"This man is a Zoro"? Maybe Zoro is a Ryoga, as you realize around 7.00 LOL! Fun fact: Italian Wikipedia for some time had a page in main "namespace" (where the encyclopedia articles are) about "Ryoga Syndrome"... It was years ago, and then it was removed from the main namespace, but considered funny and, instead of just deleted, moved to a secondary section dedicated to preserve funny oddities (it:Wikipedia:Scherzi e STUBidaggini/Sindrome di Ryoga).
As far as Ranma failing to notice his/her transformations, I'd point out that it was in the middle of a fights scene and adrenaline is probably a factor
Yeah, I think the main point is there is no innate sensation associated with the curse that might let the victim know he's changed. If he's distracted or focused on battle, Ranma doesn't notice, at least not consciously. He must adjust to his new height and balance or he would fall down, but it's automatic, even at this early stage.
Ryoga is the Trope Codifier for the No Sense of Direction character trope in manga and anime. Also, the episode does give you a hint as to why Ryoga is so mad, but you have to know what you're looking for.
Someone once suggested what would happen if Ryoga asked Zoro for directions: Zoro would give Ryouga a map that makes no sense whatsoever. Ryouga, while trying to follow it directly, does the opposite of whatever the map says and gets to the location in record time.
That actually happens in the series, just instead of a map it's with the help of a certain character pointing at the "right" direction the whole time they teamed up.
@@recipeseeker It was in one of the only two stories I owned of the manga! I didn't remember they actually got there quickly that way, but I remember character X pointing in a direction and Ryoga turning the opposite way...
Actually, that was smart of Rumiko Takahashi to add that little detail before the reveal. And to have it destroyed during this battle will make sense next episode.
Meet the enternal lost boy himself And I'm glad Akane's hair finally got cut. I'll explain why in the next episode. All I can say now is heavy head that has long hair. Her hair looked heavy carrying that persona of being a girly girl.
Here’s come the no sense of direction. 💛RYOGA💛 I remember seeing a manga page where they are teaching readers how to read a manga (Right to Left), and they added Ryoga and the captions say, “Hey! You're reading in the wrong direction!”😂😂😂
The bread just started the rivalry, then Ryoga missed the duel with Ranma and so he started searching for him... And then something happened. You'll need to wait another week, sorry! 😅
Wow! I didn't remember Ryoga didn't like Akane the first time he saw her! Ryoga is the Ranma's rival of the love for Akane the first half of the whole manga
Yes we finally we get Ryoga. You can get some more surprises come next episode. But man just remember the manga series cover 408 chapters. The anime will cover it all, but I do want it to cover what the original anime NEVER got to.
Akane getting so upset she gets tears in her eyes is a new detail in this version and I think it's a good change. It shows that Akane is more frustrated than angry, and also it explains why Ranma seems so concerned, since he feels guilty about making her cry. Plus that will play into a later scene. I really like the way this scene ends, but that will play out next episode so we will have to wait. 😂 I even thought they might put off Akane's haircut since they've been putting such emphasis on her long haired design up until this point. But in retrospect it's the perfect fake-out. If you've bever seen the show before, then that scene was just the right amount of shocking and out of nowhere. We long time fans knew it was coming, but we also remember how shocking it was when we first saw it. I'm glad it was able to convey that again.
This is the first of 5 episodes of season 1 I've been waiting for. When Ranma tells Akane her short hair looks cute on her. She went from devastated from loosing the hair she spent growing for Dr. Tofu as well as her mother, to deciding to keeping it short for the rest of the entire series. Their first real breakthrough. Next episode I'm waiting on is the arrival of my only waifu EVER, Shampoo.
@adrimarsink I have always intended to read the manga, but by the time manga became widely available in was just beginning raising my family. There were always other priorities. Now that my kids are grown, it's kinda hard to get back to the voracious read i was as a kid.
First Tatewaki Kuno now Ryoga every time Ranma and Akane come there they really bring some chaos in Furinkan High School Well at least it is good to see Ryoga to come a long way to make his appearance in the remake
I think the original was a bit too slow but this is a little to fast at times, they could have given a bit more time for Akane and Ranmas moment, and in the series sometimes the humor comes from those “pauses” in the pacing 😊
The reason I didn't notice when I turned into a woman during battle was because I was so focused on the battle that my adrenaline was flowing. Just before that, Ranma was so furious that he probably wouldn't notice the change in his body right away. In extreme terms, there are many cases where people do not even realize that their arm has been injured during a battle. Moreover, the change to a woman would be more difficult to notice than the injury. Even if your penis goes missing in a tense situation like combat, you usually don't notice it right away. On the other hand, are you always conscious of the presence of your penis during a serious battle?
A little disappointed in how they handled Akane's hair getting cut: in the manga, the actual manga panel was cut. In the original anime, the actual tv image frame was cut.
Zoro is 2nd only to Luffy. Ryoga is 2nd only to Ranma. Ryoga is physically insane strong. Zoro is physically insanely strong. Ryoga has zero sense of direction. Zoro has zero sense of direction. Both have a food based origin with the lead character. Both dedicate to being strong because of the lead.
@@animeguy2099 Not necessarily it’s following the Manga, so it’s cutting out the filler that was there in the old Anime adaptation and I think they’ll probably only have two seasons like Urusei Yatsura did so their not wasting time and are closely following the manga.
@@calronkeltaran493aside from the live action series, this December in Japan they'll have the Tokyo Blade stage play, the stage actors are gonna play as the characters of Oshi no Ko playing the characters from the Tokyo blade story
@@harrymccafferty8702 I think it’s because of the facial expressions and grunts/ roars he made. And what’s up with those comic book onomatopoeias?! We can hear it, why write it out?!
The flaws are starting to add up for me -The pacing is silly it's like they are trying to animate the manga panels rather than making an anime. Jokes don't get their time to land and emotions not time to be felt. -Seemingly intentionally choosing to have Akane say she hates men when she hates boys is just odd considering she loves Dr. Tofu. -Odd change this episode changing the print on female Ranma's clothes from China to Smile. -The music is just very bland outside of the opening and ending those are bangers. The original anime music was hit or miss but I find nothing is memorable in the new one. -The Radio club original characters feel like a pretty odd choice just taking space better used for regular cast. It's only 50 sec they use but that's a ton when they already trying to fit 4 chapters in 19min of anime. The original anime had double that nonsense but they also had double the airtime resulting in a bit too much fluff to be fair but there is a middleground between the two. To end on a bit of a positive thing the battle action and associated sound effects are pretty decent.
I agree, it is good with less fluff but the moments could have a bit more time to linger. And the music was a bit off in this one, but it wasnt like that in the first three epsodes. I hope they are just speeding through the introduction to have more time for the moments in the manga that were never animated 🤞
@@seniorderpface Everything isn’t going to be exactly one to one because if it was then why even make this just go watch the original, they are staying true to the source material and not deviating and that’s good enough for me, this remake is for people who didn’t get a chance to watch the old series or read the Manga and it’s not like they changed anything drastically like personalities or how the characters act or the jokes it’s the same old Ranma 1/2 just updated and hopefully this adaptation gets an ending since the original Ranma 1/2 Anime didn’t get one it just ended.
