Hey everyone hope you're all having a great day!!! Suprise upload I hope you all enjoy, I loved making this video if I'm being honest, I LOVE shinto! Edit: After reading some comments I realise I've done a logan paul and I've made a severe lapse in judgment, my goofy ass disregarded the fact Ranni's POV, its actually her left eye not the right eye on the doll, this does not actually disprove it entirely, if the real Ranni (pre night of the black knives) is the spectral half, the point I made would still work, just not for the doll body! The discord for the channel: discord.gg/xv8t5bFSzd There are a few channels I need to credit, in some cases like ranni's ending, I could not get it due to being not at the end of elden ring, I am truly sorry. Massive thanks and Credit to @TheJapanSociety for the amazing clip of shrines and a temple! Massive thanks and Credit to @BatgirltheRobin for the batmobile clip! Massive thanks and Credit to @DxD for the ranni ending! Massive thanks and credit to @Yurara Sarara for the stunning clips of the Tsukiyomi-Jinja Shrine in Koyto! Massive thanks and credit to @wuh1 for the general radhan clip! Ive had the Ranni questline in my fcpx for ages, I'm so sorry, I don't know whose it originally is.
What about messmer Who has similar thing with ranni about eye open and other close, but in his case is right eye is open, like, he really can be something close tô amaterasu, one he obvioius control fire, and he is somewhere that noboby can find him, like amaterasu in her cave,
@@theemeraldgecko310 in the game, I am in situation that a made 100% per cent the game, and i am just walking in the map pos final boss, but with dlc is coming, I dont know if is worth tô revive melina to see her in shadow realm, but if I do that, I must beat everything tô reach mogh, when right now mogh place is free for me
@fernandopagninschmid4934 what I’m personally going to do is start a new run and get to that point as there’s still like 2 months till that point, at the end of the day it’s up to you if you think you can get back there in time? If you think you can, I’d suggest maybe doing that, you’re choice though!
I am pretty sure that the spectral face is Ranni's. The face we have all come to know is not from her true body; Ranni's soul exists in a doll modeled after her mentor, the snowy crone. The second face is of her true form.
Looking back on it, I think you might be right! When it comes to fromsoftware I look into things wayyyyyyy too much, the reason I was so caught up with it, was due to the eyes which are super strange!
My take on Ranni's spectral form overlapping with the doll's marked eye is that her spirit is bound to the doll's body through the mark, it's like the anchor point. I think it's that simple, "Eyes are the window to the soul" type thing. The only other example we have of such a thing comes from Melina, in which she is explicitly "burnt and bodiless" yet she can still appear, albeit with one eye sealed. I'd say Ranni is an Empyrean due to Radagon and Rennala's marriage being a "union of opposites", being based upon Hermetic ideas of the "Magnum Opus" which itself is based on the Gnostic/Alchemical idea of Rebis. The marriage is Golden Order Fundamentalism taken to the extreme, the ideas of the Laws of Regression and the Laws of Casuality, the conjoining of opposites. The process that Radagon goes through with Rennala echoes the process that Marika attempts with Radagon when she begins the shattering, they are attempts at a "unification of opposites". The putrefaction and purification (separation and recombination) of the opposing masculine(sun)/feminine(moon) features into something greater is representative of both the steps to become the Rebis; a divine hermaphrodite AND to create a Philosopher's Stone. I theorize that their marriage is what created the Great Rune of the Unborn, being akin to a Philosopher's Stone, and that Ranni was born of the Great Rune by/through Radagon utilizing said Rune. Marika attempted to go one step further and become Rebis by reuniting with Radagon through the Shattering, but Radagon resisted. But also if you want something less speculatory, the requirement to be an Empyrean is not NECESSARILY being born of one God, that line in Malenia's Great Rune could be interpretted as saying that Malenia and Miquella are CURSED because they were born of one God(incest) rather than saying they're Empyrean bc they're born of one God. This ties into Gnosticism once again, where there's a story in which a character named Sophia(Wisdom) either attempts to emanate(separate individual aspects into a new form) without her syzygy(her other half), or she attempts to breach the veil between herself and God. These mistakes cause her to earn God's ire and she begins to fear losing her life, this culminates in her creating the Demiurge, a false and ignorant god named Yaldabaoth. The parallel here being that Marika creates Radagon by emanating with herself, Marika fears losing her life(removed the Rune of Death), Radagon eventually becoming a false and ignorant God, and that Marika attempted to become something greater than what she was. Thinking on Radahn, I'm actually unsure as to whether his actions were in spite of Ranni or in spite of Malenia(and extension Miquella). Radahn DOES stop Ranni's forward progress but I don't believe that was the primary intention. Remember why Malenia faces Radahn in the first place, it's because Miquella needs the Eclipse to happen at Fort Sol. The potential for Miquella's Haligtree was likely a bigger threat to Golden Order Fundamentalism than anything else at the time, so it'd make sense that Radahn would take it upon himself stop it. Ranni at the time wasn't really a threat, she kinda just disappeared and doesn't seem to be making any moves to stop Radahn until we show up, so I'm not sure Radahn was really thinking about her too much.
I’m not joking when I say this blew me away, this was absolutely incredible to read, thank you so much for sharing! I honestly can’t see any flaws in this, it’s amazing!
@@theemeraldgecko310 I'm glad you enjoyed! There's a couple of RU-vidrs who have covered the more broad connections to Gnosticism/Alchemy surrounding concepts like Rebis/Philsopher's Stone/Unions of Opposites; but I believe that my take on Marika being a parallel to Sophia is original or at least mostly unexplored, I'll expound more in case you're interested, but it'll be LONG haha. The most unique version of the story relating to Sophia - called 'Pistis Sophia' meaning 'Wisdom of Faith' or "Faith from Wisdom' - is cosmologically independent from other versions of Sophia like the one found in 'Apocryphon of John' 'Pistis Sophia' is a gnostic text which has Sophia's syzygy(Jesus) ascend through the 13 aeons(planes of material existence, bound by the stars and the Zodiac) in order to restore Sophia to her place. The difference between this story and the others involving Sophia is that Sophia is not a divine being here; she lives in the highest existence of the material plane, the 13th aeon said to be a place of righteousness, but she aspires for more and is tricked(through her faith/ambition) into descending from the 13th aeon by "Saobath, the Adamas(indomintable)" a being who leads Marika astray with illusions of "divine light" and whom is also imprisoned in the "bounds of the zodiac"(the material world) for "inappropriate sexual conduct" which birthed archons(rulers) and other beings, such as a son named "Taricheas" that is known for "holding orgies and practicing impure rituals". A character named "Authades" fills in for the role of the previously discussed false and ignorant God, Yaldabaoth, with Authades being implied to be corrupted by Adamas(Chaos) and becoming jealous of Sophia/Sophia's wish to join the divine light rather than to rule over the aeons. There's also a character by the name of "Zorokothora Melchisedek", whom is known for justice/righteousness and is responsible for "overseeing the transport of light from lower to higher realms as it becomes purified". And finally there's a character/entity by the name of "Jeu", the organizer of the cosmos and the "Father of Jesus' Father", the father of "the Great Saobath, the Good". Jesus(post-ressurection) is sent by "the Great Saobath, the Good" to restore Sophia(not ascend, only restore to her original purpose) and during Jesus' ascension his actions are said to be connected to that of the Astrologer's living in his time, with his actions reducing the effectiveness of Astrological magic. (Gnosticism tends to be anti-cosmic, however in 'Pistis Sophia' astrology is given a divine origin in which celestial bodies hold power given to them by a divine being, ala the Dark Moon being an 'Outer God') Jesus describes the events he experiences to his disciples in the story as such: "Son of Man consented with Sophia, his consort, and revealed a great androgynous light. Its male name is designated 'Saviour, begetter of all things'. Its female name is designated 'All-begettress Sophia'. Some call her 'Pistis'" It is such that the events of 'Pistis Sophia' can be interpreted as ultimately being a machination of God(the "real" one), meant to facilitate the growth of Jesus and the spread of "Pistis" or Wisdom throughout the aeons which would inspire Faith in Him. Faith from Wisdom, "Pistis Sophia". I'd say the overarching plot of 'Pistis Sophia' is a CLOSE parallel to the actions of the Tarnished should we choose to use the Goldmask Mending Rune and create the "Perfect Order" desired by the Greater Will. Marika's wishes to ascend but separates herself from the Greater Will and descends into Chaos, there are heavy implications that Marika intended for Melina to lead us to the Frenzied Flame through dialouge in the Mountaintop of the Giants(implying manipulation from them), she has her power stolen by Radagon, and the Tarnished can do no more than restore Marika to her place as the vessel; Should the Tarnished follow the Goldmask route they also effectively gimp the power of the Stars(and the Astrologers) by preventing the Age of Stars. Character list and what I believe are the parallels: Jeu = The One Great, the being from which everything is said to have fractured from The Great Saobath = 2 Fingers/The Greater Will, representative of 'Good' and 'Order' Saobath, the Adamas = 3 Fingers/Frenzied Flame, 'Chaotic' and ''manipulative' Taricheas = Shabriri, 'hedonous' and 'wicked' child of Chaos Sophia = Marika, straying from divine light/pursuing too great of ambitions Authades = Radagon, they are jealous of Marika's/Sophia's attempts to become greater and actively work against it Jesus = Tarnished, revived with Grace(divine light) and coached by the Greater Will to restore Marika to her purpose Zorokothora Melchisedek = Godfrey, the First Elden Lord, first to establish Order through the Age of the Crucible and display "justice"/"righteousness". He is also responsible for the transport of the Tarnished through the Badlands and he stands as the final obstacle between the Tarnished and Radagon; ensuring that the light which has reached thus far is purified. Stars = Glintstone Stars which determine fate, used by the Astrologer's in both the text and in Elden Ring. Zodiac = the Elden Ring, with concepts of the Ring being represented by the circular Great Runes which are aligned as if they were the orbital planes of celestial bodies; this idea being furthered by the fact that the Dark Moon appears as a celestial body. That's my full dump, feel free to ask clarifying questions or poke holes if you so wish!
@Nezxmi that was honestly such a great read! I’ve never really delved into Alchemy/Gnosticism but I really want to now!!! I honestly can’t see any holes in it from that first read of it, great stuff dude seriously!!!
Yea man that shit was insane. The Gnosticism stuff is absolutely wild. If that is the case, the people who created the lore in this game are brilliant. I’ve read so many explanations through religious symbolism and they all seem so intricate. This game is truly a masterpiece
Ranni and Rahdan could have been groomed to become the new Marika and Radagon. But when she wanted nothing to do with her predetermined fate Rahdan was outraged and halted the stars to stop her fate. A hate that survived even the rot.
Rennala is most likely not the "mother", these children are probably made of the amber egg. A reason why she clutches it and tries to make sweetings without Radagon.
I cannot put into words how much I LOVE this theory, it all makes sense looking at it like this!!! Is it just me or does this sound kinda like manus? Manus was consumed and lost his mind, but his memories and feeling for his pendant were so strong that they survived even when he was confused, just like how in you're theory Radahns hate survives!
@@Blockvard I haven't heard the theory that the children were made from the egg before, but it makes total sense! In shinto children being made of special objects is super common! Not to mention your're theory further reinforces and sheds light on how Ranni is an emperyan! Amazing stuff dude!
@@theemeraldgecko310 thanks! That's a cool parallel, Manus is lost to abyss and Rahdan to the rot. Both becoming feral in nature but caring in their core for Pendant/Leonard the horse.
@@theemeraldgecko310 thank you again! The egg has bothered me for a long time. Rather cynical about Radagon's intentions with Rennala. They really played her when not being able to defeat her in battle.
4:15 I feel you're A little confused about Ranni... The Spectral half of Ranni IS RANNI lol. The Blue half is just a doll, A puppet she is controlling with the Spirit half.
I feel like with Ranni, that spirit is her soul bound to the doll. She divested herself of her own flesh to escape her fate and probably replaced her body with the doll by binding her soul to it.
You know what? I wouldn’t be surprised if this was confirmed as being the case, it makes total sense! I gotta give you props, well done for thinking of this it’s awesome!
She still didn't escape her fate fully until she offed her two fingers.. so what was the point? Unless maybe her flesh wouldn't have allowed it somehow (but I kinda thought that was Blaidds job anyway so idk)
@@trufreedomI think you might be onto something with her flesh not allowing it! I guess time will tell, fingers crossed the dlc sheds light on some of this stuff!
This was an improvement from your older videos for sure. I don’t think is about Radahn per se, but definitely of what Radahn represented. And he love the golden order because they were powerful. That’s all. The red-headed lion is meant to show that. And Ranni is definitely a daughter of Radagon. The readheaded original body shows that. Radagon gifted the amber egg to Rennala and that’s a clue of why Ranni is an empyrean as Miquella and Malenia. Basically that is just to point out that Radagon is Marika. All of them were sons and daughters of Radagon and Marika but they weren’t chosen as empyreans. I think is related directly to the erdtree. That’s just a story beat to show Radagon/Marika
Thank you, I’m really glad you found it better than some of the other videos! I totally get where you’re coming from, there’s so many paths this can go down, I guess only time will tell!
I think Amaterasu could be referenced within Melina considering her missing eye and burning of the erd tree, and the fact Melina also may be the gloam eyed queen with more reference to the night of the black knives reference
Amazing point! I hadn't considered Melina as an Amertrasu reference, but now you mention it makes a whole lot of sense! Thank you for telling me about this!
It's crazy how little we actually know about Rahdan there's a lot said about his power and prowess. Some about his devotion to his father. But very little about his actions, allegiances, motivations.
I 100% agree! I have a little theory that he might not be as heroic as people think, like you said we know so little, people just assume he’s a good guy but we really don’t know!
U know how u find Marika impaled by a spear on her side. What if Mesmer was the one who impaled her and needed to prove his loyalty to the golden order by impaling his mother thus he is called Mesmer the impaled
Isn’t she more like Princess Kaguya? I mean first of all, they’re both Princesses, secondly she was placed in the hands of the Carians, her non biological family. And at the end, she returns to the moon, Where Kaguya loses all ties to the mortal world, Ranni wishes the world loses all ties with The Gods.
Love the video with one exception, your music bed is a little high in the beginning or maybe it's the particular song. It's a bit distracting. Also first video of yours I've come across.
@@theemeraldgecko310 The rest of the video is leveled just perfect and while yes I can hear the music bed it's not distracting like the song in the beginning. No need to be "sorry" per say, I tend to be a bit of a music nerd so my ears pick up music bed more than most. I'll be back for more videos, thank you for taking constructive criticism 🙏
I’m glad the rest of the video was better levelled, silly mistake on my part; it’s quite a short song compared to the others so I must have brushed over it faster than the others when checking. No need to thank me, I think constructive criticism is super important, thank you for letting me know and going about it in a constructive way, you wouldn’t guess the amount of people who criticise but don’t actually go about it constructively, so thank you for that 🙏
Here's my tion foil take on Ranni Ranni is the daughter of merika and raddagon Ranala cannot have children if she could why would she need such a large hunk of mystic baby spawning sap Ranni was meant to be the lasting connection between the golden order and caria but ranni resented her position
Can 100% see you’re tin foil theory turning out to be true! It’s right up fromsoftwares alley lmao. I’m not too sure on the mystic baby spawning sack as that can be lost over time, but I 100% agree with the possibility of Ranni resenting her position as basically a peace treaty! Super interesting theories!
Radhan halted the movement of the stars, effectively forestalling Ranni's fate indefinitely... at least until we come along and take Radhan out. Hence the cutscene after killing Radhan, where the stars resume their movement and Astel crashing through the surface and opening up the way to Nokron/Nokstella.
This is, in my opinion the best video I’ve seen from you so far! Well put together, well argued and I felt like I could follow your line of thinking from start to finish! And also a very cool find! Congratulations! About the content itself the only thing I can think about is that it’s kinda grey whether Radagon and Marika were already fused when Radagon married Rennala. If they were, it could be the reason why Ranni becane an Empyrean. The one piece of lore I would strongly dispute is a British sounding bloke drinking coffee before drinking tea
I’m honestly so glad you enjoyed this video so much! It truly means the world to me, thank you so much! I hadn’t thought of that, but that’s a really great reason why she became an Empyrean! Maybe the reason radhan/rykard are not empyreans is due to maybe them splitting again? I’m not sure, super interesting theory, I love it! Hey, hey, hey what can I say, my ancestors are probably cursing my bloody name right now but coffee is so much better than tea!

The only similarities between the two at the point you mentioned there's so many it can't be a coincidence... was the right eye? One thing? A coincidence... Huge stretch

@@christianlaw1992 I’ve gotta agree with fluff, if you look at it from our POV yes it’s her right eye, but from Ranni’s POV it’s her left eye, stupid mistake on my part🙏
@@theemeraldgecko310 I mean im almost sure it’s confirmed the spirit you think is Melina is the real ranni. You can even find her true body in game with red hair like her brothers. The doll with the closed right eye is not ranni it’s a doll based on the woods witch who taught her magic. The spirit(ranni) has a closed left eye which meets the dolls closed right eye.
@@theemeraldgecko310 i don’t really have a solid foundation or anything, but I feel like Ranni and Godwyn parallel Radagon and Marika more than Ranni and Radahn. And I also feel like that would add more credence to Ranni sacrificing him specifically. What if Ranni was to make Godwyn her consort/lord?
@queertitan I really do like this theory, if it does turn out to be the case, that would mean Godwyn might have been in on his own “death”, which is HUGE assuming of course that he knew of the consort plan
@@theemeraldgecko310 and to add to them being parallels of each other, Ranni and Marika (allegedly) are both schemers. And as for Godwyn and Radagon, we barely know anything about their background. All we know are their past feats and demise.

Thank you! I’m so glad you both enjoyed it! 100% get where you’re coming from, I was thinking along the same lines, I just couldn’t get the right clip for talking about the Shinto stuff, didn’t feel right putting shrine and temple clips about the birth of gods, so I just stuck with Loretta lmao

Under the dark moon and in the absence of Radahn the stars of darkness will take hold of the lands between... And you will have Astels and worse nightmares running amuck.
