He loved Roy Clark and was sure I would never be able to figure it out cause you know.... just a girl and all. Caterina Valente - Malagueña (1955) ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-SLMbmecCFlg.html is the famous one. Malagueña meaning "from Málaga", a city in Southern Spain. The lady who sings and dances, Caterina Valente, Italian-German-French, is arguably the Worlds first super star, with a singing career in half a dozen languages and on all continents. She promoted/exported the Brazilian Bossa Nova to North America, Europe and Asia. Malagueña is a Spanish folk dance. Spanish guitar, flamenco guitar, that's right. And you're right, playing this is meant to be serious business. You are allowed to clap, if you do it in time, and crying or shouting ¡Olé! is on point, too. A guitar plays, everyone else dances.

Roy Clark is an amazing musician/singer/comedian. His true music talent often gets overlooked because people think of him as just that guy from Hee Haw. However, as you see here his guitar skills are top notch. While he does play some classical music, he often gets cast as a country musician. Some recommendations of more Roy Clark: Instrumentals: 12 Street Rag (the black and white of him playing it on an electric is amazing) Duelin' Banjos (there are videos of him playing this on guitar and banjo) Orange Blossom Special (I think there is a video of him playing this on the fiddle) Singing: Thank God and Greyhound Yesterday When I was Young Folsom Prison Blues (I would recommend the duet of him and Johnny Cash for this one) This is a deep rabbit hole, but worth exploring. Also I'll mention another top guitarist who could sing and that is Glen Campbell. A great introduction of his guitar skills, is him playing the William Tell Overture. There are many videos of him playing it. It is hard to pick a bad version of it. He played it on electric and 12 string accoustical (which is insane given the speed). One thing that I find impressive about both of these guitarists is that they played with little to no distortion. Any mistake and you are going to hear it. But as you saw here, they both achieved levels of perfection that are hard to believe. Thanks for the reaction.

You are right, Roy Clark was indeed one of the greats. As was Glen Cambell. Its crazy how much raw talent existed in the 60's through the early 1980's. Some of these sounds might be replicated digitally today, but it is a rare human who can execute this at all, let alone live & in one take. Im not big on banjo music but Roy was absolutely jawdropping on a banjo too. Keep following these recommendations, you are in for a wild ride.

You are witnessing the genius that music and artists were in my day. I might be an old woman now, but the tradeoff is that I got to grow up in the middle of it all.

Look up more of Roy Clark. You will be amazed at what he can do...any kind of guitar, fiddle, banjo, mandolin, harmonica & so much more. People don't take him seriously because he's a country singer. They dismiss him. Roy can do it all sing, play many instruments, comedy. He hosted along with Buck Owens a show called "Hee Haw." One of many greats in Country Music. Along with Roy are Glenn Campbell, Jerry Reed, Chet Atkins & many others. When these guys got together is was great joy for us. They left their egos behind & enjoyed picking together. All you see is the smiles on their faces. Wait til you see what Roy can do with an electronic guitar. We saw this stuff all the time on tv. Many times on " the Hew Haw show".

An amazing entertainer. Could play any string instrument, could sing a very serious song, "Yesterday When I was Young" or funny "Thank God and Greyhound Your Gone." Saw him in concert once, he looked like he was having a ball the whole time.

Wait till my man discovers Rodrigo y Gabriela - "Tamacun" or "Hanuman". He is gonna lose his mind, especially a live version where he can see Gabriela play. Her "percussion style" of play still baffles me and I've been playing for 30 years. B.P. , if you watch her play, watch her right hand. As it strums the rhythm, she is hitting the body of the guitar to mimmick the drums. So she is essentially playing 2 instruments simultaneously

Malagueña" (Spanish pronunciation: [malaˈɣeɲa], from Málaga) is a song by Cuban composer Ernesto Lecuona. It was originally the sixth movement of Lecuona's Suite Andalucía (1933), to which he added lyrics in Spanish. We are watching Roy play 4 different guitars and drums without switching instruments.
