Judging from your reactions, it seems like the shot shapes are spot on. This is for sure the most important piece of information I need from this unit right now.
@@trevormorton8415 Yeah it does suck but I guess thats their massive selling point and it's definitely a business decision. It's how they are going to get a steady stream of revenue... But it sucks for us consumers.
Yeah I was impressed by the carry distance from the unit they seemed to all be in the ballpark. And yes I totally was missing the greens like that on purpose 😂. I remember the Garmin didn’t have landscape mode for a while!! Took them ages to do that.
For now, unless they send one to test. I’ll stay with my Garmin and GSPro. My chipping on it connected direct is much better than through the Garmin app. Missing greens comes natural, lol The slow ball flight would drive me crazy! Thanks Joe!

Release of these today. I was ready to go on time. In literally less than one minute, while I was handling payment, the item disappeared from my cart. 9:01am and this limited supply was sold put! How many did they have for this cattle call, 10? Bad process. I hope their customer service improves after purchase they do finally get these in one day.
Hey Scott yeah that's the thing with all tech products that get released these days... It always seems to go back to covid! I remember pre covid if you wanted something then no worries go and buy it. Now it seems like things get released and they never have enough units.. and the units the do have get bought by scalpers who sell them for more on Facebook marketplace or eBay. Tbh mate it's probably better you didn't get one.. wait for the software to get a bit more refined 👍 but I understand your frustration!
Noticed on Ebay are several of these going for ~$1000+. All this “cattle call” sales process does is enable scalpers and piss off customers. It seems to be a great product, so the rest of just have to put up with their poor launch and wait.
Encouraging to see it picks up shanks well, since that’s what I’m trying to fix. Maybe try changing ball position on your short chips - closer and further from unit, maybe it would work.
😂 Yeah of course it picks up the bad shots!! Typical haha. Yes I will start going through a lot of trouble shooting things in the future I have tried further from the unit to no effect but I haven’t really tried moving closer than what the recommend. I will do that in my next testing session. Cheers mate

Hey Daniel no unfortunately not.. and I think it's because the cameras are being used for ball tracking. I would have to wait for the official word from Rapsodo but I feel like it should be an option.. surely the device can use the cameras for the spin and spin axis but also save the video..? I'm the same just see the stats
Yes, if you click on a shot, you can see both camera videos by using the options at the bottom. Don't highlight two shots, it won't give you the options (another little bug to be fixed )
It will be interesting to see Awesome Golf or GS Pro with this unit. I agree that not having the data after each shot and no landscape mode is a bummer!
Hey Rob fingers crossed someone is working on a GS Pro connector... I would love to hook it up to that. I have reached out to Awesome Golf and am waiting on a reply from them to get a product code so I can test it out so fingers crossed 🤞. I really don't get that lack of data in the simulation mode. That's the whole point of people buying a launch monitor. I'm sure that will get addressed quickly! That's the good thing about Rapsodo is they seem to be all over quick updates. Cheers
@@JLagGOLF Honestly, if I was Rapsodo and I had to allocate finite resources (which all businesses do), I'd choose to work on fixing bugs and adding features to the hardware and just let Awesome Golf, et al. be the software we all use for practice and simulation. Don't try to be everything, just be really really great at one thing, you know?
@@robgillanofficial Yeah I totally get what you’re saying and looking at the Garmin R10 that’s pretty much exactly what they did.. I don’t think there are many people who use the Garmin software. Although saying that I think the Garmin software is right now better than Rapsodo’s.
I think on the short chip shots, it doesnt reister ebcasue the club head basically covers the ball and it doesnt register the ball as it can't "see" the ball. I have the same issue with Garmin R10
Hey mate it could potentially be the issue but the ball is still getting about 2 foot in the air off the ground and if you check out my chipping comparison video my R10 has absolutely no issues with any of the chip shots. I think it is a software issue tbh.. I think like when the Garmin came out they just need to adjust how sensitive the unit is or the range of frequencies that the unit will register as a shot.
Hi Joe, love the content mate 👍 Unlike you, I’ve been really struggling to get accurate numbers in particular from mid irons up. On the other hand the numbers on Awesome Golf were pretty much spot on. Was wondering if it’s my setup/lighting etc? Thoughts?
Hey Nat thanks for that mate! It’s still very early days but in all my Garmin R10 videos and tests Ive done Awesome Golf was always a far superior software and their algorithm was SPOT on my Foresight GC2. I haven’t tried the Rapsodo on Awesome Golf yet.. I’m trying to get a product code for testing now. I really hope I can check it out because if its anything like my Garmin experience it will be much better than the standard app. On a side note have you used a premium ball with your Rapsodo? Their algorithm might be better for your mid irons for carry distance?
@@JLagGOLF yes I’ve tried a mixture of balls including the RPT and my numbers are low on the native software. I found the Awesome Golf app superior and even gave me estimated spin rates! I’d love to see a test with Rapsodo and see your results 👍
@@natjeffery3214 It is definitely on my list mate! I’m hoping to get it done in the next week or so.. The annoying thing is that the Rapsodo interferes with my GC2 so I will most likely have to do say 5-10 shots with each club and unit and then compare the results which is fine. TBH I think my ball striking is consistent enough and I will just use the RPT balls with both units. With my Garmin there was no comparison Awesome Golf was the best in terms of carry distance. Even beating out GS Pro!! Only just though.. I would be very interested to see if the results are the same with the Rapsodo.
I would be really interested to hear if they're aware of and planning to work on getting those low chip shots to register. My guess is they made a conscious decision to just not have shots register if they were below a certain confidence threshold which I guess I'm fine with. Better not having a shot at all than having a wildly inaccurate one.
Hey yeah I'm actually really interested to know as well. I think the unit definitely has the ability to do so.. just like the R10 it uses Doppler radar but then also has the cameras so really there is no reason why it wouldn't be able to. I think it will just take a bit more refinement in the software.. of course if they make it too sensitive then people might start having issues with the unit reading the waggle as a swing.. just like the R10. I hope they do get it to where it is as capable as the R10 with them. There is also apparently putting code in the software! The guys working on a GS Pro connector have said they found it in there. So in the future they might even try and release that or they might have had a crack at doing putting with it but need to refine it more. Cheers
What’s crazy to me is with all the testing and people who got the unit early to test before launch, not one person mentioned “Hey maybe we should put club data after each shot in the simulation aspect of things!” If they did, whoever was in charge of that dropped the ball. Also with short chips, you’d think the unit would get everything. Meh things could be worse I suppose lol😏
Agreed, the lack of chipping is definitely the most frustrating part of this unit. The shot response is also PAINFULLY SLOOOOWWW! Hopefully, they get both of these resolved in an upcoming patch.
Yeah I completely agree.. With these things though you never really know like you said. The testers could have highlighted things and they just didn’t get put through quick enough. But some of the things like data tiles and landscape mode are very basic.. I remember when the Garmin came out and didn’t have landscape mode. Surely these company’s would look at their competition and say right what did they do wrong so we can do it better. The chipping is really quite annoying because its the thing that is keeping this unit from being an amazing sim unit. Hopefully these things get addressed quickly and like I’ve said before Rapsodo really do seem like they are QUICK to act and get things done in response to the community.

I went with the R10 simply because it’s been out for some time, and I didn’t wanna wait for the Rapsodo 2 to release and only use it a week or so before courses start to open. I had a funny feeling there were going to be issues with it at release. I will get it at some point in the future. Would you be so kind to see if they have a course on there for me? You don’t have to play it. It’s called Glen Oak GC in East Amherst NY. It’s a local course that I venture to, and has one of my favorite Par 3s around. It’s hole 8! A lot of creators don’t even take the time to respond so it’s appreciated more than you know. Do you know if anyone has got the Rapsodo 2 to work with GS Pro yet? If so, I wonder how they’ll combat the short chipping issues when close to the greens at the moment. Also I wonder if it disconnects a ton. I’m sure the techs are aware of the issues and are going to release a hot patch to address all the known issues the Rapsodo users are experiencing. What are you using for your side wall protection? I currently have curtains in mine but I like how yours seem to be 10' long in a single material. Also, what type of angled padding are you using for your ceiling protection? Thanks!
Hey mate the side curtains are just heavy black material that I bought from a fabric shop. I just bought it by the metre and got 5m for each side.. it’s 3m in width. From there I just put some eyelets in it myself. I do have a video showing how I built my sim definitely check it out. Joe, no way for me with those graphics and missed shots. I can play my Garmin for hours and no missed shots or disconnects. Can walk away check on the CNC, come back and hit a ball never wake up anything. And it reads to real graphics you can see!
The new director connector for the Garmin is fantastic! The software has a LOT to be desired for the Rapsodo but I'm sure they will get on to it quickly!
Knowing what is on the market for them they should have waited till ready for the market. I’ll wait and keep using my Garmin and DC GSPro. Overall for claiming the most market share not a good plan! They should go back to work, just like Awesome Golf should.
Thanks for testing. I guess that blue light might bring some hope to small chip shots. Maybe they can improve that. The simulation is pretty aweful. Ask yourself if you would pay 200 bucks a year for that. I think not one person would. It's just a shame they lock the function of the unit without the subscription. Seems like you believe the ball flight was accurate so that a big plus.
@David Dear Golf Gear-Detailing-DIY you must have money to burn. Seriously have you seen literally any other sim software. Some actually for less after a couple of years when you pay for a lifetime licence.
You’d think youtubers who recieved the product early would have mentioned the wifi connection issues. I basically can’t use this thing more than 5 minutes without going through a connection process. Rapsodo support is lacking. Right now its a nice desk paper weight.
Hey James yeah it's a bit shocking... I do see a lot of users saying they don't have any issues so I guess it's hard for a company to rest this unit against all possible routers in different countries before release. Have you don't the app update and firmware update on the unit? I did this and then did direct connect to my unit and it fixed my connection issues for the most part. Even doing the update on the unit was stressful.. make sure you follow their instructions on the official Rapsodo Facebook page.
Hey Jake yeah it's possible.. but the ball is actually getting quite high even on those small chip shots. And if you check out my in depth chipping video the R10 had no issues with the chip shots. I think it just needs a little software tweak to make the radar a bit more sensitive and we will see a massive improvement. 🤞🤞
Seems like your body language doesn't love it, but perhaps I'm reading too much into that. An interesting piece of kit for the price, and the sim is a little better than I thought it would be (except for chips). Overall, for many golfers, this is going to be a good device. Personally I'd pay more for the accuracy of some other devices, but not everyone has that luxury. Definitely some weird results on the sim. Like on the 17th, there's no chance your PW lands and rolls out 10 yards. I mean on course that's never happening. But still interesting overall. Love the content.
Hey Jeremy no that's a good assessment mate. You know me well 😂.. But yes the software and also the physics has a lot to be desired. Yeah I think the data is quite accurate from the unit especially the spin axis that is very impressive. But it's almost like ok but now what.. the data is accurate but you can't really play Sim golf with it. So at this point in time it's for just very basic range work in an indoor environment. Time will tell but I really had high hopes for this unit being the ultimate budget simulator device. Fingers crossed Rapsodo are all over the updates like they were with the connection issues. Really impressed by the team and how they handled that and also with the communication they have with the community. 🤞🤞🤞🤞
Hey mate I did try this I think I edited it out as it didn't work for me and I was trying for a while! 🤣. I don't know if it works indoors but I'll get to the bottom of it.
I am getting roughly the same results as you are with the non-registering shots. I am also getting balls that are just slightly off target registering as out of bounds. Even on holes where I know there is no out of bounds on the actual course. I have reported the issue. Please see if you can replicate that.

Could you please do a video comparing the stats with the RPT ball and a regular ball? I really don't want to pay the subscription each year but think that this device will be more future proof than the garmin
Hey Jodes I definitely plan on doing this! From my testing the regular ball actually has accurate carry distance numbers (definitely a little bit longer than the RPT) using the estimated spin from the Rapsodo algorithm. But shot shape is definitely not that great. But I will have to wait to be sure on that when I do the official test! Cheers
That ball physics needs improving. And like you said its all flat. Hopefully they improve the simulation and range. Since you will need to pay $200 a year for it.
Absolutely mate.. Every shot had the same land and 10y quick bounce forward. I think Garmin has the better ball physics and TBH home tee hero at least has elevation changes and wind.
Hey yeah I have found the Rapsodo simulation incredibly slow.. I find myself just standing there for like 30 to 60 seconds while it goes through everything. Especially transitioning hole to hole. I haven't tried the Rapsodo courses in a while actually I'll have to check them out again.

@@woodfinchcrafts7267 I absolutely agree! What Garmin has done with a single radar unit... Really extracted all the performance out of the limited hardware. I feel like Rapsodo has much more capable hardware but the software is just bad! I've said it a million times but if they just partnered officially with GS Pro then that's the software sorted. Lucky we have an amazing community that has got a work around for the GS Pro connection.
😂😂 Yeah the graphic’s definitely have to improve and tbh so does the in game physics… every shot did the same like land and quickly bounce forward 10y which isn’t really realistic. I think right now home tee hero has the better in game physics and graphics is really the same I wouldn’t say one is better than the other. But I think realistically Rapsodo should partner with GS Pro and that would be a game changer move then just focus on getting the chipping to register better. That way they could still charge for their subscription each year to unlock spin axis..
