It's strange that they never used CSO and modelwork or matte painting to make the TARDIS look more expansive. Especially in the early 70s when they would CSO almost everything.

It’s more strange that Edge of Destruction is the only bottle episode of the series in a show that you’d think would employ them more instead of going over their capabilities for their ambitious stories like Time-Flight and Underworld.

I know this video is old so you may not see this but as I’m one of those who grew up with Smith I felt a duty to bat for it a bit. To me it evokes things like the great glass elevator from Willy Wonka this mad fantastical space that doesn’t make conventional sense and the randomness of it very much feels like it fits Matt’s Doctor as well as the fairytale vibe of the era particularly Series 5. I think it has a scale to it that not many other TARDISES have sans maybe the TV movie one with the upper and lower levels. I’d definitely say I prefer it to Tennants as I think it’s got more to it and a bit less grungy.

Yeah while it's not my favourite it does represent 11 so well with the madman in a box idea

The Pyramids of Mars TARDIS and the Time Monster are exactly the same configuration - the removal of the bowls was the only difference. The original Hartnell doors survived right up to The King's Demons.

I like that for the Master's TARDIS they just flipped it around so the deeper doorway is the main entrance and the other one is the side door.

It’s odd that there is multiple 10th doctor designs and war doctor ones for very minor changes but only one for the first 11 tardis despite the added wall 😂😂

I don't know if this has already been brought up, but somebody did a fan animation of the Celestial Toymaker's first episode. I highly recommend it, it's very good for having only been made by a single fan.

Favourite Tardis interiors, i would say the later 80s one from five doctors onwards, and the twelfth doctors.

I've had a theory for a while that The Celestial Toymaker is one of the rumoured rediscovered stories and that RTD was aware of this when he returned. Hence the (possible) inclusion of the Toymaker in the specials, a bit like a 'joint promotion'.

The Celestial Toymaker is a fun concept, but the script does not make the most of it. Then the production makes even less of it. I think it's a weak story. I think similarly about The Mind Robber. I know it's a popular one, but I think it just doesn't sell the concept or the peril well enough, and there are some lapses of internal logic.

The War one appears twice because the console sparks and David goes “Oh, the Desktop is glitching!” and Matt comments it’s trying to accommodate for three Doctors at once, so it’s slightly different. And we can tell Billy is living in America now. The “can’t” he says at 2:04:41 is *so* American. He has the accent now.

I utterly hate the first Matt smith tardis. Feels like a Damn teletubbies playhouse and it’s so hard to take any serious scene …seriously. Then again I wasn’t a fan of the smith era’s more light hearted kiddy tone so that’s kinda my bias
