Ranking Xrd Characters By Difficulty For New Players

Ramlethal is hard af in this game. Her neutral is the most unintuitive neutral I've ever tried to learn in any game, but once you do manage to get set up she can snowball hard and be very rewarding.

Answer is very Difficult. Much like Johnny, all his combos are matchup specific but with Answer, there is less of a payoff outside of being mad stylish.

Answer isn't that rare anymore I'd say. He requires a shit ton of effort to play him effectively and win. Match-up spread is poor. There's a ton of counterplay to him revolving around blitz, IBs, DPs and a combination of those. I also find jump outs to be good versus him. If you absolutely adore him and are willing to put in the time, go for it. But I don't think it's really worth it. He's insanely fun though and is super creative. Answer will teach you good strike/throw basics and also setplay. Playing him will force you to get good at varying offense and making reads because of his weaknesses. Or you could just pick some gorilla shit and win.

Super true about Venom difficulty. He has a few difficult things to learn at the start (specially if you dislike charge characters), and then everything kind of falls into place it's just decision-making. I'm looking forward to get back into Venom, Dizzy and Raven.

Kizzie Kay already accidentally did this a few years ago with his "real" tier list where he jokingly swapped most of the characters tiers around based on how good they are.

Dizzy's basic combo and setups are very intuitive (stuff into 2D or Ice Spike, proceed to summon fish or spears), but I agree that after that it gets trickier, with the need to get down the timing for bubble TKs, her poor defensive capabilities, and just how quick and unpredictable you need to be to keep your opponent guessing, because she's not one of the game's hard hitters and her mix-up is kinda "fake" compared to other characters (she prefers to go for meaties, cross-ups, frame traps and tick throws, and fortunately she gets access to hard knockdowns from her throw combos). The fire dagger BnB is also finnicky enough that, as a beginner, I prefer to go for 6[H] after the RRC instead. Dunnno if I'd say that Jam is easy. Yeah, knockdown into card and all that, but you also have to contend with no disjoints and little range, which makes neutral kind of unintuitive. I dunno, I'd put her up a tier.

Great list! Been feeling nostalgic towards Xrd lately, I remember Jam and Raven being much harder to play, but maybe with my knowledge of Strive it'd be easier to pick them up again!

As someone who picked Venom to learn when Rollback was announced, He's difficult because of the situational awareness that he requires but mechanically is not that hard to play unless you're going for optimal combos all the time

I'm going to learn Jam in this game after playing her a little bit in +R. She's my first character with a invuln dp and instant overhead. Really excited for the rollback and finally play this game.

I remember picking up I-No and Milia back in 2014 and getting blown up... it was my first anime fighter. Since there's rollback I'm gonna give it another shot now that I'm actually decent at fighting games now.

I think people didn't read the title of the video. For Easy players not for optimal set ups to play since new players aren't gonna be able to do half that shit at the start. It's like when people said Naoto in CF is hard because of his dash combos but really you can play him without them. There is a difference between a simple gameplan that's easy to execute and how to play them at their best. Just remember that when you say "X character is hard or easy." Ok nah, answer is definitely harder than everyone in normal. Honestly I was a lil nervous picking up xrd. People hyped it up as a super hard game. Its honestly not that bad, the only thing I have a lil trouble with is some of the system stuff like blitz.

Man I-NO was the first character I learned to play in XRD looking back I can see how she could be difficult as there we many things I had to learn to play her well.

I have been messing around with i-no in training mode learning some combos and setups, has not really struck me as that hard but maybe once I get into a match I'd feel differently. Went back and played with her a little in strive and I like her so much better in xrd

Recently got xrd and definitely gonna probably pick up Sin Kiske. He just looks sickk

I'd probably move Answer and Kum up a bit... Answer has a tricky gameplan that's a tad harder to just go in, and Kum Haeyun has weird gatling strings and stubby buttons as a big body

I think imma still play Leo. He is similar but different with the Gatling system in Rev 2 than Strive but I'ma represent him in both games I think I can adapt. A little different but manageable.

I would say I-No is absolutely not at the top of "Very Difficult". Her fundamentals are very easy to get a grip on, and improving with her is just as easy to do.

I'd put Ram in more difficult, here BnB's require 2-3 microdash and also she has to play like Shabrys in P4AU with disjointed sword timings with her regular moves

Slayer's backdash cancels continue to fuck me up to this day, but the path of dandyism is rewarding.

I love this game, always have. It's my favorite fg. I have always struggled with what character to main because I really like a lot of them. I've recently narrowed it down to Dizzy and Baiken. Both are very cool. Dizzy has one of the coolest designs, with having the angel and demons as her wings and them fighting for her. Baikens story is also really cool, she's out for revenge against That Man and wnats nothing more than to see him dead. She also has this real like badass attitude. Both have cool combos and it makes it so hard to pick just one. How do you guys deal with character crisis? Is it okay to try and play 2 characters at a high level? Or is it better to just stick to one? I've never had a character crisis until I picked up this game....

There is no strive difficulty level character. I would dare to say that Raven, Ky, Sin etc.. are harder to play than Strive's Zato

for some reason I always find Sol and Ky to be more difficult compare to Chipp especially when come to combo route

chipp: requires jump installs, wall cling setups and fd cancel okie on the basic level so no should be in difficult not to mention he still dies like a fucking fly. baiken:parries are not easy to use. her combos require some execution too and the timing on the air dashes varies based on character weight. Also ever tried doing kire tatamis/air dash tatamis (and to a lesser extent tk yozansen) consistently? this stuff is all actually a requirement at least at the intermediate level i guess you can get away with less shit on low levels. so maybe you have a point. I-no: i would say difficult but not super difficult. (super difficult would be plus r ino. i think that needs its own tier) i can agree on johnny and zato but put ram up there too. kum :should be higher. uses links and the dp loops are tough. those are the characters i know about (or have played) at least. ever since the blazblue difficulty tier list i can't trust your tier lists anymore man. i get what you mean cuz its for new players but the problem is whether its a new player or not they still kinda have to learn some of the characters defining techniques and combos or at least have to start practicing these things even at the beginning so there's gonna be hurdles. also i cracked when you said strive player and never played GUILTY GEAR before

Spent the last like week labbing Johnny vs sol, only to try the same stuff on sin,jam and answer(the characters my friends will be playing) and my shit dont work. Pain, to slayer I go

I main Johnny and ino is definitely harder imo seeing as you need to do consistent IAD combos to be good . Her corner juggles can be tricky too . Johnny is much easier to learn some basic combos just hard to play at a competitive level .

Inno. back in the days, in GG XX Reload was the hardest character in the game (yes, harder then Eddie (Zato-1. but called Eddie)). She used to have the most complicated combos in the game because of the input. To test her out, try to do Chemical Love frc CL frc ... etc on the full meter. She is hard to manage with that inputs :) I don't play Johnny or Inno in Xrd (played Slayer and Venom), but i think with Venom and Inno until you will not get at least some +- ok level of understanding of how to play them and get some combos, you will be super counter productive with that and get absolutely whooped. Johnny has at least some damage from his normals, and you can at least hit somebody with it and on the very beginning level you KINDA can mash something (?? Probably not, but at least do something) out. You can't do that with Inno, or Venom. You have to know this characters. All of that was related to the Reload again, (except of Venom, because i played him) But so far, the list is very accurate. Thank you!

It might be just me, but I never put charge characters as "easiest to pick up" because to me charge characters are inherently always tricky for new players... BUT I guess if you're experienced enough in FGs, sure... I think I'm gonna finally download Xrd and play it... bought it a long time ago but never really tried it, I was gonna start with Strive, but since they went stupid with their regional prices with Strive, I guess I'll just play Xrd instead... and since I suck quite a bit, I guess I'll just go Ky... shoto dude if I'm correct...

Okay so I think at the moment I'm torn between Leo, Jam, Ky, Sin, and Chipp. Kind of goes to show that sometimes the "easy" characters are still the really fun ones to play. lol But yeah I'm finally getting part of the complaints some people had going from Xrd from Strive. And leaving aside the whole "old game good, new game bad" I get the frustration at Characters getting like half their kit stripped away in the name of streamlining the game. I'm seeing some of the stuff Chipp and Ky have at their disposal in Xrd and its crazy.

So many people getting so defensive over this list, naming off all the unnecessary bs their character needs to do lol. This list is pretty spot-on.

venom belongs in normal and you know it. character has propaganda that he's hard at a basic level because you think you need a lot you can do 80% of it with like two ball set ups his zoning is simple and understandable his combo routes aren't that bad most of them are fairly universal.

How easy is it to pick up ACR

Rollback in this game is an absolute blessing. Sol is probably the most fun he's ever been in this game. you get FAT damage from command grabs and counterhits, you don't have to learn his weird sidewinder stuff in this game, and his pressure is simple and strong. 100% recommend to anyone, just learn his dustloop and start hitting people.

Kum can be pretty hard to pick up for a non Xrd player because he doesn't have gatlings and has to link all of his normals

Sin seems like an easy or strong character to weak players but he’s hard to master because his buttons lose to most characters. His gimmicks are easy to exploit at high levels.

Bedman & Jack-O that requires predicting and foresight to be effective are on Strive tier? Man this guy forgot he's rating them based on how noob friendly the characters are supposed to be. And it's weird that viable with button mashing like May & Chipp are on normal instead. When their position should be swapped. Also Faust is not that noob friendly cause you can't button mash with the character.

Venom ain't that hard. Only hard part is when you hit a ball and none of them go where you need to go lmao. But I'm no pro so I'm not good with timing/positioning for hitting the ball to know the trajectory

Let me admit first I haven't played either and barely played strive Venom is easily who I'd play in +r or rev but he seems really challenging. However... I think this is how he looks to new players because I know I at least get overwhelmed by like, do I have to memorize all these patterns for calling balls? But.. I think you actually don't maybe? You're not normally calling that many and if you are they don't need to be so flawlessly placed that the pattern matters? Truly guessing lmao, but if people overhyped his difficulty like this video says, it makes sense to me.

I play faust in xrd, xx, and strive. xx and xrd are just flavors of the same shit. Strive Faust is so neutered and different that he doesn't even really feel like the same character so I never get mixed up. After this rollback update I have absolutely no reason to ever boot up strive again.

Jack-O's a funny case cuz she's way more complex (and cooler imo) in Strive lol and of course, all hail the gorilla king Leo
