The one thing that seems to be always overlooked by everyone is how incredibly smart Dazai is..Ranpo solved the case but Dazai gave a great deal of detail as to what happened. To me, Dazai probably would have been able to solve the case as well. He's just as observant and just as intelligent as Ranpo but deduction is Ranpo's thing so he doesn't need to.
ikr !! i think dazai can also solve most of the problem that ranpo solved. the difference is, (1) ranpo is faster and (2) dazai's evidences are less than what ranpo found. ( + manga dazai is hella smart wth )
Ranpo's mind is more focused on logical thinking, and Dazai's mind is more focused on strategic thinking. That's why Ranpo is the perfect detective and Dazai is the perfect strategist
I don't know if anyone in here is already done watching the entire season of BSD, but in the next few seasons there's a moment where Ranpo said he's afraid that he can't compete with their "enemy" to solve the problem, bcs their "enemy" is as complex as Dazai. Ranpo is fully aware of how clever Dazai is especially about tactics, well, Dazai became the first youngest executive in a mafia organization for a reason.
Ranpo needs all of his mental energy to solve difficult cases or mysteries. He can't be bogged down with simple tasks like memorizing directions to the agency! An attendant to help out with directions & tackling desperate criminals that want to harm Ranpo after they are identified is necessary. Since this is a past reaction I will overlook Taylor's typical Shounen statement about BSD not having action this time, but I still haven't forgiven him for making a similar statement during the Golden Kamuy reactions! Lol
This episode also shows how smart dazai is. their minds are hard to compare, but still rampo's mind is more focused on logical thinking, that's why he is perfect as a detective. dazai is a strategist, with awesome strategic thinking. there will be many moments in the anime and especially in the manga that prove it
This is a past reaction i'm just binging through so you might've been told this later on but the real life Dazai Osamu was terribly depressed, attempted suicide many times, at one time a double suicide with his wife? lover? but she died and he survived and plunged even further down, his best known work is No Longer Human and it chronicles the dissociation of a suicidal man who doesn't even see himself as a living human anymore. He died after successfully committing suicide one last time. He was a very tragic individual. Just an fyi.
Ranpo-san is by far my fav character in first season. I say that cause my fav character in second season...well anyway, yeah. He really adds an element of humor that would be missing if he was not there or a different character type.
Idk if they'll cover this specific arc with ranpo I'm the new season coming up, but the fact that he has no ability makes it even more insane what he pulled off in that arc. If you wanna know I'll put a spoiler warning below. Spoiler: Ranpo is able to solve any case as long as the evidence of it exists. But an ability user has a low level reality altering ability that erases any evidence committed in a crime. Basically his ability is to make crimes completely unsolvable. And guess what... Ranpo fucking beats this guy. He intimidated this bitch as much as his big boss, who has killed people by touching them. Let me repeat, he has countered the abilities of people who altered reality. They've even changed his memory and he still deduced how that shit was done.
I'm 100% gunna check out this show now. I like pretty much all the reactions on anime you put out, would really like to see you react to The Book of Vanitas and Rust Eater Bisco if you get a chance.
