In my .02 Erik is freeking CRUSHING it as their replacement. Bas was simply great back in the day, but we all (If we are lucky) get old. Erik re=ignited the band and they are as good as ever now.
@@eriklarson9137 Eric just left the band, they have a female singer now. In the studio writing/recording their next album right now. (Lzzy Hale of HALESTORM)
What so many people don’t realize about those bands is that they weren’t just make up, big hair, and spandex. Those dudes were hardcore, serious, and great musicians and vocalists.
Verses are not repetitive! Hooks and choruses are!!! But I know where it coming from. Music back then definitely had a lot more meaning than a lot of songs nowadays!
@@allendionnelastcall3749 sebastian bach has taken voice lessons his whole career! I think you're confusing him with David Draiman who was trained as a singer in a church and did one of the best covers of all time check out disturbed sound of silence on conan o'brien and see how he does with the flu and still sang.
He took opera to strengthen his voice also. He also sang on broadway. He ruined his career he threw a bottle at a person in the audience and it hurt a girls face and it literally was the end of skid row.
He did not sing Opera until he was older. He started singing in Skid Row when he was 16/17. He was not very old when this song came out mid 20s or younger.
Not only was he a beauty to look at, his voice was outstanding. Everyone ripped on 80s hair metal but now they're looking back at greatness. Listen to 18 and Life next. You're welcome.
YES!!! If only I had realized those were THE good ol’ days while I was living them. Of course, I was a kid, wishing my life away thinking adulthood would be so much more fun. Joke was on me
Im 63 years young but still stuck in the 70s and 80s...it was the best era ever ! Wish it was still them times.best music ever..best of times...awesome memories
People really do not even realize that just about all lead singers in hair/metal/rock bands are spectacular singers with terrific voice ranges 💯 ROCK ON 🔥🔥🔥 💥
The lead singer of Skid Row in this video was Sebastian Bach. Skid Row initially formed in the mid-1980s with lead vocalist Matt Fallon fronting the group, and they began playing at various clubs around the New Jersey area. Fallon left the band in 1987, leaving Skid Row in search of a lead vocalist. Bach was spotted singing at rock photographer Mark Weiss's wedding by Jon Bon Jovi's parents, who subsequently approached him and suggested he get in touch with their son's friend, Dave Sabo, who was looking for a lead vocalist for his band.
In an interview he says that the members of Skid Row were at thst wedding. He went up on stage and sung a few Lepplin songs and they asked him to be in the band.
Not me screaming “SEBASTIAN BACH” Sebastian Bach has the prettiest scream ever, I was obsessed with that beautiful man as a teen…gotta check out 18 and life
Did you ever see Jesper Binzer from DAD (Disneyland After Dark)? -He had a similar look when he was young and he is an awesome but more gritty vocalist! They are still touring since the 80ies! -Check their song Bad Craziness to see what I mean... :)
Back when singers REALLY sounded like this live in concert because there was no auto tune. They were music artists who put on great performances-not lip sinking performers.
People tend to forget Sebastian Bach was 18 or 19 when he recorded those vocals. His manager used to call him "the kid with the golden lungs." After Skid Row, he did a couple of stints on Broadway as the lead in Jekyll and Hyde and Riff Raff in The Rocky Horror Picture Show.
❤If you were a teen girl in the 80s.You definitely knew this was Sebastian Bach, Hair Bands/GlamMetal, they all had amazing hair and we all had their posters on our bedroom walls !! Skid Row, Bon Jovi, Def Leppard, Slaughter, Winger, The Nelson Twins. Brett Michaels and Poison ... The angelic voice of SteeleHeart The Hair Band era would be a cool rabbit hole for you to go down - lots of great music
I had all those posters on my walls, plus quite a few more. Skid Row is part of the soundtrack of my youth. I had such a crush on Sebastian ❤ 18 and life should be your next one.
Name:Sebastian Bach Country:Canada, now in Unites States Vocal Type:Lyrical Tenor Range:5 octaves (D2-(A5-A6)) Sebastian Bach(solo,ex-Skid Row) is one of the best Hard Rock vocalists ever. His operatic inflection makes him reach notes untouchable for almost everyone, make though modulations and also sing as Alto.
The cleanest and clearest vocalist up and down the scale in my opinion is Miljenko Matijević of SteelHeart! I do love Sebastian also though. “I‘ll Never Let You Go”, “She’s Gone”, and “Can’t Stop Me Lovin’ You” are unbelievable. I usually use the rule that Miljenko Matijević can sing pretty much anyone else’s songs, but very few, if any can sing his. The ones covering him today on RU-vid are using a lot of reverb and AI, as in Pitch Correction and Auto Tune. That stuff didn’t exist back then. The Music Industry needs to get on the stick and start labeling any music that uses Pitch Correction and Auto Tune. “I’ll Never Let You Go” - SteelHeart ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-F-nyeiKk35M.htmlsi=_wGgVdekoX_KllPZ
@stevenewcomer8837 just watched the video that you posted. It's good, but I like how smooth Sebastian's vocals are. Like I said before, he's arguably the greatest cuz it really comes down to preference of sound and you could argue the case in either direction. Other dude was really good though.
@@moshpitgod6536 yeah it’s all preference. I love Sebastian’s voice also. I think some of my “bias” towards Mili is the fact that he never had the opportunity to shine and get his due. He had a tragic stage accident in Denver on Halloween night in 1992 touring for their second album that nearly killed him when a non secured 1,000# lighting truss fell hitting him in the back of his head driving him face first into the stage breaking his nose, jaw, cheekbone (the hardest bone in the human body), and causing traumatic brain injury. This screeched his career to a stop and ended the momentum that they had coming off their debut album. Who knows what great music we lost because of that. After all of that, and there was even more bad luck later, Mili is a positive and great guy.
In his prime he was greatest rock vocalist of all time. In my opinion. He was always my number one since I was a kid. His voice was absolutely amazing.
This song would be a hit in any era, it is just that good. Moreover, i think at some point in our life we all have lived the words of this beautifully written song.
Mind blowing vocals. He was the love of my 16 year old life in 1989 😂 Some faves are - in a darkened room - wasted time -quicksand Jesus - 18 and life - I remember you -youth gone wild - monkey business
YES!!! Literally EVERY one of those songs is a AMAZING!!!😃Sebastian was my teenage heart throb as well...I was obsessed with Sebastian & Skid Row too!🎶🔥✌
❤ 89 was my Senior Year in Highschool, didn't have much of a life between school and work. MTV was my escape, I'd stop everything to watch and hear him. ❤❤❤
I used to play this on my Walkman while doing my paper route at 6am singing it for the neighborhood. I'm only 47, but man when this came out it was huge! Everyone loved it! It was guns and roses, and skid row! 🤘 I still drive a camaro and am still a tattood bad ass! My childhood was the shit!!!
Not only that he had a beautiful voice, Bach was tall and more beautiful than most women, including his ex gfs. He was eye candy! This one ‘s a classic.
Sebastian Bach was classically trained. 18 and Life, Wasted Time, Youth Gone Wild major hits. You really did miss some amazing music in the 80s. It was an awesome time to be a teenager and just rock out to amazing music in your car on your way to school or concerts. Kids today are so deprived of actual music. No auto tune just pure talent. I hope you continue your musical journey.
He also has a new album and I just saw him live 2 weeks ago! I haven't seen SR since I was 13. I'm 45 now! He is still certainly relevant and sounds great! What a beautiful voice and beautiful man! I love that he is always unapologetically himself! People hate that don't they!? 😊
His real name is Sebastian Phillip Bierk. He changed his name to Bach when he joined Skid Row. He is currently a solo artist after he was let go in 1996. I was lucky enough to see him in Skid Row in 1996 before he left the band. He has a new album out now too!
No freaking way! He does? I met Sebstian when I was 21. He looked so huge to me then. I'm 5'10 and I know he is 6'3. But when he walked in? He looked like he was almost 7 ft tall. To this very day, I can't help but crack up and laugh myself silly at what I said to him. And I will NEVER forget his response. I told him that my mom said I could keep him under my bed. I stood there my face purple from embarrassment because that was not even close to what I wanted to say. I wanted to tell him my thoughts...About his voice, etc. How I felt, how hearing his voice made me feel, how it touched me (not being weird but genuinely). But....NOPE! My brain/mouth had other ideas. He looked up at me, saw my face and genuinely laughed, then said you're adorable. Signed the CD and asked if I was coming to the concert. I unfortunately could not and said so, that I had to work and was supposed to be at work but I snuck out to meet him. And....Because I respected him (meaning I didn't paw at him like others did), he got up and gave me a real hug. No prompting, nothing. Not a one arm half hug. A full on both arms around me bear hug. He smelt like Cinnamon, musk, beer, and tobacco. As it was I had to sneak out of work because the whole am boss went back on her word that I could take off and just come in after I was done. She left 2nd shift boss who looked like death warmed over. So, the 3 others (myself, my mom, and the new hire who had been there a week) made her leave. Then, I called out and snuck out. That new hire waited 10 min and called me back in. So, I got paid while waiting to meet him.
Finally…. The face, the voice and the hair. Sebastian Bach is just beautiful in the best way. Yes, he was a Viking and as a 55 year old female he remains my ultimate fav Viking.
Their first album was released in 1989.Skid Row passed the glam period of the 80's.At 56 Sebastian Bach can still hit that range. Other Skid Row "Youth Gone Wild" "Wasted Time" "18 and Life" If you want to hear more of Skid Row.Every rock band has to put out a power ballad for radio play, videos on MTV,boost record sells,& to appeal more to a female audience
Yep, Sebastian Bach recalled the formula in an interview (it was a metal doc, maybe the Penelope Spheeris one?) that the release was: First, rocker/banger; Second, power ballad. Every time.
The appeal to the female audience was quite apparent when I went to see Skid Row open for Bon Jovi back in '89; there were tatas being flashed for Sebastian all over the stadium... he even had some of them spotlighted 🤣🤣
Hey from Australia & I'm only in my mid-late 40's yet this band & song transports me back to some of my fondest memories of a time when we were fearless and invincible! We lived, loved & played hard all on a journey of self discovery! Awesome times & what I'd give to do it all over again! ❤️
1 of the greatest songs and bands of the 80s!! Sebastián Bach went from a church choir boy to 80s bad boy heartthrob. I had posters of him all over my room. He was absolutely stunning back then
Sebastian Bach is the original singer of skid row. Still making music on his own after he was kicked out of Skid Row. He's a great singer and cool guy. Met him many times. In my photo is me and Sebastian Bach in NC.
There are very few rock singers that can touch Sebastian Bach. Steven Tyler from Aerosmith, Ronnie James Dio, the great Freddie Mercury from Queen, Gary cherone from Extreme, and Geoff Tate from queensryche
@@matheya I don't know anyone that can hit higher notes than Justin Hawkins from The Darkness...also the darkness still perform these days and justin hawkins vocals haven't changed at all surprised he can still hit all those notes. They got some love ballads too like growing on me, love is only a feeling & heart explodes... all great songs
In my opinion, this was the only song that really showcased Bach's vocal talent. I never cared all that much for the rest of Skid Row's music. Thanks for the reaction vid! I'm new here
Sebastian Bach is a classically trained singer. He has a clear, beautiful voice but usually sings hard rock, heavy metal. He was married to Ace Frehley's (lead guitarist for KISS) daughter for a while.
No, Skid Row died when Bas left the band. It was a creative control thing between he and the two founders of the band. Skid Row is still around, but have never been as successful as they were with Bas. Bas is still around, too, still trying to recapture the success he had with them. Neither fully recovered from their split. Sadly, because together these guys were fire! This song always, always, ALWAYS gives me goosebumps. Their song "Youth Gone Wild" was the ANTHEM of my youth! We lived it! And we loved it! :)
It's Sebastian Bach. I had the biggest crush on him as a teen and spotted him going into the Dollhouse on the strip in Ft. Lauderdale where I was born. I screamed his name from my car, and he turned, smiled and waved at me. I flat out swooned. 😂😂😂😂 I was 16 in my red convertible Renault Alliance. Edit: React to Wasted Time. It's off the chain amazing! And yes, his voice is amazing and on a different level. Obsessed with this song and the band. ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
You are reliving my youth. Sebastian Bach. I have seen skid row. to their first tour U.S seen them over 40 times . Never left disappointed. Meaning= You stop every plan for that day, the following day if you could. It's his voice that is soon attacking. Listen to more of his records. It will blow you away. he's still around. Praying for a new tour schedule any time soon. He's got it all. including marriage and family . Gotta really hold as to he's human as we are. Life on the roads wears on anyone. He'll make a comeback. Luv's stay safe out there.
I promise to watch every single reaction you do for Sebastian Bach. This was the original BAZ that so many fangirls fell in love with. He and the other band members had a falling out so he went solo but never really had the same success. He has performed on Broadway and several TV shows. Please do check out all the other Skid Row hits listed, but if you want a real treat, you should see Sebastian Bach & Duff McKagan (Of GNR) perform "Patience". It was at a private event in 2015 and just amazing.
Sebastian Bach is still touring. I had the pleasure of seeing Skid Row in concert twice, both times Pantera opened for them. Best time of my life, even with some jack wagon trying to throw an M80 on the stage and injuring a bunch of people in the crowd. The band visited all the people who got injured and took them out to dinner.
I have loved Skid Row for years! Yes it's Sebastian Bach. I've seen them in concert opening for Poison. One of my favorite bands and this is my favorite song from them.
You are correct, however one singer that I think is as good or a little better is the late great Brad Delp. How Brad hits the high notes on More than a feeling is phenomenal. Just my opinion. 💯😬
