Aurora is incredible. This video is from P3, a Norwegian radio show where musicians show up to play one of their songs and do an interview; but when they arrive at the station they are also given a cover to perform, so she learned, arranged, and rehearsed this in less than an hour.
@@johnytwo They do it as well! Amazingly I first heard Aurora on Triple J back when Runaway came out. I think of that often, might not have been a fan from the start had I not been living in Oz back then (I'm Danish).
For me Aurora is a soul sister of Ren, the best human on the planet, story teller and soul effect, both doing things in their own way (Aurora is not independent but control all that she can) she defenitely deserve a dig in her rabbit hole 🙂

Check out Murder Song (5, 4, 3, 2, 1) - 2015 Nobel Peace Prize Concert. I've watched Cliff Beats go down the Aurora rabbit hole and it's glorious to watch other experience the spell she casts on us.
Aurora is very well known for her amazing covers, she has done around 30 covers, and in many of them she changes the songs a lot, like David Bowie - Life On Mars (best version on channel NRK), Imagine Dragons - Believer, Ariana Grande - God Is A Woman etc. etc. Several of the covers she did on this Norwegian NRK P3 radio station, and they challenge the artists that visit them to cover a song, that they choose from a list when they arrive, so they haven't prepared it in advance, they just get a limited time to prepare at the radio station. For this Rasputin cover Aurora wrote afterwards in the comments to the video, that they only rehearsed this for ~15min!! And she didn't know the song before!
I believe that, but at the same time, my brain cannot process it. She is just so insanely talented. I would be impressed if she had a month to prepare.
@@Tarkus_ You can see her looking at the lyrics just before starting to sing, and doing one extra pause at one point, where I think she almost forgot the lyrics. But yes amazing to make that cover so quickly.
@@Einyen I know, it's just crazy. Another one that blows my mind is her cover of "Believer" by Imagine Dragons. Apparently she chose the song because dragons are cool, because she didn't know that song either. It's a pretty long song, and although she has the lyrics in front of her, she has has to produce all the music and melody by herself from memory. I don't get it. 🤷♂️

Hello man! Great that you take the Aurora train. The Quirky, humble, kind, outspoken woman that have so many follower and go under the radar most of the time are otherworthly. When she speaks she talk so smooth like a lullabye and when she do a original video with her and the dancers full of blood on their bodies. she sings of a woman that murder men and have their bodyparts under the bed. She is a natureforce with energy like an mountain river and she never backoff . She is my Queen and Soulhealer . Hope this make sense. Have seen all of your Ren reactions and they are marvellous hope you get the same time with Aurora ;-)

Love this cover, her outfit was not planned to go with the song, she is authentic in her clothes, she and her sister design and make them, so, very original clothing. Nice reaction, thanks for coming back to my favorite artist.
Funny thing is that ive been fan of Aurora for over a decade, shes utterly amazing, seen her countless times live. shes an old soul filled with music, buuuuut back to the point - when i started found down the renrabbithole alittle over a year ago one thing i noticed is that Ren Also followed Aurora. Lets not forget that she looks like a hot angel also.

This is a lovley reaction. AURORA is a self-taught piano and singer. She is from norway, and she started making melodies when she was 6 years old . The words came when she was 9 or 11 years old. She is a multi talent. She can paint, dance, and make meaningful music. This new songs are very different from what we have seen of her, i recommend you to check out her older stuff first. She is in a new area, but she still sounds like her. You have to check out more of her live performances the music feels even better live because you see the art being made on the stage, and it will blow your mind everytime!! its a bit hard to give recommendations because all of her songs are beautiful but i recommend her cop26 concert she sings alot of her songs that is popular and its mostly acoustic. In that way, you also get to see her speak to the crowd and understand her as an artist and what she stands for. Aurora doesn't write about herself. She always says the music is bigger than her, and she has a longer vision about what music is and what it could do for us, it can make you dance, cry or be sad or happy. She have made a lot of songs and realised them many years after because she is realising them when she thinks the world needs it the most. Aurora is the most authentic person I think you will see in the music industry. She writes all of her songs mostly all alone. She produces them on her own terms and make her musicvideos too. Aurora herself is art. She is also very strict when it comes to her band and the people she works with she said, "I need people that don't look at the notes while playing." When she writes music, she has something to say. It has become more "political" she sings about the right to love, racism and the most important to her is mother earth as she call the world. She was mostly in the forest when she was a child all the time,alone, and she still loves it.. Her parents used a big cow bell to call her in to dinner. If you see cop26, you will understand it. When she was little, she didn't like to be with a lot of people, and she only got social media because she became an artist. She dont care about fame and has a totally other view on success than others. Us from Norway is obviously so proud of her and we think its fun thats so many can see her talent and help others to feel.she iis having a norwegian tour and people from 48 countries are coming to see her. She is just pure and so authentic. ❤
She also takes action in what she preaches about. every time we buy something of her brand, she plants a tree in South America. I have now planted 2 trees and It makes me feel good 💓 The way she speaks and her mind is out of this world... she can really change the world... I also recommend checking out the HAIK documentary and concert, but It is long, so if not for the channel, I recommend you do it by yourself because everyone should get to know Aurora! She is awesome

Bjork and Aurora are both Scandinavian, though from different countries (Iceland and Norway respectively). This was a beautiful cover, and I think Aurora does have an ethereal, otherworldly sound to her singing style. And the way she adapted this cover really lent a sort of central Asian musical feel to it. Rasputin was from Western Siberia, close to the border of Kazakhstan, so that sound feels more authentic somehow.
I saw Bjork in the front row of an AURORA concert, AURORA is probably the greatest artist in the world today. Give her any song to cover and she will do something amazing with it. Her own songs are brilliant however.
That was fun! I've watched countless reactions to this cover, and this is easily one of my favorites! I love your commentary about Rasputin himself. My knowledge of his history comes mostly from this song, but I feel like you covered it pretty well. He was a pretty bad guy, but apparently had a lot of charisma, that served him well for a long time. Aurora would be a legend if she only did covers, but her greatest talent is probably her songwriting. Wow, what a talent. I hope you share this with your boy, Anthony. 🫶
Aurora has just released 2 new songs a few weeks ago and a new album is on the horizon, not sure when it'll be released. Aurora Aksnes, 27 from Norway started forming melodies at age 6 with words coming around age 9. If you listen to her song "Runaway" live at the 2015 Nobel Peace Prize Concert, she wrote that song when she was 11. Great reaction and I hope you continue to dive into the world of Aurora's music. Bjork is one of Aurora's influences, and I agree with you about her vibe being similar. Bjork is actually a fan of Aurora. There is a mini concert Aurora did for KEXP Iceland, and Bjork was in the audience. The KEXP Iceland performance is mandatory viewing when it comes to the Aurora journey. I've seen Bjork live, and I'm pretty sure Aurora is the only person on earth that could top that concert experience.
If you are going to look in to Aurora then you must check out Wardruna and Aurora - Helvegen (Live). It is a pagan song that will change your life. You can find the leadsinger Einar Selvik songs in the Viking serie. Aurora and him together with this pagan song is breathtaking.
Aurora is out of the world in the positives way possible :) You should check out her song "The Seed". And to the other topic- as a woman I hate the stereotypical thing like 'men who cry are not real men' or 'women can't be strong or fight' and then we wonder why so many get depression or getting aggressiv of surpressed emotions. I appreciate any kind of human being that is honest and shows what they feels like. Showing your emotios and empathy without feeling ashamed of the toxic standards of society is the strongest thing one can do imho. :)

And she wrote using word rehearsal = it was a little longer probably because she needs to make conception of cover. But these chelenges was within a 1h. And I am a later source of this info. One person even asked me to point a place where it come from and I made a screenshot (still have it).
Rasputin was truly not your average Joe.He was magical.Like Russel Brand with piercing eyes.But I guess he was consumed with his power.Aurora is a gem,truly genuine
Rasputin was a monk and a preacher and a mystic, and a wizard and yeah he could do whatever he want, having sex with the queen, her daughters, her chambermaidens and everything female in the Russian palace, incluidng cats. 🤣 And yes he was a brute, he survived, gunshots, blade slashes and stabs, poisoning, and in the end when they binded hima and cast him in a frozen lake he reached the top with his binds broken, yet he didn't reach the surface fast enoigh so that was his demise, but yeah, a phenomenal -if -not-epic-level real life vilain.
There is a band from Finland called TURISAS that does a great cover of this song. If you want to hear a metal version of Rasputin you must check it out.
Yes to the Bjork comparison. They both held on to very folk-ish sounds from their respective cultures while performing their art with little care for the public's opinion. Check out Through the Eyes of a Child from her Live at Nidarosdomen Concert. I guarantee it will give you chills.

Rasputin is such a fascinating character. He was fiercely against WW1 because he was convinced that the Tsar would not survive this (Quote: "none of your children will remain alive for more than two years." (in 1916) and wanted peace with Germany. This is why he was killed. Finland, at that point of time, was part of Russia, so it is fitting that Aurora would cover this song.

Btw, I don’t know much about Rasputin but what I’ve read/heard is he was kind of a healer and the Russian queen contacted him to help her son who had hemophilia. This is just the surface level of the story

I loved this song as a kid and I’ve loved Aurora’s version for a while now, such a beautiful cover. I also love old school Bjork.. not so much her new stuff. And nope, the brutes only get us girls short term, they’re not keepers!

Bjørk is not from Norway but from Island. Bjørk has been to the KEXP concert and loved Aurora's music. funny that she subsequently came out with a new song herself. Is it a coincidence?
