I love CSN & sometimes Y! Lol. I saw CSN perform 3 times. Such beautiful harmony. They have some great songs, didn't they. "Our House," "Guinevere," "Love the one you're with," "Southern Cross," "Suite Judy Blue Eyes" and "Ohio." RIP David Crosby ❤
@@The1Mommalau I saw CSN a few years ago in Los Angeles. Glad I got to see them, they are among my favorites. At the encore, they played a song or two, then they said they were going to bring out a special guest. I and everyone around thought it was going to be Neil Young, but it was Tom Petty. For me, it was even better because I had seen Neil twice but never Petty. RIP Crosby, Petty.
Harmonies + talent = joy! Autotune and computers do not replace talent and hard work. The Hollies were part of the British Invasion in the 60's and had many hits!
Do you think BP will react to "He ain't heavy, he's my brother" if we mention it often enough? There again, he may not react to "He ain't heavy, he's my brother" even if we mention it several times in the comments. 🤔
Absolutely love this song, The Hollies were an amazing 1960/mid1970s band, and this song is fabulous, it was released in 1974. They had loads of hits and were often on Top of the Pops in the UK. Another favourite is 'Long Cool Woman in a Black Dress', it's got a great beat and vibe! Another fabulous song from 1969 is called 'He Ain't Heavy, He's My Brother, it's so beautiful.😊😊
This is all about the mature love a man feels for his woman. They have made love and although she has fallen asleep he is still awake he is looking at her in the darkened room feeling perfectly at peace from the love she brings to him. Thanks for the great reactions!!!
Thank you for the perfect description of what the song is about! Poor Don! He brings a beautiful song about the beauty of mature love, and BP goes to naughty town! Lol 😂😂
There are no love songs like this anymore. Nor bands, singers, or talent for that matter. We were so lucky to have been around for the birth of music like this.
I love the Hollies , you must listen to " HE AINT HEAVY HES MY BROTHER " GRAHAM NASH PLayed in the Hollies before JOINING [ CROSBY STILS NASH ] and sometimes NEIL YOUNG ❗️
I remember Graham Nash from his time with the Hollies, they had so many hits in the 1960s and mid 1970s. And then Graham Nash went to America and the rest is history!! 😊😊
@@annemaclean6634Joni Mitchell sure enjoyed his being in America! Have you ever heard of Joni Mitchell? She wrote a lot of hits but she never had a hit record of her own. She wrote the song Clouds and she also wrote the song Woodstock which became a big hit for Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young. CSNY is another great group that you have yet to play on your show. You have played a Buffalo Springfield song about the Kent State University riots and the person who died. I think you did anyway. I will have to search for it.
@@rosemaryabbott1020 Hi there, certainly have heard of Joni Mitchell, she had a big hit in the UK with her song 'Big Yellow Taxi', in 1970 or 1971. I also remember 'Clouds' and 'Woodstock', a very talented lady. 😊😊
@@rosemaryabbott1020 Yes I know, that's why I said she's a very talented lady, such a great songwriter and performer. I saw on Google that she's now 80 years old.😊😊
Every time I hear this song, all I picture is Alfalfa singing it to Darla in the movie The Little Rascals! 😆 Long cool woman in a black dress is one of my favorite songs by them!
The lead singer is Allan Clarke. In the late 1960s I was 14/15 years old and had a huge crush on Allan Clarke. He left the band in 1999 due to major issues with his vocal cords. He was from Salford/Manchester, about 10 miles from my home town. I feel that The Hollies are underrated. They have some fantastic songs in their catalog.
Long Cool Woman is a great one and of course He Ain't Heavy. They have been around since the 60s...sooooo many great songs. Alan Clarke is the lead singer.
This song was recorded at a slightly faster speed than what you hear. The machine they played it back on in the studio was slightly off speed, but they liked the result so much that the song was released at the slower speed.
The Hollies, "The Group's Group" . Generally relied on to studio take in an afternoon about an hour per track, or less. Singles include "Bus Stop", "Stop. Stop, Stop", "On a Carousel", " Jennifer Eccless "( all with Graham Nash doing harmony), - then a full album of Bob Dylan songs Sorry Suzanne (first performance after Graham left for Crosby Stills Nash and Young), with Terry Sylvester (ex Swingin Blue Jeans), then onto this track/ long cool woman / he aint heavy hes my brother. )
My mother named me after a song from 1968 by the Hollies. Carrie Ann. The lyrics are wildly accurate.. 😂 At least when I was younger.. They were sadly. I love oldies. The music back then had so much more substances than most of todays music.. Great choice for a reaction!❤🎶🎵🎸❤ PS. My first child was created listening to Steve Miller Band in 1985.
Alan Clarke is the lead singer of The Hollies. I loved this group growing up in the 1960's one of best Manchester bands around at the time and yes you must listen to He Ain't Heavy He's My Brother a beautiful song with a meaningful message of loving and caring for each other. Former guitarist and singer with The Hollies, Graham Nash went on to be part of Crosby Stills Nash and Young
This song can be sung to your child as a lullaby. It’s not always about sex. A Love that gives you PEACE. Loving your child is peaceful. Sing it to your grandma.
You need to try The Hollies song Jennifer Eccles, Just One Look, Long Cool Woman in a Black Dress, On A Carousel, Bus Stop & Carrie Ann these are some of my favorite songs of this group. The group is from England, one of the band members is Graham Nash who went on to form the group Crosby Stills Nash & Young.
Two of the Hollies, Graham Nash and Allan Clarke are from my home city of Salford near Manchester. They went to the boys' grammar school next to the girls' school I went to. So proud of their homegrown talent, fantastic band from my teenage years. This is an amazing track. Graham Nash joined David Crosby and Stephen Stills to form Crosby Stills and Nash and he was romantically linked with Joni Mitchell. Very much involved in the Laurel Canyon scene. The Hollies still tour, Tony Hicks and Bobby Elliott being the original members.
@@KoreyVerga The Air that I Breathe was not written by the Hollies. It was written by songwriters Albert Hammond and Mike Hazlewood. The song was recorded initially by Albert Hammond for his It Never Rains in California album.
I was watching you two swaying to this song and then realized that I was swaying to the same song with you. 😊 It’s such a warm fuzzy blanket tune. Great reaction! Definitely a must listen is He Ain’t Heavy He’s My Brother!
This is the ultimate poetry to the woman that he loves ... He's telling her that that's all he needs is her and nothing else Okay, you really need to watch the Bay City rollers! If you have never watched them before you've got to watch them... They made The best skating songs back in the '70s! Fun and light-hearted...
As noted in the comments, this song was written by Albert Hammond, who turned 80 yrs old back on May 18th. The song apears on his debut solo album, "It Never Rains in Southern California" from 1972. The title track to this album was a massive hit back in the day. Another great song of his is "The Free Electric Band." This guy is an incredibly prolific, gifted songwriter. His co-writing credits alone incude, "Nothing's Gonna Stop Us Now" by Starship (remember that one 😊), "One Moment In Time" by Whitney Houston, "To All The Girl's I've Loved Before" a duet by Julio Iglesias & Willie Nelson, and "When I Need You" by Leo Sayer. Btw, his son, Albert Hammond Jr, is the guitarist for American garage rock band, the Strokes! Totally different sound from dad, but also great! Check out their debut album "Is This It" from 2001. Awesome music if you need to release any pent up frustrations! 😬
The Hollies had so many great hits..their style changed over the years as they matured, as did many other bands, including the Beatles..from bubble gum pop to beautiful ballads. Who all remembers the song "Bus Stop" by the Hollies from the 60's?. Nope, I'm definitely not afraid to show my age, I'll be 70 in July, and we boomers grew up with the best music that still stands the test of time.
Hoooray! Thank you so much for listening! Was great to see your reaction to hearing a classic tune! Looking forward to more reactions to come. ~be well~
AWWWW - THE HOLLIES are AWESOME!! I think ya'll will enjoy a LOT Of their songs!! He Ain't Heavy He's My Brother & Bus Stop are two of my FAVS (and, The Air That I Breathe) - all are SO GOOD!! HUGS!
This became my favorite song not long after my mother and I moved to Santa Cruz in the Summer of 1973. The '73-'74 school year was my Senior year of high school, and I just couldn't get enough of this song. That lasted until I heard "More Than A Feeling" by Boston, in the Summer of 1976 (while I was in college.)
Allen Clarke grew up in Salford, Manchester UK. His great school mate was Graham Nash, and they developed a natural ability to sing harmony together. You can hear it in the choruses. As has been pointed out, Graham left & went to America, where he joined up with Steve Stills & David Crosby [ and latterly Neil Young ] to form the Crosby, Stills Nash [ & Young] vocal harmony group.
YES! I LOVE The Hollies! This is music from when I was a little girl. I heard their songs on the radio and I have loved them ever since. I love this song and especially love "He Ain't Heavy He's My Brother" and "Long Cool Woman" is such a cool song!!!
My all time fav group, they had so many amazing songs, in fact they had more hits than the beatles, it was just the beatles sold more records, just luving ur reactions. ❤❤❤ it's the 3 way harmony that's made them so special.
The lead singer for most of the Hollies career was Allan Clarke. He's singing lead here as well as on other Hollies greats like "He Ain't Heavy, He's My Brother", "Long Cool Woman in A Black Dress, "Don't Let Me Down", "Bus Stop", and many more. These guys are one of 2 groups that started in the British Invasion in the 1960's and are still going today (no breakups). The other group is the Rolling Stones. Also, Grahm Nash, of "Crosby, Stills & Nash" fame, got his start with this group.
That was popular when I was in high school. I used to practice my shorthand by taking the song down as it played. 👍🏻👍🏻 Long Cool Woman in a Black Dress is really good.
This is one of my 1974 summer beach songs. I turned 20 that July. I'm from Chicago and my friiends and I used to go to Hollywood Beach on Lake Michigan every Saturday. Someone always brought a transister radio. A few other songs I remember are "Star Baby" by the Guess Who, "The Night Chicago Died" by Paper Lace and "Beach Baby" by The First Class". Great memories and it seems like yesterday. Can't believe I'm turning 70 next month.
I LOVE this song. The Air That I Breathe and He Ain’t Heavy He’s My Brother are two of the greatest ballads of the rock era. They have other hits, including the great Long Cool Woman in a Black Dress, but those two are special.
