On The End Of The Line Video you see Tom, Bob, Jeff and George performing and Roy’s guitar is sitting in a rocking chair that is rocking through the song putting him there in spirit as he had just passed
Dude with the hat was Tom Petty next to him was Bob Dylan. Roy had the black hair and pony tail. Dude singing the main lines was George Harrison. Big dude with the sunglasses and curly hair was Jeff Lynne from ELO.
Right after George passed, I listened to Here Comes the Sun (Beatles song that he sings lead vocals on). I mean, REALLY listened to it… no distractions, no wandering thoughts, just focused completely on the song. The tears started flowing and wouldn’t stop. It’s wild how music can do that to you when you *really* listen. Give Me Love (Give Me Peace on Earth) is another great one by George. That one makes me cry too 😆😩 The man just wrote absolutely beautiful songs 😊❤️
Here comes the Sun is one of the most fantastic, amazing, emotional, joyous, touching songs that I have ever heard. It makes me cry sometimes too. Sometimes it makes me feel sad when things aren’t going well and I so much want things to get better. I completely understand you. That’s what music does. 🎶 🎶🎶♥️♥️
This is one of the very few supergroups where the ego of each member didn't play a part on the break-up. Roy's passing was one of the reasons for George's decision to shut the project down. After all, he was the best singer of them all. You should give Orbison's music a chance. He was hell of a singer, overshadowed by The Beatles and Elvis. Harrison put him back on the road in the 80's. Unfortunately, death had other plans for the man.
George Harrison would probably get a big kick out of your not knowing who he was. He never seemed to give a crap about fame , just the music. These great guys playing in a band having fun making great music. Perfection
George? Come on dude read the effin album liner credits for beatles albums. Geez they told him what and how to play; the songs were thought up and written by john and paul 99% of their catalog. Ps. Who was your favorite monkee😂😂😂
The story is... George and Jeff are in LA going to lunch, Jeff calls Roy and says cone meet George, Record Co calls George, need a b side for a single, now need a studio and all are booked, call Bob, hey can we use your garage studio, Roy tags along, George has to stop at Tom's house to get his guitar, Tom tags along, they get to Bob's, what do we write about, George sees a box with a sticker "Handle With Care" is born
Roy Orbison, George Harrison, Bob Dylan, Tom Petty, and Jeff Lynne and Jim Kiltner the drummer. There are 3 generations in this group! They are my favorite super group. I don't think any of them look alike, but I've known and listened to each of them since I was a little girl. (cough cough in the early 70's)
So fumy to me (but I'm 50 and old now) that the guy you two struggled the most to identify is from the most famous rock n roll band that inspired most of those to follow. Excellent reaction vid, guys. Thanks!
Including inspiring Jeff Lynne. ELO is the most "Beatles" that a 70s band can be without being the Beatles. George called Jeff specifically to help produce his solo album in the 80s.
Roy Orbison will always be my GOAT. hey....a beautiful person who suffered the most tragic of lives... even Elvis said he had the best voice in music ever. A true legend, and a gentleman... not a cheating self-centred narcissist. Roy was and always will be my hero... please check out 'I drove all-night'....it will destroy your brain, ultra talented human being. X
I didn't grow to appreciate him until a few years ago when ventriloquist Terry Fator with his singing turtle won AGT covering Crying. To accomplish all that Roy did with everything that he went through was amazing. I've watched the video for End of the Line numerous times and it makes me sad everytime I do. A little side note, the founder of Texas Roadhouse had a guy that done murals and paintings that were local to each restaurants location. The last time I ate at Hendersonville location before they moved, I was sitting at the bar, looked up in one corner was a painting of the aardvark mascot riding a motorcycle dressed all in black right in front of The House Of Cash museum, and the opposite corner he was wearing the glasses driving a pink Cadillac convertible license plate on front said "Pretty Woman". I just thought that was kinda neat because even though he is iconic, I just haven't seen many things like that devoted to him like you do Elvis or Cash or someone like that
Bob Dylan does sing part of the pre-chorus. "Everybody...got somebody...to lean on" - his voice is more nasal, and very distinct. If you want a great storyteller song by Dylan, "Tangled Up In Blue" is the way to go. He and George Harrison's voices are MILES apart. Dylan has never been known as a vocalist so much, but more of a songwriter that sings.
Bob’s son Jakob Dylan is a way better singer but you can hear hime sound like his father in some parts of songs with his band the Wallflowers From that group the biggest hit is One Headlight
If you react to Traveling Wiburys song End of the Line. Just know that Roy is not in the video. He sang on the song but died of a heart attack at 52 shortly before the video was made. So in tribute, when you hear Roy's voice, you will see a black and white photo of Roy and Roy's guitar in a rocking chair. It was a sweet way to include him in the video.
You forgot the Beatle 😆 George Harrison sung lead on this but Roy Orbison was the MVP here. You should look into Roy Orbison's story, it's incredibly sad. End Of The Line next but Orbison had passed by then for the video.
Great reaction! Guys, don't feel bad about not knowing who is who, especially if this wasn't your principal style of music you followed! For myself, my parents listened to A LOT of 50's/60's rock, and my mom LOVED Roy Orbison. I loved the Beatles, listened to Bob Dylan & ELO & Tom Petty - so I was familiar with the whole group off the bat - I was 10 when this album came out. This is THE supergroup of all supergroups...as the list indicated, and with good reason. The album had two songs which highlighted each of the 5 members. So if you're up for it, I'd check out: Last Night (Tom Petty); Tweeter & The Monkey Man (Bob Dylan); You're Not Alone (Roy); Rattled (Jeff Lynne) and another MUST is End Of The Line (Harrison)
Lead singer on this is >>>George Harrison!!! Superbly supported by the great >>>Roy Orbison The hat >>>Tom Petty, next to him >>>Bob Dylan Other with glasses & curly hair >>>Jeff Lynne
Another super group, Damn Yankees - Ted Nugent, Tommy Show(Styx), Jack Blade(Night Ranger), and Michael Cartellone(played for Lynyrd Skynyrd later) Formed in 1989. High Enough (made it to #3) and Where You Goin' Now, Top 40 hits in the 90's. Great guitars and singing on these songs. Enjoyed the reaction on Traveling Wilburys.
Their live performance on RU-vid of "Come Again" IMO is the best kickass guitar jamming i've ever seen. Tommy's vocals and Ted's badass guitar playing just fire!!! Damn Yankees is my fav super group - but I love Traveling Wilburys, too.
The guy you were saying is Bob Dylan is former Beatles George Harrison. Dylan is the guy with curly hair with no beard. Jeff Lynne is the other guy with curly hair with sunglasses and beard. Tom Petty wears the hat. No, none of them looks alike. They are the greatest super group! made up of friends who happen to be superstars in their own right. Put together by Harrison, he brought in Jeff Lynne and Dylan. Lynne brought in Orbison and Petty. The drummer is Jim Keltner, one of the best studio session drummers. Among his credits are playing drums on recordings by former Beatles: Harrison, Ringo Starr and John Lennon and many others.
I'm conflicted is funny. I saw the look in the eyes when you saw Dylan. im sure you know by now it was George Harrison of the Beatles. Great reaction!!!
' John ' Oates ' 5 Guys ' (* & 1 drummer?) Starts off with - George Harrison ( verses) / steel guitar - Roy Orbison (* pre-pre chorus) - Tom Petty & Bob Dylan (* harmonica) Pre-chorus ... R.i.P.: - Roy Orbison - George Harrison - Tom Petty No H8ers, Just different options on other's point of view " DEUCES! " ✌🏻😸✌🏻
Please do their other big song....."End of the Line".....i prefer that one, but love this one.....btw. next time you're not sure which one is Bob, just follow the nose....very distinguishable......lol....this was after Roy died.... 😢
The Lead Singer was ONLY a member of the biggest group in Rock and Roll history, The Beatles. His name was George Harrison (RIP), along with Roy Orbison (RIP), Tom Petty (RIP), Bob Dylan and Jeff Lynn from the Electric Light Orchestra (ELO). This is not ONE of the biggest Super Groups, it is THE SUPERGROUP of all time. Period. End of story.
I AGREE!!! UNBELIEVABLE that they don't know GEORGE HARRISON of THE BEATLES!!! I guess they never heard of THE BEATLES either, and then to look at him and think it was Tom Petty and then Bob Dylan!!! When Bob comes in view, they don't even recognize HIM, thinking GEORGE is Bob! GOOD GRIEF!
The guy you think is Bob Dylan is actually George Harrison, and to be fair i think him and Bob Dylan look alot alike in this video. The curly haired guy with the shades is Jeff Lynne of ELO.
The only supergroup I would put ahead of Tge Travelling Wilburys would have been The Highwaymen!! Johnny Cash, Willie Nelson, Waylon Jennings and Kris Kristofferson.
YOU GUYS HAVE TO DO ( END OF THE LINE ) WHICH YOU'LL SEE AN EMPTY CHAIR WITH ROY'S GUITAR, A FRAMED PHOTO OF ROY, AND THEY'RE ON A TRAIN, GREAT TRIBUTE TO ROY FROM THE GUYS AND JUST A GREAT SONG 😊ROY HAD PASSED ON DURING THE MAKING OF IT. 😟 BACK IN 88
This video reminds me of my college days when five guys would just pull out their acoustics and we’d just play and sing whatever everyone knew. As the night went on, and the booze went down, the singing got worse.
I remember thinking these guys were so old when this video came out (and the video for End Of The Line) in the late 80s. But they were between late 30s to early 50s. I'll be 50 in a few months. It's crazy to think that I thought that way. They look so young. The Beatles split up only 18 years before this came out. Yet it's been 3 and a half decades since this video came out.
Sometimes people so spend too much time focussing on what genre to put music into. Sometimes it’s just a mix of things and it really doesn’t matter. Just saying. This is one of their very best songs. Love the travelling Wilburys
YIKES!! I was freaking out that you could mistake George for Bob!!! George was HORRIFICALLY UNDERAPPRECIATED in the Beatles, but he was MUCH HAPPIER when he handpicked friends to become the Traveling Wilburies!! You MUST do more of George!! I suggest Isn't it a Pity, Beware of Darkness, While my Guitar Gently Weeps, Let it Down, Cloud Nine, Behind that Locked Door.....you MUST get educated on the musical genius of George!!
When these guys first started, music really wasn't put into genres so you as a super group, you still can't put them in a genre. It's just music. Period.
Come on man, that's Beatle George Harrison singing lead vocals, he wrote this song. Lead guitarist from the greatest band ever The Beatles. Since when does George Harrison sound like Bob Dylan?
You guys really need to listen to Them Crooked Vultures especially since they were #5 on the list and you guys have never heard of them. They made only one album but it was Amazing.
The funny part is how this song came about, they werecat Bob's studio and were like, what do we write about and George sees a box that says Handle with Care and that's how this song came to be!
It’s George!!! There is a documentary on the making of.. Tom was to solo after Roy and was like, oh great - will anyone sound good going after Roy! They all were like Roy was a monster to follow, so the duet of Tom and Bob came in! LOL.
Don't know if you'll read this after 3 days but you should react to more of the first supergroup: "Cream". Eric Clapton(guitar), Jack Bruce(Bass) & Ginger Baker(drums) were all widely considered the best at what they played in the sixties. They were also considered the ultimate 'Power Trio'. "Crossroads", "White Room" & "Sunshine of your love" are all classics.
In an interview one of them joked that they got Roy Orbison, Bob Dylan, a guy that sounds like Bob Dylan and a guy that sounds like the guy that sounds like Bob Dylan.
I think you guys would love Tweeter and the Monkey Man. I love all of their songs but this one is very amusing. Bob Dylan doing the lead. George Harrison, Roy Orbison, Tom Petty, Bob Dylan and Jeff Lynn from ELO.
They are a supergroup. Great singers just laid back enjoying creating music. If you could create a supergroup, what five artists (alive or dead) would you choose?
Jeff Lynne had the beard George Harrison from the Beatles did the main verse Tom Petty was the blonde haired one with the hat and Bob Dylan had that frizzy black hair And Orbison is obvious lol
Dylan and petty sang together on this, the main singer? George Harrison, and the Prince collaboration with the other great guitarists was done as a commemorative set in honor of George Harrison, look up "concert for George" it's beautiful.
.......the genre for this tune is 'folk rock', but you do hear traces of other genres in this song. The harmonica is found in many genres: blues, country, jazz, r&b, rock. Like all wind instruments, it is versatile, agile, and expressive. That's why you find it in all these genres. In the world of musicology folk rock is a sub-genre of what has come to be known as 'Americana'. Americana is the basic and early forms of American popular music and consists of these genres: Folk, blues, country, blue grass, rockabilly and early rock 'n' roll. IMHO I would also place rag time and big band jazz in the Americana genre. You guys should check out rag time, dates from the 1890's to the early 1900's and was the precursor to jazz. Scott Joplin was the main man !!! 😜
