In Russia, we don't eat unless we know this line 50-moves deep. I could win as white blindfolded.

don't worry eric, its good to get clapped vs top tier players. I am learning BJJ right now - 3 months in and I prefer getting wrecked by guys who have 30+ lbs and years of experience on me. Makes you better, keep it up.

you shouldav played bishop g5 line as you first wanted to then retreat to d2, youd have a game where youd have to make your own chances but much safer option.. anyways youre a legend!! CHESSBRAH ;P

GM Eric Hansen is young and Super GM Alexander Grischuk is a chiselled veteran -- I hope in time Eric can get to the mantel he wants to be at.

Something I don't understand is why in bullet they play openings moves in a fraction of a second like they are complete masters of the whole opening repertoire and in slower times formats they need to calculate. I mean, in this game he is out of prep at the 8th move of a french... This puzzles me.
@cameronrutherford1765
@cameronrutherford1765 2 года назад
People often have off-beat weapons against certain openings for bullet that really don’t translate to rapid. I’m not sure what Eric plays against the French in bullet, but I’m guessing it’s not the tarrasch. It’s also a lot easier to actually play theory, and punish bad moves in rapid. Playing in bullet you either don’t expect a bad move, or don’t have time to calculate when you’re out of theory. Idk if I’ve really answered your question, but it’s not as if Eric is a theoretician - there are just so many openings, and it’s hard to remember all the theory!
@cameronrutherford1765
@cameronrutherford1765 2 года назад
also people don’t really play positional chess like this in bullet - there is so much calculation involved

I don't understand why Eric doesn't learn theory? I'm sure it's a pain to learn, but I feel like he could be a top player and it would be more than worth it.

what week of the rcc are these games from? wanted to peep the commentary on them esp. the Aronian game From the looks, they're probably from before mid march as the russian flag is still visible on grishcuk's account but my detective skills are only so good lmao

You could learn/create some obscure piece of theory which might be suboptimal but at least guarantees your opponent doesn't know more theory than you while giving you plenty of options for tactics in low time.
@faznaz7455
@faznaz7455 2 года назад
This particular French line is very unpleasant though which makes your idea not so easy to achieve. Black has the long term prospects but white can navigate out of trouble with decent play.
@levkrainov
@levkrainov 2 года назад
If it was that easy everybody would do it. Hikaru had a video recently where some GM plays unknown theory and Anish knows it. Also "suboptimal" is a very tricky part, you can't pick a line that's losing too much.
@Eorzat
@Eorzat 2 года назад
Not sure if you're seriously trying to give advice to Eric or what because that's very obvious stuff that anyone above 1400 at least knows. Also, it's not so simple to just choose a sub-optimal line against super-GM because chances are that they a) know the line, or b) outplay you anyways.
@mouwersor
@mouwersor 2 года назад
@@levkrainov And Grandmasters already do this. Jut not everyone, and also not Eric (probably because it takes effort to find a suitable line).
