The Hollies got their start in the 1960's and were part of the original British Invasion. They are one of the longest lasting bands from that era, continuously staying together, and going strong, for more than 50 years. I believe the Rolling Stones are the only other band that can make this claim. Truely one of the greats.

Born August 1960 I had the pleasure of being a teen in the 70s To me the 70s was the best decade, for music period. Rock-'n'-roll and Country. I would start a list, but it would take days. I would mow grass, wash cars do little odd jobs, to make money to buy a albums. Times were simple back then.

Me too. April 1960. I live in Canada, because of historical long ties with the British Commonwealth, we had more cultural exposure to Europe and the rest of the world including music. I would go to a second hand record store where I could trade, buy and sell records. I found Albums from mostly the UK that most of my friends weren't listening to until 5 years later, and some they never did hear about. I also took music lessons from 1965 to 1978 and fell in love with Progressive Rock and ended up co-founding a prog rock band of no consequence in 1980. Plus I grew up in Calgary Alberta Canada which is the largest city closest to BC Bud which grows the best Marijuana in the World. I've been retired for 9 years, married to a professional woman, no kids, no needs, still a long hair old fart. Just chilling, trying to make sense of the world, making light fixtures out of dead bicycle parts and frames.🎶 ✌️👉🍁🎶

What makes this song even sweeter is that it seems to be written from a standpoint that his love is asleep or falling asleep. So she isn't hearing his loving thoughts. " So sleep silent angel- go to sleep". Too many times emotions are expressed looking for a reaction or reciprocation. The feelings of love in this song always hit as pure love because these emotions/lyrics were coming from internal thoughts. Thanks as always for the great reactions!

The Hollies brought a new and fresh sound in the late 1960s and early 1970s... They had so many great songs... In my opinion they were all bangers and you can't go wrong listening to any one of them...One of my personal favorites was "Carrie Ann"... On a more personal note, I love watching reactors your age enjoying the music that I grew up with and thought was wonderful... I'm 67 years old today but during the time that the Hollies were singing I was in my mid teens enjoying their music...It helps to insure me that all this great music that I listened to as a young man will still be enjoyed for generations to come...Great reaction, guys...see you on the next one...Keep Being Awesome !!!...

The song is about a guy whose every desire is fulfilled by the woman he loves. His list of things he can live without as long as he has her love: cigarettes, sleep, light, sound, food, books. Albert Hammond (who wrote the song) said the inspiration for the song: "I just fell in love with a girl," he said. "We had some kind of short affair. I just fell in love so bad, I guess I needed to be with my family. I was so lonely in Los Angeles." So he moved to LA for a girl, but the song isn't really about her - it's more inspired by the loneliness he felt living there and his longing to be back with loved ones in a familiar place - he learned that in Los Angeles, everyone has a car and there's no mingling in the streets like there is in New York.

Hi Guys, Great choice from a brilliant British band. They made a name for themselves using 3 part harmonies in their vocals for the most part, and still do today, although with some different personnel. I saw them in Ipswich UK last year, and they didn't disappoint, but how could they? They stated that the 2 original members still with them, Tony Hicks lead Guitar and Bobby Elliott Drums, have toured each year since 1962. Not bad eh? Like others who've commented, I'd definitely suggest He ain't Heavy he's my brother, Bus stop or Look through any window. Buy Stop, Stop, Stop is a bit different. Keep up the great reactions, and we will keep watching them.

The Hollies came from Manchester in England and had many, many hits in the UK. They were known for their soaring harmonies. Graham Nash was a member of the band before becoming part of Crosby, Still and Nash.

If you've listened to Creep there's a reason this sounds familiar. Wiki: The English rock band Radiohead reused the chord progression and melody of "The Air That I Breathe" for their 1992 song "Creep". After Rondor Music, the publisher of "The Air That I Breathe", took legal action, Hammond and Hazlewood received cowriting credits and a percentage of the royalties. Hammond said Radiohead were honest about having reused the composition, and so he and Hazlewood accepted only a small part of the royalties. Gorgeous song , beautifully sung, played, arranged and produced.

Love this group. The Hollies are a British pop rock group formed in 1962 & known for their great harmonies. They had so many hit songs such as "Bus Stop", "Stop Stop Stop", "He Ain’t Heavy, He’s My Brother", "On A Carousel", "Carrie Anne", "Here I Go Again", "Look Through Any Window", "King Midas In Reverse", "Jennifer Eccles", "Long Cool Woman In A Black Dress" etc. "Graham Nash" was originally in this group & left in 1968 to form "Crosby, Stills & Nash".
